I really don’t think that this thread should be derailed this badly. It was (and hopefully may still continue to be) a great initiative, even if I was a sideline observer for the most part.

And, for what last night seems to show, when someone doesn’t know what the other plans to do, it brings about scenes where one party attacks the other at midnight and the early hours of the morning for most people

It was at around 9:30pm - 10pm with many people online on both sides - with the attack being telegraphed by a much smaller group of rogues unsuccessfully attacking first (to act as a kind of OOC warning)

To paint it as some 3am OOC move isn’t really true to the reality

Against Quilboar and centaurs, sure.

If you look up (for example) wanted quests on wowhead, you can find that the Horde puts bounties on a little more than quilboar

They even kill thieves without trial for stealing bread in Orgrimmar as per the cooking dailies

Not what I’m saying, thanks for inferring. As per my original post, it’s not the idea of Consequences people are objecting to, it’s the lack of communication and collaboration around the imposition of said consequences.

Once Rogmasha made the OOC choice to allow the capture (which once again I will say I expected to end in failure on an OOC level, purely because we play in a setting where you can teleport across the world in ten seconds via portals if you choose to do that) we obviously spoke to them about what they’d be OK with for their character (and as far as I know told them they could just escape if they really wanted that)

This is absolutely not the case with this particular piece of roleplay because Rogmasha was an angel OOC and I hope I can be as tasteful OOC when their character inevitably throws mine in a jail cell during SoO mk. 2 but I have seen this weird stance emerge where characters initiate a conflict (without any OOC communication), have the fact that a group is after them IC telegraphed to them (sometimes even with OOC whispers) and then are surprised or even angry (complete with weird OOC emotes) when what they were told was being roleplayed comes to fruitition

On our part the actual consequence part (ie. what happens to the character in question at the end) is more or less left to the person behind the character (if only because that is the only way it works in WoW roleplay, you can’t make someone emote something they don’t want to). What they choose may not be to my personal taste but that honestly doesn’t matter because the choice is theirs

You’re not working together to craft a compelling story, you’re running a steamroller through the middle of it then complaining when people go ‘hey, I don’t like being run over, could you not?’

I think that is pretty disingenuous for you to post considering the amount of communication you and I had during a similar incident =(

I’m pretty darn certain I recall a refusal to acknowledge combat that wasn’t PVP/Duels, correct me if I’m wrong? That might have been a while ago.

That was specifically in relation to 1v1 duels with people you don’t trust to emote fight

Even though Rogmasha’s OOC forum posts make my head spin we have roleplayed in some form since I was like 14 so I trust them quite a bit

Well, the reason the grunts are after Rogmasha is because she was in command of a group that killed a grunt / hosted meetings that had anti-Sylvanas plotting (as per the war crimes book the leaders of groups are liable for their underlings on Azeroth? Gonna need a powerful loremaster like Telaryn to confirm, I haven’t read that book…)

The fact that you specifically complain that “It’s a shame that [something] happened for IC reasons” is pretty telling but I thik pretty par for course in terms of your track record Uruk. You should try not to be so invested OOC and instead look forward to an IC conflict that will (judging by the game’s current story) end in the anti-Sylvanas / rebel / whatever group’s triumph in a few patches - and if that is too big an ask you can easily just put every single one of us on ignore and enjoy RP without that interference. All RP is based on consent after all

And what is my track record supposed to mean friend? And I believe that you yourself can confirm that i did not take any OOC into IC last night and have RPed along as my character naturally would, separating IC from OOC.

On the subject of continuing the work left behind the Frozen Paw Roaming Hub I believe I and the crew of the Entelechy will pick up the slack in the mean time, hopefully we’ll see some people whilst in Highmountain!

5 - Ships Aground

The new occupants of Highmountain’s northern shore have caused a slew of trouble for the naval traffic in the area. Somehow - for reasons obvious - the Naga have managed to turn off the light at the top of a massive totem serving as a lighthouse, warning sailors of Highmountain’s shallow northern shore. It will need to be re-lit.

I believe we’ll start with this first, will publish an update when appropriate!

The smell of sulfur and gunpowder hangs heavy in the air as the denizens of the aphotic depths and their would be druges are driven beneath the tides-… an unexpected ally parting the shorelines mists as the form of a ship was made out, green sails flapping amidst the wind.

The Entelechy has arrived in Highmountain and with a loud introduction as one may expect, we’ll be about for a few weeks and look forward to finishing what the Frozen Paw started!

Alas; the concept’s main drivers are for the time being put on ice - after a somewhat dramatic encounter and conclusion shortly after our arrival in Highmountain, the group was sent scattered to the winds, and many of us will currently be attending the Silverpine campaign in the near future. The recent updates are largely from individuals deciding to engage the threats still in place.

That said, I’d be happy to keep updating this thread with maps/threats and locations for the Roaming Hub - and potentially getting back into it with the Frozen Paw in the future.
