My impression in BfA is that it is harder for Horde to move around KT without being flagged than it is for Alliance to move around Zandalar. I just this minute finished a pet quest - a pet quest, fer Gossake - and had not moved at all when I was tagged by an Alliance Guard walking along the road (Drustvar, the bees).
Having said that, I don’t consider being tagged even when I don’t want Warmode a big deal anymore, since it is extremely unlikely that I will even see anyone of the opposite faction who is also tagged, much less that they will want to fight. If it really bothers you, blow your Whistle, catch a flight, and it’s gone.
This OP is a real storm in a tea cup. The PvP flag you get is not a transfer to warmode, it is the same as getting a PvP flag on the old PvE servers; something that always happened if you agro’d enemy guards.
The odds on meeting an Alliance/Horde player who is going to repeatedly gank you with this type of flag on is minimal.
You do not pvp enable yourself in order to be able to attack opposite faction guards, that only applies to attacking players of the oppoaite faction. You can just attack npcs and you are auto flagged.
No contradiction. People used to annihilate the npcs in the opposite factions bases for fun to inconvenience other players. As explained there has to be a consequence to this action. That consequence is opening yourself up to possibly being killed by the other players.
The entire concept behind the game perhaps? While PVE does offer some protection from PvP elements it’s not and never was suppose to be dumb mode when attempting to stroll into the enemies city.
The PvP flag in this instance allows other players to defend their city/village NPC’s from other players. and has this fun thing where it disables after 5 min out of combat.
Removing it…That was never the Intent behind war mode, War mode is not and never was suppose to replace PvP flagging. They are separate features and should be recognized as such as well despite the fact PvP is an inherent aspect of both that’s about all the share in common.

"Dalaran Sewer: No point to hiring a guard
So far, here are my guard times:
4:32
:25
3:19(ish)
4:10
2:35
:15
1:55(ish)
They disappear for no reason. 5min is absurdly small in the first place (esp with people paying off the guards in the middle of a big PvE fight) but not even lasting to that?
Not once. Not one time.
Blizzard…just a little commitment to quality in the design…is that too much to ask? I mean it’s a bad design in the first place but couldn’t you at least make that work?"
Also I said :
I didn’t said:
Do you know how many times I went to Dalaran sewers in Legion ?
1 for a quest as for the professions recipes I tossed them trough the window.
Too bad I can’t do the same for the war campaign in BfA.
I didn’t even see it.
One thing is stumbling on the entrance of a Alliance camp and getting attacked by the sentinels that were at the entrance, at mellee range, in Ashenvale (Nigh elf zone) like when this character was level 36 in vanilla period.
Other much different case, is when you are playing in Nazmir which is on Zandalar passing on a road and getting hit by a arrow from no where.
You immediately get PvP tagged next thing you are stuck on a net, dismounted, and surrounded by NPC’s another alliance player who happened to have PvP flagged and getting killed.
Don’t worry that was the first and last time that happened.
I wasn’t used to shield bubble up and HS out.
Also made sure from that point on, that my contribution to wm, PvP activity, Bg’s were zero, to show my “appreciation” to this kind of design.
Best thing ever introduced in wm was that allowed the players that didn’t enjoyed being killed in PvP servers to turn wm off.
They give 10 per cent to the players for turning wm on and now they are handing welfare 400 IL gear to bribe people in to turning it on.
I just wanna laugh.
When I played in a real PvP server in MoP I knew exactly what I was on to it.
Being ganked and getting killed was part of the routine for my Alliance mage, but I chose to play on a PvP server, I chose to take part of it, see the difference ?
So you want to roam the world freely including enemy territory with no thought to danger of any kind?
PvP servers when they existed, had you essentially flagged 24/7 no real difference. PvE servers weren’t exclusive from PvP.
The distinction is that PvP isn’t a choice on one and on the other it’s just pay more attention to where you are going or you will get slaughtered by the enemy the entire game is based on.
You can’t have a world with no threats to the players, a couple of squirrels and wolf don’t count either. It’s pretty bad as is, my Pala tank is nigh on immortal in open world, my mage can slay mobs so quickly he’s pretty much immortal as well providing I don’t try to tank them.
PvP on a pve server should always come as a option.
You chose to flag yourself now you suffer for it.
Some of us just play to chill out, read quest texts, get inside the story and getting more pieces for their transmogg library.
That’s what I do.
Unsubscribed from my BfA account, went back to my vanilla account, which had legion expansion, leveling this character and many others, never been happier.
It is an option though…the only time it’s not is if you literally walk up to the enemy base close enough for them to see you sticking the finger up at them.
Too bad when your character was questing in Nazmir as a noob, and you thought Alliance was supposed to be on Kul’Tyras you suddenly get hit by a arrow out of no where, while trying to get to your quest zone.
You get entrapped, dismounted, attacked and finally killed.
But you learn and put that shield spell next to your HS shortcut.
Btw what made me quit BfA wasn’t the game itself.
Was the story.
sigh, Blizzard can’t change this. If they did there would be serious questions needing answered as to who their audience is.
If they changed it then you can assume their target market is 5 year olds or less.
It’s not been a major issue for 15 years and suddenly it’s a problem?
September 2004 WoW beta I logged in ran past a horde outpost…I got killed. I carried on.
15 years on and people are complaining about something that has always been in the game?
The hell is wrong with people. I really hope Blizzard take a look at this entire topic and use it as a template for why not to listen to the player base at times.
Tell me when you were doing your quest to get the key to UBRS, MC, Onyxia did you have to go to enemy territory and risking flag yourself up to the enemy players ?
On BfA if you want to complete the war campaign which allows you to unlock the flight path, you have to go to enemy territory and risk being PvP flagged.
The difference between PvP players and pve players is basically one: we don’t need to kill other players to feel satisfaction.
I used to raid cities…pretty much every other day.
The difference is, I expected to get pvp flagged walking into enemy territory.
Hope you find a game that has difficult open world mobs like really threatening sheep or chickens with flame breath and lazer eye beams to make it feel like you can’t go to some places…that you aren’t suppose to go.
This has been my way of playing this game for about 4 years. Problem is - in BFA old endgame content has been destroyed, so I no longer have content to play. Scaling wasn’t supposed to affect endgame content. But it did. As I understand, Blizzard wanted to push their new feature - Allied Races. They decided to sacrifice all old content in favor of it. And they removed all abilities to make leveling “easier”. What happens now? All max level rewards have exactly the same item level. Blues, epics. All of them have quest greens item level. But endgame mobs still hit as hard, as it was in the past. And they still require higher item level to be killed. So, mobs, that aren’t even marked as rares or elites, are just impossible to kill. Such game is unplayable. And no gear progression = no reason to play.
That’s, why I decided to try BFA. Because I really doubt, that Blizzard will change their direction of development. I need to adapt or quit. Problem is - I just can’t change my preferences. It’s violence towards self. Sorry.
It’s almost as they wanted to remove the fun factor, in order for you to play the game as they think you should play, not as you wanted to play it.
For me this is manipulation and I have already plenty of that in my real life.
That’s why I tend to go against what the game was designed for as a protest.
My opinion:
I will play WoTLK, Cataclysm, MoP, WoD and Legion as current content.
All I am after are the green pieces and quest stories.
After I hit max level, time to go back and finish the remaining quests, crafted gear, professions, dungeons and raids.
If they want us to grind over a treadmill, so be it.
But I hope they don’t get too upset if I stop buying their expansions, after all why do I need more content when I haven’t even finished the old content ?
People usually say: “Protest, vote with your wallet.”
That’s what I will do.
WoW is still a game I enjoy playing, but Legion will be last expansion this account has received hopefully for the next years.
I believe that when people complain is because they like the game and want to see it better.
But this post don´t make much sense to me, in every expansion every time you go near a “other faction” camp you will be targeted and attacked and will go pvp on, legion was different “plot wise” we shared hubs, if you can´t deal with that. please unsubscribe like everyone else.
I am not trying to be a troll, I am just tired of seeing people complaining because every single thing.
You also didn’t had quests chains attached to them.
Did you lose anything for not going going near Stormwind and do your quest ?
You do know that in order to complete the Saurfang quest line you have to travel to the vicinity of Stormwind right ?
Did the game made you go quest in another faction controlled area as Kul-Tyras (since you are a Horde player) ?
That map belong entirely to the Alliance, if you attack the Kul-Tyrans guards, which are different from Stormwind guards, you get flagged.
Saying that BfA is the same as any other expansion is not correct.
When was a expansion that had 2 different islands each one belonging to one faction ?
TBC shared quests area, final Boss Illidan Stormrage.
WoTLK shared quests area, final boss Arthas Menethil.
Cataclysm shared quests area, final boss Deathwing.
MoP shared quests area, final boss Garrosh Hellscream.
WoD shared quests area, final boss Archimonde.
Legion shared quests area, final boss Argus.
BFA - Alliance quest in Kul-Tyras, while the Horde quests in Zandalar.
In the War campaing you are practically invading Kul-Tyras as a Horde player and Zandalar as a Alliance player.
You are the aggressor of course the local guards will treat you as a hostile.
Alliance boss: King Rastakhan, Horde Allie.
Horde boss: Jaina and Gelbin Mekkatorque, Alliance characters.
Why can’t you understand, that avoiding PVP in PVE mode - is nonsense. PVE mode itself implies avoiding PVP. I agree, that PVP flag can be used as defense measure. But in this case you should clearly understand, that PVP-flagged player is punished for doing something wrong! He is attacking other faction hub. He do it voluntary. But nobody should force me into such situation in PVE mode. It’s just wrong.
But somebody in Blizzard is so focused on saving their dying WPVP, that they no longer respect PVE players at all. And if they don’t respect us, why should we respect them?
