For those who enjoys Dragonflight

I enjoy:

  • Dragon riding - active flying at super high speeds is fun.
  • Crafting - the new crafting system is far more interesting than just earning skill points, and I’d like to see specialisations added to cooking as well. Plus, being able to ‘commission’ high ilvl crafted gear is awesome.
  • Mythic plus - something I always enjoy, and this is nothing new.
  • Raiding - the new raid is super fun.
  • Aesthetics - the zones are beautiful.

There is other small quality of life stuff that makes DF more fun, like the new talent trees and the ability to change talents (including pre-set loadouts) anywhere, and the buff to alt renown at certain levels (should be a bigger buff, though, or more renown-locked things should be account wide).

Are there things that need to be improved? Of course there are. I’ve said since the beginning that Dracthyr shouldn’t have unique visage forms - they should be able to choose their visage from the races of their chosen faction, and all the design hours that were put into the Dracthyr visage should have been spent on new options for the races we already had. But things like that are small compared to the huge positives that DF has brought.

Well, m+ and world quests weren’t the issue in SL and BfA, convoluted systems and mandatory grinds were. And the content drought during covid. And I was never a fan of SL’s theme.
But pressing buttons and defeating bosses was always fun, the music and art were always great, the design of the world and enemy placement were always good, the classes were always fun to play. World of Warcraft was always, at a fundamental level, a great game. Legion (no reason to leave it out, it’s objectively part of the same WoW era), BfA and SL were like great paintings with frames so bad that they ruined the sight.
I’m not even sure Shadowlands was, in this regard, that much worse. In fact, from a lot of standpoints, I think it mostly improved on Legion’s and BfA’s design. But the design was flawed from the start and people were tired of it. Plus the drought, plus the scandal, plus the wobbly lore.
But at its core, WoW was always good. And if somebody dislikes WoW at its core, it’s not the game that’s bad, it’s just not for them.

To answer your question, I’m enjoying the vibes and the story, it feels like an adventure, no content feels forced, which lets me pursue whatever goal I want in my own time. The talent trees are fun to play with, the dungeons are good (although not my favourite), I’m enjoying the new crafting system and the way the world is filled with little minigames and mechanics that reflect the players’ choices. Dragon riding is fun and refreshing, and I also really loved seeing more text and dialogues, the world is gorgeous and vibrant, the characters are fun and enjoyable and there’s lots of cool stuff to collect.

It’s World of Warcraft, which I always loved, without all the bad parts that made recent expansions less fun than they could have been.

He told you what he likes about DF. you didnt like the fact that he could do that so you shut your ears and yelled “blah blah blah i dint hear you say something else”

how can you not chase those features like grinding chorghast to stay at relevant powerlevel? it has to be done.
if you’re saying “well if you dont like torghast you dont have to do it” except you do. unless you are level 12 main in goldshire, then sure, all 3 xpacs is the same to you.

its simple there is no forced chores wich keep you behind on player power if you dont spent hours doing them each day.

There is no torghast or the maw wich we are forced to go into all the time. You can just do your normal thing and explore a bit.I still sometimes encounter a sidequest i missed while flying to places.

Ýou can play pvp without being steamrolled by some arena boost buyer.

I barely touched Torghast in SL. DF is so much better with its relaxed approach and doesnt leave me feeling like Im being forced to grind content.

Although I did enjoy the day I spent going back to Torghast at lvl70! Did all the acheivements and came out with so many goodies!!LOL

I’m like 50/50 on the expansion. Yeah I think it’s better than SL but that’s not saying a lot.

  • Dragonriding is fun, rated solo shuffle is cool, zones look good
  • Renown grind sucks, overcomplicated professions (gathering changes are kind of cool though), dracthyrs look stupid AF

I mostly do random bgs and world pvp, and I’m having a lot of fun in both. Took my time getting to 70 doing that. The way gear works in PvP is nice this expansion, I can just PvP. The zones are an improvement over SL, and have a more BfA feel which I like.

Not playing much at all personally.
Just do not feel the drive to…
I play other games with my BF instead atm.

After 18 years, im still enjoying.
It’s easy, if I don’t like something I don’t ask, I cancel, with the opinion of others I don’t have fun

i think people are just happy they dont have to go through hoops to do pvp,m+ and raiding… Iv slowly cared less and less about doing those three things in wow so i agree the game is just more of the same and iv been struggling to log in… bring back artifacts, class order halls, player housing please with customization. thanks

I’m really enjoying PvP a lot for the first time since Legion, and with how frequently we’ve been getting balancing changes so far it’s made me hopeful for the future.

Class design (not tuning) has also been pretty nice for me thus far, all my mains have significantly upgraded from Shadowlands.

Also barrier to entry being so much lower than the previous two expansions is very nice. I’ve had time to create and full gear more alts in this first month than I did in a full season in Bfa/SL

also just a lot of smaller things that arent game changing but I’ve found fun are dragonriding, new profession system, wpvp being alive and well again

Wotlk? Same dungeons and naxx for 3 months? Wow! So much variety of content! I don’t know where to start.

I played wotlk for 5 weeks. Levelled two characters. All their crafting, did naxx 25 and all other trashy raids . Got all their gear and left bored.

There’s nothing to do. Ulduar will keep me for another 5 weeks because I know it already.

Wotlk has tiny speck of content compared to DF.

Personally I am really enjoying the story so far. Dragonriding is an amazing feature, coupled together with customisable mounts, finally. I also like the idea of world quests not being dailies, it feels less like a grind, I can play at my own pace. Also I think the lack of borrowed power systems is very appealing.
But the best part of the expansion so far, in my opinion, is that it encourages exploration. No, it doesn’t hold your hand and takes you here and there, it is up to you how much of the new lands do you wanna explore. But literally everywhere around the Dragon Isles you can get fun rewards.
Oh, and I almost forgot the new talent system, Blizzard did a pretty good job with that as well.
The only thing that is a little off putting for me, is that the main storyline after 70 is locked behind renown levels. And maybe the fact that drachtyr cannot be other classes, it would be fun to play as a warrior dragonkin for example.
But apart from that, I think it is one of the best xpacs. This is how World of Warcraft supposed to be.

Zones, music, quests, world quests, open world events, exploration, rep, professions, transmogs. The game has limited opportunities for a solo player but we, role players create our own content anyway. :slightly_smiling_face:

I have also started levelling an alt for the Human legacy armour and I’m looking forward to the grey and white item transmogs and I’m curious about the Trading Post.

Better zone design. Better world quest design. Better, more unique, reputations. PvP gear being super accessible (Would be perfect if PvP was balanced and not so burst heavy). I never really liked M+ so nothing changed there. Haven’t touched raiding either.

Honestly the alt friendliness of it all and the world content are the main reasons I love this expansion. Got six classes to 70 with several more being levelled. Haven’t had the desire to do that since Legion and Legion levelling was much less fun and it’s zone design was trash.

The unlocking was almost nonexistent after TBC. Got easier each new expansion. Became a game of grind rep as you move through Xpac and so far that seems in place already.

Maybe wow players actually want a list of chores so that they can play the game! No? Oh… Nvm!

I’ve said it so many times in similar threads - its finally back to not being pressured into a ‘Checklist’ of many things to do before you can even contemplate doing your favourite stuff (m+, raiding, etc). Great for me, having limited time to playthe game these days.

It’s this for me too!

I used to use my time before work in the mornings to do some chores in Korthia, the Maw, Nazjatar, etc. It never felt good, but I knew it was important to invest that time or get left behind on the long term grinds.

Now I consider whether to pug an M+, farm some herbs, work on an alt, do some story quests I’ve skipped until now, or just… not play WoW.

Tbh, there is a risk this will turn me into an alternate weeks player, because I hate pugging tyrannical - but at least I can commit to that and have entire days of not logging in without any associated guilt.

And weirdly, that’s a much happier place that knowing that if I don’t then the chance to work on [some grindable power creep system] has been passed up and won’t come round again. That was a horrible, oppressive feeling of forced play. DF is giving us a chance to see whether the evergreen content - raids, M+ and PvP - actually do stand on their own feet.

My hunch is that they will, but some players might play less. Only, that’s not a bad thing :smile_cat:

Edit: I do understand why people who do none of the “big three” content options feel they have lost out. There is a very simple solution; Blizz should make world quests release every day, but have a 7 day expiry, and not reset on wednesday mornings. You can therefore have 1 day of bashing all WQs hard, or do a few every day, whichever suits your playstyle more.

If people expected something beyond that… they need to explain what it should have been, because WoW has never delivered more things.
