I always thought the helf looking velves were just the people in Telogrus who look like that, you know, the High Elf Wayfarer NPCs that learn Void but weren’t there during the recruitment scenario to get the velf appearance.
There’s never been an explanation to it beyond these npcs saying stuff along the lines of “we can finally study unrestricted”.
The process by which void elves are created was a big cosmic fluke as nether-prince Durzaan’s trap was foiled halfway. The void elves’ collective creation is more a classic superhero origin story than a process that can be readily replicated. As far as presented lore goes, there will only ever be one generation of void elves as they’re worse off than the worgen and forsaken in demographic stability. Few were created in the first place and they keep dying off.
Chasing such power in the first place is a risk like the illidari; opening yourself up to malign influence and having to exercise ruthless self control for however long you’ll manage until The Voices break you. All for a power boost of dubious value.
They’ve been permanently altered with their weird eyes and tentacles regardless of skintone. Being uniformly blueish except for Alleria who turned into whatever she is by a wholly different process, my assumption to justify other skintones is that she taught them to shift back like she does into something less obviously tainted. The weaponized corruption still comes out in combat like the worgen curse but learning Alleria’s trick for subtlety seems reasonable.
Happy Halloween everyone!
Dream Diary Chapter 79:
Yuki.
Picture an old timey samurai movie. A lone ronin walks from town to town to solve problems with his sword. The class rigidity of feudal Japan means the warrior can only make a living in one way without shame.
The ronin meets an aristocratic woman who recently lost her husband. As there is no shame in aiding such a person, the ronin does what he can. Suspecting that her husband’s death was a murder-robbery, the woman wants the ronin to investigate and recover the stolen jewelry.
Finding no leads to any given person except the drunken rants and rumours of locals, he is driven to search the woman’s house. The jewelry is found underneath the house along with the husband’s belongings. It’s as if they were hidden by someone with ready access to the house.
The woman thanks the ronin with subdued joy even as he increasingly suspects her to be the killer. A lot of details can’t add up to any other conclusion as he presents them and rather than being upset as the implied accusation of being the murderer she slyly states “Maybe? I might be. Who is to tell?”.
Who indeed? It isn’t his station to bring a noblewoman to justice. They part on awkward terms with the smiling woman continuing to playfully imply her guilt with knowledge of details the ronin uncovered but didn’t share. Hiring him to find answers was all a game to her.
Bonus episode:
The rest of tonight’s dream is dedicated to a “test” in which my dreamscape self was brought high up in the sky over an unfamiliar world, floating and maintaining altitude by holding onto a silk streamer. High above the clouds, I begin to fall and must hold onto the fabric to guide my descent like a directionless parachute.
Pulse pounding, I reach the ground shaking and is informed that I did it wrong and if I want the prize I have to go up and do it properly. No information is given of how to do it or what the prize is. Symbolism.
So Shadowlands huh. Thoughts so far?
Was talking with a friend and ironically after all the memes about WoW copying FFXIV, the Shadowbringers theme actually works for Shadowlands in a way.
Angels bathing in blood = watch the Uther short and just play through Bastion really
The world’s end = I mean there’s a literal gateway to the afterlife in the sky now
The road we walk is lost in the flood = The maw is getting too many souls, a “flood” of souls if you will
Everyone is doing content and no one wants to RP with me.
Those are my thoughts.
Meh. It’s solid, but nothing special. I like the time-gating, and that most of the stuff is weekly instead of daily, but I dislike how boring and annoying the daily stuff is, especially the WQs.
Also, the fact that the paragon chests contain mounts (despite them promising that they won’t add any more mounts in them) leaves a seriously bad taste in my mouth, since that means I have to do all the WQs for the day if I want to get them in this expansion.
Not much of a dream diary but tonight gifted me a vision of a bus full of actors on tour in mismatched costumes practicing a musical number on their way. I recall the lyrics perfectly and it’s this song:
I remember when this forum used to be full of life and people roleplaying in the various threads. Now 'tis a ghost town. Alas…
Then help give it CPR and post some threads, man!
Ye have inspired me, my good man! I’ll do it!
I don’t know why I have these bus dreams set to music but they certainly are recurring.
Same can be said for in game right now. I keep checking various RP hubs and it’s either deserted entirely or has barely a few people RPing in pairs.
Fear not, lad. With how this expansion’s structured at the endgame, the RP will recover sooner than usual. Or so I hope…
Perhaps the dearth of RP in the usual hubs is being affected by people leveling in Shadowlands zones?
Well, leveling and playing through the story. I must confess to this myself: since SL started, I haven’t traveled back to any Azeroth zones at all.
It’s not that. The capitals are sharded. That’s why you cannot find people there.
I thought they’d remove that after the prepatch event was over? Or am I out of the loop?
No, they did not. Still sharded.
That certainly explains a lot. Excuse me while I scream into the nearest pillow.
What’s the thread count?
