tbh I wouldn’t know where to begin.
But I really feel like Genn speaks from the heart in that cutscene. “The world ( of warcraft ) is changing, and much as I try I find it hard to change with it.”
Quite amusing how this all started because Garrosh needed a port in the Eastern Kingdoms.
And Sylvanas just bombed the plague out of it, making it uninhabitable.
Quite hilarious how nothing came out of it, and it was just used as a way to introduce the Worgen to the Alliance.
The fact that undead just left after they had their fun of genocidal campaign, is hilarious. But it’s in line with the twitter devs trying to neuter every single thing in World of Warcraft.
It’s such a tiresome phrase in general, since although change is inevitable not all change is necessarily for the better and a fictional setting does not need to conform to modern day morality in the first place. It’s fantasy, something people invest in largely because it isn’t the equivalent of the modern day real world.
You didn’t dream it. Constructive Criticism and conversation is either purged or somehow violates terms and conditions. Although it is never specified what.
The story writing has suffered greatly. Not sure if even Chris Metzen can save it at this point.
For the Fosaken to expand in territory - power and influence will feel to much like the Scourge except without a Lich King to oversee it all.
I don’t see the issue with the scarlets being villains honestly, yes you’re right in the sense that the scourge were incredibly horrifying but we already have the argents as a group that opposed them in a just and righteous manner
The scarlets however are what happens when those who face horrors become horrors themselves.
Its the whole while fighting monsters becareful not to turn into one yourself and if you stare too long into the abyss the abyss will stare back into you.
The scarlets basically stared too long into the abyss and as an institution are too far gone to be rescued without just torching it to the ground and starting over.
But that’s fine, imo it’d be boring if you just turned them into the argent dawn 2.0
I do agree their appearance in gilneas came out of left field and was just strange, I guess I can understand it if the idea was the scarlets view of human purity cannot stomach the worgen but there being just 0 buildup there while also abandoning what we thought was going on (blighted beyond habitability) which also completely changed what most people thought we were going to do.
I feel like it wasn’t supposed to be scarlets but they got into time trouble and just decided on some quick killquests with scarlets.
The whole Gilneas in my opinion just falls inn in a line of “this sounds cool, lets do it” that has destroyed a lot in WoW the last years. It’s no coherent thought, no process behind it, nothing that remotely ties it into the game’s story, lore or anything. Just out of nowhere, poof, there it is, because the developers woke up one morning and thought “Wouldn’t that be cool?” and went for it.
This; like children with duplo blocks.
I waited 12 years for an epic reclamation of Gilneas and proper avenging of Prince Liam and our many dead. I got nothing. Even the Tmog and mount are trash.
This whole ordeal was what made me decide I will not buy TWW until I’m 101% that the story is in good hands.
Exactly. The return of Glineas went like a wet fart.
Gilneans were treated like beaten dogs just happy to be allowed back inside the house from the rain and a meal and bowl of water.
Scapegoating the Scarlet Crusade just went wrong.
Tess was the ignored daughter because it was all about Liam. The ‘I have always been there’ bit ignored the Gilneans history and commitment to the Alliance since the Cataclysm.
Yes vengeance was a large motivator. But a military requires an infrastructure to maintain.
The focus of the writers was NEVER about HOW Gilneas was reclaim. Which is why the player received such a terrible story. That many people have objected to. On the Blizzard forums and on Social Media.
It was just a half baked: There you go! Gilneans got their country back.
The writing quality has gotten worse and worse. Even before the terrible Shadowlands. I doubt Chris Metzen will be given creative control. Also there are Diversity Equity Inclusion officers that have been hired by Blizzard Entertainment. So good story telling will NOT be the priority.
They might have relocated their forces during the 4th war given both sides were running oout of troops in lore. Though…What I find stupid is the fact that there are enough scarlets to siege not only gilneas but also lordearon in teh span of a month. xD
We wouldn’t want things like population numbers to tie the hands of creators now, would we?
But I guess the humans only ran out of soldiers, because half of them were bigots that deserted to the Scarlets, that for some reason didn’t care about fighting the Forsaken back tehn, or something.
Humans were the most populos race in the setting before the Scourge attacked so it is easy to see where they got their numbers from.
The human populations are dwindling across Azeroth. Regardless of faction.
Scourge wiped out many and the Horde also committed massacres against human populations. Even more so with the Scourge factions known as Forsaken.
Who have killed and or raised Lordaereons - Stormwind - Gilneans - Kul Tiran humans into undeath.
No they aren’t. Stormwind is still the strongest kingdom. Any Horde race would have envy to be this healthy.
That is factually incorrect.
Gilneans was once the most powerful human nation. Genn Greymane understood this. But chose to build a wall and give the absolute minimum forces for the Alliance of Lordaeron. Then the kingdom of Lordaeron was objectively more powerful. When the Horde sacked Stormwind killing every man woman and child the Horde could get their hands on. Especially defenceless civilians.
It was Lordaeron that the survivors fled to.
Stormwind had to become strong. Lordaeron fell to the scourge then they became the Forsaken. There was not much human kingdoms left to face the Horde.
Stromgarde was the strongest human kingdom ever. However this has to be rebuilt. Efforts was made and Horde aggression during the 4th war was repelled.
The Gilneans could rebuild and become stronger than they once was in time.
The Gilnean people immediately began efforts to rebuild their nation. As news travels then more Gilneans will return. Like the Gilnean settlement on the Broken Isles.
Horde races are very healthy.
The Nightborne are a success story. Recovered from a withered state. Retook their city after traitors sold them to the burning legion.
The Bloodhoof Tauren are growing where they are expanding into the Dragon Isles and making settlements there.
The Goblins are so wealthy that Gallywix alone financed the 4th war on the Horde side. Wars are expensive.
The marriage of Lorthemar and Thalyssra strengthens Horde elven bonds and relations. The Greenskin Orcs are now bringing back their old traditions that they left behind on Draenor. The Maghar Orcs found a new home on Azeroth.
The Forsaken have greatly bolstered their numbers so they might not worry about “dying” out.
Zandalari Trolls despite being wounded through the civil war and the raid of DazarAlor. Found a place within the Horde despite Zandalari hostility.
Vulpera were sand nomads, they traded their tents for spiked houses.
What Horde race have not prospered in some way?
The Forsaken. No way to make more, even if there was, our leaders are mute, the male ones and the females seem to be Alliance fangirls. I mean we just saw Calia pull out the Forsaken from Gilneas without a fight. Hell, she even decided to unoficially enlist Horde aid to help the Alliance and Belmont who fought tooth and nail to take that city said nothing. Not one peep. He wasn’t even shown.
So we are stuck with no city, with a very confusing leadership system, where half of the so called council leading us just does not exist and the other half is either doing the Alliance favors or running around trying to be their BFF.
Not only, but the Forsaken identity was sponged off, just like that cause certain people had a huge thing for villan-batting Sylvanas, Garrosh syle. So what are the forsaken these days? Cause crap knows.
How you call that healthy is beyond me.
This is the problem with being Scourge. Eventually your corpses will rot so will have to be maintained or strengthened. The Horde might overlook or partake in necromancy and Undeath but for everybody else? Our dead stays dead.
Derek Proudmoore was dead for a long time. But the Horde forced him into Undeath and tortured him. This makes the Forsaken a threat. Since Undead pinky promises to not curse you with being new Undead will not win over anyones trust.
Many people objected to how bad the return of Gilneans back to Gilneas was. Many threads and videos on social media.
Being chummy with Lilian Voss even after her rampage on Kul Tiras just does not sit well with most Alliance people. I made a point to refuse to call Voss in for aid when completing the quest.
This good will gesture of just handing back Gilneas back to the Gilnean people. This is a debt that no doubt the Horde will come to collect on some day. It was a tactical move. ESPECIALLY as the Alliance and Horde will need time to replenish and rebuild. Forsaken knows nothing of nurturing future generations. Even when seeing some of their living descendants that survived the fall of Lordaeron. What they once was died a long time ago.
There is much talk of the Forsaken moving from the Undercity and building an above ground city.
Horde leadership is…confusing. There seems to be a “council” for everything now. Instead of Warchief’s and those that lead the people in one direction.
This is not a problem for Alliance to resolve.
It is true that the Undead can not be called healthy.
However their numbers are being bolstered. No longer are they former Lordaereons but seems to be swelling with different races of Undead.
How long until the Undead of the Zandalari Trolls join their ranks?
While the Valkyr may be gone. The Lich King still has the secrets to create more. The Loa might create new Undead as well.
With the rebuilding of Stromgarde. Perhaps the living of Lordaeron or at least their remnants. Could find some solace. Some fled to Stormwind others to Kul Tiras. But it should not just be the dead. Imagine the terror seeing what you could become when old age - sickness or something else eventually ends your life.
Will you remain dead or become like the others? The Forsaken have also became massively more powerful. Long gone are the days where they pleaded to join the Horde for survival. Now what Alliance Human Kingdom has not suffered because of the Forsaken?
We know Calia is a filthy traitor working into the pockets of Stormwind. Every Forsaken fan has criitized that before. She is so much worse then Baine even.
All I see is a bunch of filthy traitors betraying their own people and allies so Jaina and Anduin continue to be nice to them which is allthey care about. Thrall, Baine and Calia are the worst and should be executed.
beccasue gilneas belongs not to the forsaken, and giv it back is a way to ensure peace, and give not the alliance a causus belli fopr war.
And gibing it back it not calias choince alone, but on behaf of the whole council who rather seek peac as the next confrontaion, espeacally weakend and the scralett crusad alwasy luring to backstab like in the heritage questline.
only you, and always ignioring that blizzard extra brougzt a diolog in which she stattes she is not an allince pupped, drring the cleansing of undercity, but you and some raciac foraksen fans who cant deal with it and still running behind sylavans who actually betaryed her people.
ironic if you considers who betaryed the horde first…a certain banshee who start theri war for a comicn being, taht also the own people get slaugtherd.
The council ensure taht no power hungy beeing coud abuse that.
