argh, I’m dreadful at pvp. Haven’t done any probably since MOP when I had to for the cloak.
I think the secrecy was more about avoid criticism than hype at this stage.
if we knew a PVP event was coming there would be much grumbling.
How much I participate in this will depend on the rewards. If I have to win at PVP to get anything then I’m done, might not even do a single one of these (I’ve never entered the Mage Tower, not even once to see what it looked like).
If I have to come in the top half of players then maybe I’ll try it on my rogue and just stealth until half the others are out.
If coming last gets you a little currency then maybe I’ll just run in and die first and do this 100 times.
Battle royale isn’t something new.
Repurposing battle royale to WoW doesn’t make it exciting. Battle royale SUCKS. Like, it’s absolute garbage level of gaming.
I’m annoyed at how much this is annoying me.
If this was a side event like time walking or something then fair enough.
But it’s a patch.
That’s entirely PvP
There’s nothing else to the patch other than this.
Was keeping it a secret badly judged?
Or did they know folk would be raging about it and try to stem the negative comments until the last minute?
Did they hire the Royals PR firm?
I think it was indeed made to aim at the younger audience as they know the streamers will be playing it.
I bet you anything, that once the event ends and they see how many people were actively playing it, it will turn into a free client and will be the new battle royale by Blizzard.
This is rather disappointing. I mean, I’m glad for my PVP friends, but the secrecy was not needed for this.
Here I was hoping for a last-minute playable Jinyu or Sethrak surprise, or even those cool Druid of the Flame skin customizations for Night Elves that were teased this last patch…
Nothing for me this month.
They knew they would be roasted the whole time if they posted it earlier. So they waited for 24 hours prior to it being launched.

I like PvP.
This is battle royale, I hate battle royale.
I want objectives, capture the flag, capture the points, assault the base and so on in pvp.
Not some battle royale BS. Die and you’re out and back in queue for another game where you’ll likely die and then you’re out again, wow very fun.
And oh, I want to play my own character.

I agree, battle royale is no longer something that peaks my interest, that died off half way through pubg. Never touch Fortnite as I’d end up losing braincells due to the amount of “silly” people who were playing that game at the time.
As normal Blizzard arrives very late to another genre to add their spin to it.
Arriving soon, the Blizzard Battle Royale Battle Pass! If you have a subscription to WoW, you unlock the Advanced Level, but if you pay an extra £20, you unlocked the Epic Level, where you get 10 free levels inside the battle pass, but also you receive a standard quality pet and mount, which is just a reskin of an existing pet/mount in World of Warcraft!
You can’t even use your own abilities, you get an action bar with weird items. It sounds horribly clunky, why would anyone enjoy this?
Power to anyone who does but a whole patch wasted on this idea instead of a side thing? Good grief.
I think it’s safe to say Blizzard feel that anyone who is still subbed is never going to unsub and they feel they can just put out absolute garbage.
I know, but I knew I would never manage it so I never went there.
If I have to actually win or do in any way well at this then I’ll just not even enter it.
I’m bad at the game, I know my limits. I don’t mind that there is challenging content, as long as it is as optional as they can make it. Mage Tower is fine, I can ignore it, I’ll never have those mogs (probably would never use them anyhow). The book mount might have been nice to have but meh.
It’s not about defending Blizzard, it’s just the truth.
They try something new along with the new season and people already bashing on the idea before trying it out.
This is the exact reason why MMOs don’t try anything new these days, if you want the same old boring routine content, you should see FF14 which hasn’t changed the formula since HW and people are sick of it.
