Yet there are also people with VERY updated graphic cards/GPUs and still have the problem…
Absolutely the game should move on and older tech no longer supported. But that should be expansion to expansion not in a patch. People buy the game, pay the subs and have a right to expect what they purchased lasts the contracted duration.
With WoW, there are small patches frequently, and big expansion patches once every two years, but they have mid-expansion major patches, three usually per expansion, this is the first.
I happen to agree with you that they should probably lock technological requirements per expansion. But I don’t believe they are contractually obliged to, pretty sure the contract absolves them of almost all responsibility.
There’s nothing to say this isn’t just a bug, something they’ve not tested properly. Just wanted to chip in on the notion that “a little patch” can’t change requirements. It can.
They should say that with the release of every new patch.
A question : whatever difference they did (terms of graphic and so on), wasn’t it supposed to be activated when the 16gigs file was downloaded? I mean I downloaded that days ago, what spoiled my game was the last *&%^# 40 mb file
My understanding: When you download the pre-patch, it doesn’t install it at the time. It waits till the version changes, then does the install, possibly with a small download of last minute alterations. None of the pre-patch code was ever installed or active on your copy till 8.1 went live.
Nice preordering some beta expansion after that waiting 4 months for the 1st patch which is supposed to fix the beta game that we bought and now we cannot plat it, Nice job blizz. I hope when i wake up tomorrow to download a new one with this stupid problem fixed.
So basicly after w8ing for about 15 min on white screen the game finally loads , graphics look awful like it came from 70’s , when clicking logging in and clicking on system game crashes , tried this 3 times every time same outcome
Still no blue post, no fixes! GG blizzard you did it this time
yesterday was everything allright, today when i try lauch the game i have the same issue, white screen and after waiting +/- 15 min i tried change “system” settings, game crushed
i have Radeon R5 M230 and Windows 7
Agree with you that contract in the legal sense is too strong, obligation may be better. They sold BfA in its entirety not just 8.0 so moving the tech goal posts, if indeed this is the problem, would be a great way to alienate many people.
Don’t you guys have video cards?
Nah but still. My Radeon HD 3300 maybe not the fastest beast around but it ran packed Boralus at 35-40 fps yesterday with not that much issue.
If i am not able to get to a login screen today, that a pretty huge bump in system requirements over night.
Patching / updating stuff in an MMO game which renders paying customer’s hardware unable to run it AFTER an expansion has launched is a new low for Blizzard. Said people have paid and bought the expansion and paid for subscription time. Last night they where playing normally and today their hardware is not supported, old etc…
If you plan to make such changes you make them just before an expansion comes and you TELL people in advance. You do not take their money first and then proceed to screw them like this.
This was a first class ahole move.
Hi all,
I may have the same or just an equal problem and learned one thing during testing that I thought just to share.
My main gets kicked out after login almost immediately after start. My Main is in a guild. A char without a guild was not kicked out of the game after login. After an invite into the guild, WoW stopped immediately and the char could not get in the game anymore.
After having the char kicked out of the guild again, WoW works fine.
I just do not want my main to get kicked out of the guild.
We are talking about something different here. We can’t even get client running because our GPU’s became old overnight
Update: i can confirm that at least for some of us the issue is DX12 support. I changed the API from DX11 to DX12 via the in game menu. After quitting WoW i no longer could log back in. I press play and get the “game is running” message without the game starting ofc.
This is clearly on Blizzards end since until last night i WAS using DX12. Which is the default API for my GTX 1060 6GB gfx.
The method to resolve this is: world of Warcraft -> retail -> WTF open the config file with notepad and change gxApi from “D3D12” to “D3D11” and gxMaximize from 1 to 0.
i have r9 280x, is it really that old??
wont bother with this mess will buy gtx 1060 tomoro and /spit on blizz
Nice job. Yesterday i had like 50-60 fps in Uldir. And now the only thing i can see is white screen.
well bad thing is… that i have reinstalled all game etc… so my WTF folder is completely empty
No way. Keep your euros. A r9 280x is more than capable to handle WoW. The problem is definitely on Blizzards end.
