[Forum Guide] How to clean up the Realm Forums 🙂

Idk man, I think if Blizzard ever suddenly prevented unsubbed players from posting on realm forums you’d see a huge infinity snap. Regular posters fading away to dust before our very eyes.

They would have to post in general and wade in the filth over there instead.

Blocking every single person who does that helps. I enjoy reading the forums way more now!

These garden utilities are beyond the acceptable level of agitation.*

Can only recommend this to anyone who doesn’t want to read the same stuff by people over and over again or derail threads with their posts.

I don’t think they can, they can only post on the realm forums or the customer support ones.

EDIT: So lets make it so they can only post on the customer ones.

I think the reporting was because the OP initially included a list of people they ignored, and the mods might see it as harassment.

Am I right in saying that the JSON doesn’t actually link to a BNet account so all the id’s are character-specific? In that case not quite replicating the old functionality, but a decent substitute for the time being.

I’m never going to read your walls of text ever

Which is really weird. Why should you be able to post in realm forums and not in general discussion?

Like, how are you contributing to realm discussion if you’re not even an active player? Memeing on myself here a little because I’ve gone through unsubbed phases while still actively posting here, but I don’t get why it should be a thing.

People reported it as trolling and not just the list, the forum moderators decided afterwards that the only questionable bit was the ID List, while the rest is A-OK.

correct, it’s character-based.

On the other hand its good because it stops certain bad actors who are unsubbed from posting in threads on the other forums where we have to make a stand about “why you should not come to our realm”

EDIT: but i am for not letting unsubbed players post anywhere except customer support.

Pretty much my thoughts too. They might need that if they’re having an issue getting back in, but instead with the current system you get a whole bunch of people who aren’t playing using the forums to dunk on your company mercilessly.

Good take I fully agree

It was nifty having the option to ignore people in the prior forums, whilst that isn’t of availability anymore. I often just mute threads that don’t appeal to me or that has gone down some spiral stairs into a descent of madness. It’s easier to just scroll past the post if I am reading through a thread though.

Think it’s been mention already, but if you want find an ID just go to persons profile and add ‘.json’ at the end of the URL.

Like this: https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/u/ercia-argent-dawn.json
You can just ctrl+f and search for ‘id’ and that should be it.

Naturally correct me if I’m wrong. \o/

Exactly!

Having had to use those forums for an issue after resubbing after 6 months, i would not want to deprive people of getting the help they need.

But they do not need to be posting on the realm forums.

I think in theory your post is generally right (forgive me, I’m only going to skim it this time around) and I don’t like ignoring people but I think realistically on these forums there is a point where interactions come to a standstill and it just becomes some unsubbed guy posting random words hoping to get a few scraps of attention with the same responses, counter-responses etc - when you’re at that point honestly I don’t mind a block to save other posters reading re-runs of an argument they’ve seen 50 times

100% disagree with this. Maybe you haven’t read some of the stranger offerings that lash out in various ways, though that may be because they’re deleted pretty quickly

If we’re talking about the same person, then I’ve probably missed any weirdness or passive-aggression in their posts due to the fact I’ve glazed over by the third ellipsis. Vague-posting to protect the identities and feelings of the questionably innocent.

I never did understand why Blizzard started allowing unsubbed people from posting on the forums. Was never a feature on the old forums.

1 reason can be that if someones account got hacked, they would be able to reach out to the forums.

But its not always the case that they are able to post. (bugs)
