Flying, Blizzard. When?

Patch 1.9 brought changes to the Timbermaw Hold reputations and quests etc, Not for one second saying you are incorrect, but the patch notes I looked up do tend to match what I seem to remember.

Anyway I digress, and don’t wish to pull the thread off topic so to speak.

Fair enough, as you quoted the other poster I thought it was your idea of a compromise

Every thread regarding flying must have some
“FLyInG wiLL kiLL pVp” replies. Ty for keeping the tradition up!

Good old days

Because in classic you can actually run places without six million mobs following and dazing you and using stupid cc on you to slow you down. And that is before I even start on some of the horrible time-sump terrain which admittedly was far worse in WOD and Legion.

Quite true, but that’s because only one Mob will kill you stone dead. Remember the hint at the start of WoW on the loading screen ‘It is much safer to travel by roads’ ?

Just wondering if you played Classic, and if so travelled thru Hinterlands?

Yeah sure ofc u can still world pvp but its just not the same when people fly away

That’s why you use your PvP Gizmo to knock them out of the sky.

Mounting up and flying away isn’t really a whole lot different from mounting up and riding away imo.

it would be exactly the same…
when warmode was first introduced, players were like “yes, finally WPvP will happen again” I was like “No it won’t” I have been playing on a PvP realm for a long time… the only times I got attacked, was while leveling in Hellfire peninsula

after Warmode got released, I turned on warmode and nothing changed… I still pretty much never get attacked…

Starting to warm up to this idea. I don’t really think about the empowered rewards when I play with warmode on. I have it activate because I’ve always played on a pvp server. I don’t really think that wpvp should have to be incentivized either. The main reward for wpvp was to fight recognizable opponents who would then go on to the server forums to banter. On my server there was a really nice love-hate relationship going on that I’ve not participated in for years, and the activity on the server forums seem to be largely dead. Perhaps some sort of incentive is required.

At the end of the day though, it is not the rewards that should be the “fun” aspect of the game. It should be the gameplay. World pvp was never about the rewards.

If you don’t have flying in WM you will see a lot of people turning off WM.

No they didnt at all and you could still kill your way through .

That largely depends on the incentive, I believe. There’d be no reason to play with Warmode activated if you just wanted to go off and farm herbs, but what if the spawnrate of Anchorweed was greater when WM was activated? What if you got more resources from an indidivudal node while WM was activated? What if you only had to do 3 world quests instead of 4 for the emissaries while WM was activated? What if you actually got something from killing enemy players, like some sort of currency. I actually don’t like the latter idea as it might just lead to win-trading (which we’ve seen happen in wpvp before), but it shouldn’t be impossible to give lucrative enough incentives for people to keep warmode active, even if it means no flying.

Personally, I would give my dragon to the butcher if it meant I had to do one quest less for each emissary.

there really shouldn’t be pve rewards for turning wm on…
this was a really bad Idea from the very beginning
this just causes more pve players to turn on warmode for the bonus and then the players keep ignoring other players…

just put in pvp rewards, like additional honor, for completing WQ’s in wamode or more honor for killing players

I played from early BC. And to be fair while mobs will be much tougher the player base for classic is most likely going to be far ahead of average.

The biggest problem for classic is that there isn’t going to be anything new. Outside of raids for anyone who played pre cata all the quests are going to be the same. We all know now what classes to take, what ones to avoid, what gear to farm. Yes there will be more grind, but I can’t see classic lasting, current retail players will get the shock of their lives and most won’t stay. Those of there for nostalgia will most likely get bored.

First off: people have cooperated cross-faction (i.e. not murdered one another on sight) on pvp-servers even before WM was introduced.
Secondly: pve players will always ignore other pve players. They’re often easy prey for actual pvp players, though.

I don’t mind that pve players use WM. But then again, I always did play on a pvp server and pvp servers have always had pve-players as well, and in the past they didn’t have the option to hide. I would actually prefer the old pvp/pve-servers than what we’ve got now, but I digress.

Then explain how you would address the balance issue ?
You cant force players to move to allaince and you cant force them to stay on a server so therefore there like old pvp would be top heavey factions making it pointless.

Is this the playerbase who have become accustomed to have QoL addons and easy play as it is now, I think they could be in for a bit of a shock at first

Check Patch 1.9. notes, it states that Timbermaw Hold Quests and Reputation has been changed.

I have played on a pvp server most of my playtime too… I have not changed servers since MoP and I have started playing in cata…

but it is still a bad idea to give pve rewards for turning on WM…

like I said, it just forces more players to come to warmode, because of efficency… players will ignore each other and the only happy players will be serious pvp players, because they can gank peaceful pve players, who just want to farm…

WM was created, because players were complaining, that they can’t turn of PvP on PvP servers and got ganked (almost never happened to me though), so WM shouldn’t have “incentives” for pve players to turn it on…
