Has transfer from Hardcore been opened yet?

I was going to comment on this thread, but it is closed down.
Is it possible by now?
If not, any estimate as to when it will open?

Transfers From Hardcore Realms Temporarily Closed

We’ve disabled all transfers from Classic Hardcore realms to other intended destinations, so that we can investigate and fix an issue with the service. We do not yet know when the fix will be complete, and we will update this thread as necessary. Thank you!

I just tested. It is possible to transfer from Era HC to any non-HC Era server as well as from Anniversary HC to Anniversary PvE.
And no, you do not need to die to transfer, so I still did not technically PLAY on the Anniversary server

Isn’t that defeating the purpose?
If you die but still can play the character, then it was never hardcore. All your death means is that you are now playing with a different player pool.

Why would you transfer if not dead?Regular vanilla just doesnt cut it after getting bit by the hardcore bug.
I recently died on my 60 warrior, transfered it to pve and completely lost interest in it .
It to me feels like playing a lesser version of the same game.

I agree 100 % This is not how I play, but only to answer the questions posed by ome players.

I was bitten by the Hardcore bug in 2012 - then called the IronMan bug - I played a couple normal toons when Classic launched., then went back to “Ironing it”.

May defeat purpose but helps decluttering the HC realms … I transfer a few: max levels, lucky or funny drop-holders, but I do not play them any more. You could call it a trophy room
