I’M EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE IS IN BOTH RETAIL AND CLASSIC
so when I start the game I get 300+ fps. Then it starts to gradually reduce and in about an hour or so I am down to 60 fps. I exited the game, reopened as quick as i can and logged back in (the time it took to exit and log back in was less than 30 secs) and after i logged back in the game was running again in 300+ fps. This leads me to believe that it is not a thermal issue as my pc cannot cool itself down to max fps for less than 30 secs. I tried disabling all my addons and nothing changed. Has anyone encountered such an issue? btw, I haven’t experienced this in any other game.
Hey, im using 2080ti…after the latest nvidia update on Tuesday I have the following problems.
After few second flying my fps goes from 130 to 0, game is unresponsive for few seconds and after it gets back again at 130 fps few seconds later goes back at 0 the same process repeats and game is unplayable.
I have made ticket and got response to try few things like REPAIR GAME, put CACHEOLD WTFOLD etc. Even without any addons i still have the same problem. Running DirectX 11 or 12 had made no difference.
I have found a thread on forums to repair Windows, did it with no result.
I have switch to Nvidia driver before the latest one. NO Result.
I have run some program to see the GPU temp and usage, after opening the game it shows that GPU is working until I login on character after that IS N/A so i assume the game is not running on my GPU or is running for few seconds and after not.
If you have back up’s of older drivers, reinstall one of the older drivers to see if this support your system better. I informed another fellow here who had a similar issue with his AMD and he reinstalled an older driver with success. All I’m asking is that you test an older driver just to verify or isolate what the issue may be.
I will reinstall 2 versions older…tryed with the one before last one and had same problem. Will come feedback.
Blizzard support is going incredibly slow…even though i gave them files requested in first ticket…they answer with 4 steps that i explained above that i have done…no answer from them even though i gave more info since the first ticket.
EVERYONE I FOUND A SOLUTION!!! I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE ELSE IN THE FUTURE TOO!!!
This is what i found in a bluepost and I CAN CONFIRM that typing the command WORKED for me:
"
We’ve identified and are working on a fix for unbounded memory growth that’s affecting Windows users using DX11 and all Mac users.
We should ideally have a hotfix build deployed early next week with the fix.
In the meantime, typing /console gxrestart in chat should cause the client to jump back down to normal memory usage (but will keep growing again after).
On Windows, using DX12 or DX11 Legacy backends should avoid the bug all together.
For those curious about the code side of things, the bug was an std::deque::clear() call that was incorrectly placed in a code block that is only compiled in for internal clients. That made it so the bug never happened for us in internal testing but had the unbounded growth in public clients.
"
I now changed my settings to DirectX 11 and it seems the FPS gradual loss completely stopped.
