well I googled gbid since I just started playing classic again and there is a thread here which explains that the gold should be split between all players in the raid…
on my server ( shazzra ) this clearly isn’t the case, everyone is just paying the raid leader, so is this only on my server or how do other servers handle this?
In Ashbringer I myself, organaise a lot of pugs, including gbids and I share all the gold between whole raid. Depends on RL how much greedy is he.
I would never join a gbid where I have to pay to RL. Pay him for what? He cant carry this raid alone.
Not really seen any gold bid runs on Mirage but I’ve seen them back in vanilla, back then the RL would keep a running total of each item sold off and then the gold was split among the 20 or 40 people present at the end of the run.
Letting the RL keep it all seems silly to me as like Blizalka above said, he cannot solo the raid, the rest of the group is just as ‘entitled’ to the gold split.
I wouldn’t wanna join such a run if he keeps it all to himself.
Never seen a gbid run on Firemaw where raid leaders take all the gold. It’s usually split 30% host 70% raid.
on Shazzrah(A) all those runs are “gbid” where leader pockets the money.
Haven’t seen a single, traditional “gdkp” run advertised since launch of Classic where gold would be split among raid.
why even bother going?
because if ur rich you can get geared way faster than a guy who goes to a soft ress run etc.

I host PuGs on Shazzrah with GBID, especially Idols in ZG. And yes I dont carry the Raids alone, but I put in hours of work. Its not like 30min searching and youre done. it might aswell be 1h or even longer. Also preparing the spreadsheet for Soft Reserves for the Raid, answering every whisper with questions, doing the loot in the Raid, explaining/calling in the Raid, etc., etc. In return for all of that Im getting the gold. At the end I didnt do the Raid alone, but without me, that Raid wudnt happen at all.
So yes I take the Gold for myself.
@ OP you just found a niche, time to set up GBIDs where not only the RL is getting all the gold.

This is your opinion. We can talk again if you ever host ZG for 5 hours or MC for a whole day with the whole week before already announcing and searching. It is a messed up mindset to think you can go into a Raid and expect to get gold for basically just killing a few mobs while also grabbing items.
I dont get the entitlement part. If ppl are running with him it is their decision. I guess he is not forcing them at gunpoint.

Usually I get needed peeps in half a day spamming, while farmin herbs for my consumes kekw. And I am on mid-pop server, compared to full Shazz. This sound ridiculus.
Im not GBIDing all items in those Raids. And yes Im recruiting longer to not invite those green geared people that make the run go forever. Im filling my pug in a way that make me finish ZG in less than an hour. Same for MC.
And keeping the Gold for the only 2 items beeing the IDOLS is totally fair. That has nothing to do with greed. I can imagine your doggo 3hour MC runs, idc about that.
And you prolly dont even have searching competition as on Shazz where you compete against 3 other grps if you just start to search on the day you host.
There is a saying I don’t know if it translates into English well, “you buy a dog, but bark yourself” it means you’re paying for the work your doing yourself.
Most real fast gdkp runs are done by 20-25 members of a top end guild with 20-15 paying whales, MC is done in and hour plus change. All gold gets split among the 20-25 carry players… given most items sell for 50-200g it’s fair enough gold for all involved.
If your joining a pug… you’re a pug… all members are the same. The person leading it is the same as every other pug member. The sense of entitlement comes from the leader thinking he is worth all the gold from everyone doing the actual killing. I mean a whole day in MC??? What level of pug is that… 5hours in ZG??? Dear god, that’s a punishment not a service.
But that does answer the question of the caliber of player that joins his “pay me to lead you for 3 times the time needed to clear the place“ mindset.
You realise the time measurement is involving the time to search, preparation and not the actual raid. Whether MC or ZG are cleared in less than an hour.
I start pug MC’s from time to time, ya- if takes about an hour in LFG provided you don’t do the x-item reserves BS, and ya it might take you an hour and a half versus an hour, but the upside is you don’t spend 4 hours in LFG trying to save 15 minutes clear time.
This is so late in the game classic that every rusher, every gamer dad, every weekend warrior has run MC to boredom and more and just goes for the couple of items they miss or gearing up an alt and no the strats inside out anyway.
Thats what I thought when I started doing duch runs. At the end those casual runs with barely effort ended in 2hour runs with a couple wipes because people clearly either had never been in the raid or just never had to care about mechanics because of the nature of such big raids. Either way I dont want that to happen, because at the end less people sign in again afterwards. So i rather put in more time in searching so that I can provide smooth and fast runs. For the other guy posting here it is stupid af but the people joining my Raid are happy about it.
I would never join one of the gbids he is setting up. The only thing I am saying is that he is free to do as he sees fit and ppl are free to join that.
Organizing prio loot pugs (ZG, MC & BWL) with some guildies myself and I dont see the work wäckii is describing myself.
