Hekili with over 27 million DLs shows how bad this game is

These types of addons are very useful to practice rotation on target dummies, nothing else. Most of the other time it’s useless.

Hekili did nothing wrong. Leave Hekili alone.

Next you’ll be saying most are gear-carried.

It depends how you use it. When I’m getting used to a class I’ll use it to help emphasise how often I should be casting certain moves.

Sometimes it tells me that a move I’ve held onto for ages should be used on cool down everytime.

I adjust and become comfortable and once I’m comfortable I only use it when I get lost in a rotation when I need to panic res, or something fails in the raid and I need to find the cycle again.

As they keep changing how classes play, what talents and moves you should have in certain situations it actually helps me with getting into the flow.

That said, I agree if you have an add on that does this then it might just be a matter of stabilising the classes and not having constant prove, moves that chain other moves and an ideal rotation but also I’m fine with that addon it people enjoy getting deep into the meta

this is so true!

if summoning people with a warlock port is any indication, people are even to stupid to click one button. How many times you have no second person in the group to click it or the click it and move to cancel it - quite hilarious actually.
it is by this no surprise that people need help with ANYTHING.

Alright, I get it, THD said legion was good because he just had to press 1 spell 80% of the time!

Wait there is addon that will help you doing your rotation?

It gives visual suggestions based on the number of enemies (nearby or recently damaged) and the spell priority.

If you want to gimp yourself yes. Its widely regarded a crutch best thrown away after a week.

“Doing your rotation”, no.

It will show you some spells and keybinds to them, if you don’t know your rotation at all it will increase your DPS if you just blindly follow it rather than just smashing different spells.

If you know your rotation anywhere close to decently, it’s a DPS loss to be using hekili. Like I said earlier, I did 60k less than my maximum when I tried it as shadow and 40k less than what I usually do and I’m not that good at shadow priest, I’ve barely played shadow previously.

i tried it and i think it’s horrible
it doesn’t take into consideration the encounter you are in and the things happening around you
i did use it on my prot pala just to test it and it told me to use my word of glory after judgement because i had shining light proc
Or it didn’t take into consideration that i have 4pc so my priority is always using judgement and avengers shield
maybe it can be changed in settings but i personally would be worse player if i use that addon right now

I feel like there is no need for addon like that because classes are not that complex as they look
there are few mechanics you need to understand but 20 minutes with someone that plays that class will make you better player instead of addon

Maybe it will boost your DPS when you stand in city and fight dummies

If you have reached the stage where you are not satisfied with it, you have outgrown it, just like one outgrows the training wheels on the bicycle.

Training wheels make it easier not to fall off the bicycle but when you can actually cycle properly, they just restrict your freedom of movement.

Be proud of your mastery of your spec.

There is no way you can top dps without addons.

What addons do you need for dps?
With hekili you are not going to top dps.

As a bare minimum you need something that helps you tell how much dps you do, everything begins there.

Then an addon that helps you be ready for the mechanics so that you will spend less time making mistakes and not dpsing

Finally as a cherry on top an addon or weak aura that helps you have a better access to knowledge of your resources and cooldowns so that you do not have to look away towards the action bars as much.

If you are a DoT class, you may also need some addon that helps tracking the dots on the enemies by putting icons on their floating healthbars

Well, i agree you need to install an addon to be able to see the dps meter in the first place

But what you talk about is min maxing. You are not going up by 50% by installing dbm.

You resources are actually very well shown now by the new UI options.

I never disagreed there are addons (WA’s mostly) to make the most out of your spec. Mostly the “hard to master” part. But people make it a requirement for +2 in this topic and that it is pushing a new player away since they can not do +2 endgame content without. I am very much disagreeing with those oppinions.

People go with their statements completely binary. The response that you can not “top the dps meter” is way out of context.

As always people move the goalposts about what is acceptable performance and then complain about where the new players, the tanks and the healers have gone.

Even high level keystones have a much larger margin of error than most people are willing to admit, which is why boosting 1 person doing next to nothing to +20 every dungeon is even possible.

Why?

Wow’s base UI is terrible at providing / allowing players to reposition relevant information, but it doesn’t push buttons for you or make you do more damage to have addons.

I was watching a top warlock on WOTLK and it hit me that we really loved the design of classes in WOTLK (and the raids) but rotation were immensely easier in WOTLk.

Having complexe rotation does not equal great, fun or engaging gameplay.

I think blizzard need to rain in on the number of abilities and simplify some spec rotations.
