What would you like to see post Classic? Personally I would like TBC as that is an expansion I haven’t experienced either and I think upto the end of LK as the old world and quest style feels classic to me.
I would like to see a classic+ (Emerald Dream ?). An expansion in the spirit of classic (no flying, no LFG, dangerous and challenging world, slow pase progression with small but important rewards at each step, class-spec uniqueness, incentives for socializing, a living meritocratic economy, etc)
However, that will sadly never happen. Blizzard can’t make any good expansions (in the spirit of classic or in any other way). If they could you wouldn’t have had so many people cry out for the original version of the game.
Realistically we will get TBC classic servers, which I don’t care much about.
Personally I think many of the problems that brought retail wow to the very bad spot it is today come from that TBC.
I wonder how many times the same question needs to be posed. Then again, this seems a common trend on these forums
Well, wow calssic was a dead horse beaten to a pulp and things worked out quite well.
Rather that than crying over pvp
I’m not saying I disagree with the topic. In fact, I’m all for TBC. Classic is a heavily flawed game and it’d take a LOT of changes (removal of wbuffs, shrinking raid sizes, scrapping the current pvp system, nerfing consumables and how many you can stack, removing faction exclusivity of paladins and shamans etc) before I’d even consider Classic+.
I just don’t see much of a point in reiterating the same question and answers on different threads
So basically TBC lol.
Please correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t TBC introduce flying and a group-finder (an interface to find people and summoning stones).
TBC classic.
I would love for Blizzard to make Classic+ and release new content but sadly with their track record I don’t trust them to make a successful game anymore.
I’d much rather have old school Blizzard games because I know what I’m getting then.
Ironhope - TBC introduced flying mounts but LFG wasn’t introduced until WoTLK and LFR was introduced in Cata so you can see that WoTLK was the beginning of the end for Wow even though many people remember it fondly. I don’t really get why people dislike flying mounts as Wpvp was destroyed as soon as battlegrounds were introduced in Vanilla.
Dungeon groups in TBC formed through chat the same way they do in Classic. Aside from flying, everything you listed for Classic is present in TBC too. In fact, class/spec uniqueness was even better in TBC than it was in Vanilla, with more viable specs, more unique abilities and more diversified playstyles.
By TBC LFG I meant an interface to automatically find people + summons being made very very cheap and accessible.
But thanks for the mention.
It makes the world feel very empty and it makes players feel alone. Everyone is up there in his own ‘‘bubble’’ in a state of game-imposed autism.
The world no longer feels large, it no longer feels magical, you don’t even look at it anymore and you’re never in any danger.
While indeed, world pvp decreased by a billion % with bgs, it still is a very dangerous place in classic. At no point of the day can you go out farming/questing and not run into a ton of wpvp.
The world is, simply put, an adeventure. It is still very dangerous and it still gives you the chance to have fun being a @!$#head.
This being said, if I were to make a classic+ I would give sepparate, valuable rewards for world pvp.
You started this week and you already want something more?
No I’m giving my opinion of the future of Classic
No need to troll
Lol… “game-imposed autism”. I play on a PvE server where the world isn’t anywhere as dangerous, and yet ppl are a lot friendlier and more social. Only a pvp player could say or think something this stupid.
Didn’t you have an interface to find people for you and summoning stones at every step?
Maybe it’s not 100% (it sure is 75% if not more) the wotlk/cata LFG system, but it’s one huge step towards hell and it makes the game notably more convenient
I just wish ret paladin was decent in classic
No you didn’t. You just posted “LFM tank and CC dps for Shattered Halls hc” and hoped for the best. Though yeah you could summon ppl through the meeting stone, and I for one welcome this^^
LFD was a whole different world. 75+%… you have no idea of what you’re talking about.
Man I never played TBC but reading from the wiki it’s pretty much a quasi-LFG.
As I said, TBC made the game too convenient, took it too far from the harsher classic.
Don’t worry, you’re in good company - almost everyone on this forum who criticizes TBC never played it. But thx for confirming my suspicions
As a Lock main I also welcome the change, you don’t realise how truly lazy people are until you play a Warlock.
Hey, just stepped in to tell how TBC LFG interface worked:
As an ungrouped player, you can:
-
Select UP TO 3 dungeons you want to do, and add a brief description of yourself for each of them.
Example:
-Hellfire Ramparts - dps hunter lfg
-Slave Pens - well geared healer holy
-The Arcatraz - tank in full epics lfg
This way party leaders can see your description while they browse for players for a dungeon -
You can browse current groups forming for the instances you are filtering (there’s a search bar where you can select the instances you want to see).
These groups have a brief description (made by party leader), and you can /w them for invite
As a Leader of a group, you can:
-
put your group in “search” for other members. As before, you select the dungeon/s you want to do and add a description:
-The Arcatraz: LF3M dps and healers
This way the ungrouped players looking for group can see your group listed and /w you (point 2 up here) -
Browse ungrouped players looking for group for a dungeon you are filtering. Then you can /w them and add them to your party if they are up to it. (point 1 up here)
After you grouped with other players via communication, that’s it. You still have to run to the dungeon (or eventually use a Meeting Stone to summon missing players) and do it.
The TBC version of LFG is just a more organized “trade/lfg chat spam”. No teleport, no insta-grouping with randoms, nothing. It’s just a QoL helping people to form dungeon groups and spamming in chat is not needed anymore (you can still do it, of course).
The WotLK version is completely different, as others have already said. You just go in queue and get grouped up randomically with other people, without even whispering them for party etc.
