My original problem was not the black or white screen, but the random changing the resolution. Even between 2 click in the game. From too small to very large. Even larger as the physical screen.
I think so, the resolution is an option for the user and there is probably stored a file, which is locked during running. So, the app could not modify the file, during the run, while the old values are probably incompatible with the new version.
So, I searched the blizzard-specific files (even dirs) in the user-profile ("appdata%..), and “deleted” (renamed) them, to generate new ones after start the battle.net client.
At the moment there are new dirs and files.
The libcef-20181212T181634.574675.log shows some errors
[1212/182227.445:ERROR:gl_surface_egl.cc(538)] EGL Driver message (Error) eglCreatePbufferFromClientBuffer: Bad config.
[1212/182227.770:ERROR:gl_surface_egl.cc(538)] EGL Driver message (Error) eglCreatePbufferFromClientBuffer: Bad config.
[1212/182228.061:ERROR:gl_surface_egl.cc(538)] EGL Driver message (Error) eglCreatePbufferFromClientBuffer: Bad config.
But the random resizing seems to be eliminated at the moment.
Possible solution for windows 10 users (worked for me):
After installing battlenet and WoW for the 4th time and still receiving the “game is running… nothing” stuff i tried one last thing.
Went to : Word of Warcraft > retail > Cache and deleted the contents (a folder named ADB). Then to: Word of Warcraft main folder and set “World of Warcraft Launcher” to compatibility mode for windows 8 (also run as an administrator). Then again to World of Warcraft > retail and did the same with the WoW app (compatibility win8, administrator).
The game runs smoothly as i write this.
Hope you people find a solution soon.

ther eis no windows 8 in compability mode @Shodanas
For me does not work in any way…
My bad forgot to add that i run windows 10. Obviously only win 10 has a compatibility mode for win 8.
Hey i got mine to work basicly i did what customer support on US forums said in Wtf folder config you search for gxAPI and change D3D12 to D3D11 save the file and it worked. I also update addons but not sure if that had anything to do with this. I Hope this helps you guys , good luck
i have windows 8 cant do that…
i did that Dx3D11 thing before but didnt work for me this is what i ve got. i give up. enjoy all. i just bought the BFA and 30 days game time. Also i live in Turkey which is 1 euro= 6 Turkish Liras. You do the calculation Bye Guys have fun… Nothing to do with it…
Eyy my fellow Turk, same problem man. Like our goblin friends say, time is money x6 friend, however it seems only the paying side cares about it.
Same problem here. I wasted 1,5h support time for:
-new drivers for graphic card
-ALL windows updates
-full reinstall game
HOWEVER in this process, only once GAME LAUNCHED. In about 60% of windows updates but then same problem appeared again
Windows 7, AMD graphic card, LENOVO laptop
Also had to contact lenovo support, they helped me to install amd drivers correctly .
edit: problem name: AppHangB1
I’m from Hungary and 1€ is 300+ HUF. And, I pay in € for the game
You do the calculation
same story still white screen and cannot launch the game gg ez i preordered BFA and i could not play competitive pvp cuz my class ( dk ) was not existing in the pvp scene and now when they tried to fix it i cannot play the game ;/ ez gg wp
So after the update I cannot play anymore. Game doesn’t start. Reinstall or repair didn’t help
did you solve the problem?
For people with AMD on Windows 10 64 bit, try using AMD Adrenaline Edition 18.9.3 version(others might aswell try also). Use AMD clean utility to clean the system, reboot, install the version of driver, reboot and try again.
I am on a AMD A8-7410 with R5 integrated gpu and R5 M335 dedicated gpu.
Yeah, dude from customer support told me in above replies that my graphic card suddenly needs update. Same graphic card that worked yesterday, guess what =?= doesn’t work today… lmao.

In the error folder, I found some The instruction at “0x00007ff9a17eb81d” referenced memory at “0x0000000000000000”.
The memory could not be “read” error…
Same issue. My specs meet the minimum requirements. It worked fine just before 3 am when the patching started. After the patch, I can’t even get into the game.

I’m having the same issue - the game does not launch after the patch. I have Intel HD and AMD Radeon R5 M330, with AMD Adrenaline 18.9.3. Win7 64 bit. So yeah
I have already completely reinstalled the game, ran the repair tool, etc. - still the game does not launch. Now I’m trying some of these suggestions listed here too, but I’m afraid it’s in fact beyond me to make it work, I’m not a sofware specialist. And I have just renewed my subscription

There seem to be a lot of people dismissive of the idea that a graphics card can work on a game before a patch and not afterwards…
It was a major patch, 16GB, they’ve clearly changed the graphics engine a bit, no doubt to use newer features available on newer graphics cards. Developers do not use new features as standard for many years to give some backwards compatibility, but eventually they do and the minimum requirements move up, patch by patch.
So it is entirely possible for a game to work on a machine before a patch and not afterwards, if the technology in use has moved on and your machine is further back (either via hardware or the drivers that enable software to use it).
