Gearing system killed pvp

All of the above are the effects of bad systems being emplement by dev.

How did ion said “it is impossible to change your covenant when you like”. Yeah right.

There where boosters before but not on this level.
If one player enjoyed the game he wouldnt have left just because the bald guy said so.

I’d argue (cautiously) that they’re queuing up for bg’s hoping for good games, but the imbalance of gear is ruining it for them (& everyone else).

Clearly not, hence why players like me are abandoning the game.

As soon as they announced (1day before SL launched) Honor gear was capped at fodder level (after grinding multiple ranks of useless gear), players were highlighting this glaringly obvious issue.
But they doubled & trebled down on keeping lowbies capped at fodder (instead of brackets/gear equalisation).

I can’t blame lowbies for wanting to PvP, it’s the only thing I wanted to do in WoW too. But if they’re making it a garbage experience, they can poke it.

Is abandoning game more fun than spending 2-3 hours once to farm Korthia?

Yeh I think it is mate.

I don’t want to dis WoW, I really enjoyed it when it PvP was competitive & I honestly didn’t mind PvE’ing when my friend was still playing. But the philosophy underpinning PvP just grips my poop too much now.

tbh, I just want off the hamster wheel mate. I’d be happy as xp-off at the bottom of some lowbie bracket, as long as I could just log in & play. But I can’t, I’m forced to chase some carrot that I really don’t care about & jump from one foot to the next before switching to different content to jump through different hoops in the hope I can eventually return to my preferred content -only to find myself on the other side of the unbalanced equation taking no pleasure from winning by squishing lowbies.
I honestly don’t think I want to waste another second doing digital chores in a game I used to enjoy just to squish lowbies.

Are ‘private server tournament realms’ a thing?
I’d quadruple my sub to play there.

Cool. Now let’s allow having more tiers and allow people to move from one tier to the other if they perform especially well or especially poor. Let’s assign numbers to tiers for simplicity: 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, etc. In fact, let’s have a continuous scale and put people into the same fight not when their numbers coincide exactly, but when they are close enough.

Gz, we just did rated solo. Also known as #soloqueue. Magic.

First you cant get 220 gear in 1-2 hours of korthia. The research upgrade cost gets expensive real quick. All while the research you need to spend on such upgrade (over 2k on one item) is necessary for sockets and conduits rather than wasting it on one item you will replace the next day.
Second, even with this gear you will still be cannon fodder to people with 240+ gear. A oneshot to people with rival and duellist gear.
Third, BGs are intended to help getting starter gear for arena. And gear disparity in recent wow expansions is just imbalanced. In TBC you can still have large impact with bad gear. I can play a hunter and defend our boss in altrac for example by placing Frost trap and scatter shotting enemy tank.
What can I do here with fresh gear? Even lets say with 200 ilevel gear? I can die do someone’s AoE without him even acknowledging my existence.

You can still CC people perfectly, also hunter’s sniper shot is always 20% regardless of gear. You can do objectives like taking flag etc. Problem is most of those 25k just rush and try to dps (sometimes not even bothering taking mines at beginning so I have to capture it which makes us lose because I’m then too late for critical fight for ww). Most of these 25k people just join for free honor not even bothering about trying to win.

CC is very gimped in Shadowlands. People have now also way more tools to destroy you in such short amount of time that your cc is useless. There are now also way more ways to avoid ccs and get immunities. In TBC you scatter trap and run away after warrior intercepts you, now he can jump at you, stun you, spear you etc etc.

No because it scales with versa and other shots still hit like wet noodle. You still die in 1 second if someone with gear looks at you.

You can’t because you are oneshot. A rogue can oneshot you while you are carrying the flag, a hunter can oneshot you from 100 km away while you are running. Once they see that you have 25k hp they will just laugh at you.
The fact that someone has 25k hp in bg is already a proof that that person doesn’t want to win at all. It’s just stealing spot from potentially someone who would actually contribute.

Be in tank spec, problem solved.

That is true yes. That is the problem.

Thats even bigger troll because tanks take 50% more damage or something like that. So you die even faster.

Yes but your low hp won’t attract enemies so easily. Just be a tank and hide somewhere and you should be +/- safe.

Sounds like leeching with extra steps

70% more CP is nice. But it does not make those who quit to come back. 220 is still a joke.

I have full PvP gear including 2 PVP trinkets higher than Korthia gear (upgraded that) and it really is hit and miss when it comes to BGs. Usually a miss, I’m still only at 45k HP and face full groups with 55k / 60k+. One on one I might win a few, get a few kills, but usually I’m just being farmed (like the rest of my group) and forget about the objectives. I can play for 4 hours and not win one BG (random or random epic).

That being said, I think it’s more a me problem since I can’t and tbh don’t want to do arena (I hate 2v2, don’t have WoW friends and pugging… well… no thanks) for rating. So I’m kinda stuck at a certain item level and know what time it is when I see high HP’s on the enemy team.

I came back to WoW for some casual PvP, but I’m just gonna let my sub run out. It’s not for me anymore.

I pugged 1800 as Venthyr DH, surely you can do it as rogue

The rogue is just an alt, I mostly PvP on my paladin.

I see that you have 2300+ arena games. Well done, but I really don’t see myself doing that just to have more fun in casual random BGs.

Still only 34 honor level, while most here have 300+ (so 10x more games played). It’s just my first season so I had to play more to learn.

Mate. Are we having that ancient argument again that you don’t need gear to play in random bgs? Because that nonsense argument was done to death as far back as 2008 and even earlier, and it was shot down many tens of times. It’s 2021 now. If you are an old player, stop trolling. If you are a new player, just stop.

You need gear to play in random bgs. Let’s not be idiots. This is heavily exacerbated in SL due to their stupid gearing model.

Well, yeah, I was just saying that if somebody dares to enter bg with 0 gear - at least they could focus on cc and objectives instead of just rushing into fight and die (I’m having games where nobody but me even captures Mines at start so I have to waste my time on it while 25k hp plebs rush into fight on ww to get slaughtered for no reason).
