Not irony even it might sound like it! Classic is totally different entity than retail. So at the time when can’t fly, better be spending it in place you don’t miss it! And since i am not planning to leave retail either, can then focus on it times when flying is working. This way getting full thing out or Classic and retail both.
Nope it is Irony in its purest form.
You can naturally take it any way you want, if you don’t understand what i mean. And even if you do
Recent Ion’s interview shows, that may be he understands flying/no-flying problem a little bit, but still isn’t ready to provide real compromise, that would treat pro-flyers as valuable customers. Because how can it be considered a compromise, when some players don’t buy new expansion till it’s middle, so they can’t experience content, when it’s fresh, new and exciting? Real compromise would be to provide 50% of content for no-flyers and 50% for pro-flyers.
the thing is, back then the zones weren’t giant mazes, you can barely navigate in (looking at you zuldazar) they were open, so you could travel to places and you wouldn’t miss flying that much…
I would still miss flying though, because I like flying through the air, it is fun, but if the zones were more open, I wouldn’t miss flying that much
Personally I think flying should be always one expansion behind, so for example when BfA released, flying was allowed in Legion.
why? there is no reason to time gate flying that much also we already have a flying thread Delay flying until 9.0
Stonetalon Mountains says Hi, as does Un’goro Crater, Winterspring….need I go on?
Because that’s the way the expansion is released, no flying, If you wish to go back to older content, then allow flying to make it easier.
when I look at the maps from back then, they don’t even look nearly as extreme as current zones
Did you play in Vanilla? a genuine question, because trust me, certain areas were a complete nightmare, Winterspring couldn’t even be entered unless you got exalted with a faction, and then the valleys and mountains in that area were a nightmare.
World pvp died years ago… so nothing new in game
I didn’t, but it can’t be worse than current zones, which can’t be more linear… you are running on rails in zuldazar… open spaces are non existent also looking at this video, ungoro crater has a lot of open spaces https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drEi2x7zdAE
Stonetalon mountains i could agree. Winterspring is easy peasy area with Y shaped roadmap easy to navigate everywhere. Un goro crater is a giant bowl… i don’t know what would be easier to navigate than that.
Did you? Winterspring did not require exalted with the furbolgs, you only needed enough reputation they were not hostile to you anymore. And some didn’t do even that, they just killed their way trough the tunnel.
I think flying in BFA will undermine entire concept of War between factions
Only possible soluton is:
-Enable flying Warmode off
-No flying in Warmode on, but make rewards for killing each others more lucrative.
Goal: flying itself is always full of benefits, however they need to offer benefits and reason for people to stay on ground and continue to wage war to each others.
Flying has nothing to do with WPvP dying or with the faction war dying (the faction war doesn’t even make sense to me, but this is another topic)
They required exalted in the early part of Vanilla, the requirements were lifted in one of the later patches that allowed you to go through at neutral, I may be mistaken, but I do remember having to get exalted at one point i’m sure.
Looking back at old Patch notes, Patch 1.9 rejigged the Timbermaw Hold quests and reputations…
That’s not a compromise. What you have now is a compromise. Denying flying in a current expansion is not compromising it’s taking flying away completely.
Never said anything about a compromise, I just stated ‘Personally’!
You needed exalted for certain recipes they were selling, maybe it is that you are thinking of? There was some pretty nice recipes available there. But you were able to go trough on neutral, actually i think even as unfriendly, but if you were hostile they attacked you.
