Homophobia in rp needs to cease

And truly, who can blame him?

I think it’s fine if someone is homophobic ic as long as they don’t claim their whole society thinks so. But then again I’m against people forbidding certain flaws in rp chars just because someone might be offended behind the screen. Actualy I find that pretty destructive toward RP as a whole. Wow is not a personal safe space. If someone can’t deal with certain things in RP they are free to leave whether it’s gore, torture, erp or homophobia.
I know some people will post rules of conduct here but i doubt it applies to RP. Or do you report chars that are calling each other names or threaten each other in RP?

Where I absolutly draw the line is any ooc homophobia and with the more inclusive writing in recent times there where actualy quite a few posts that I reported instead of writing an answer. And that is something I would advice to everyone here. Don’t diginfy homophobes with an answer. Report and ignore them! Don’t give them room to rage.

Factually incorrect.
Homophobia came first and the strong reaction you get from LGBT people these days is a result of that, not the other way around.

No idea but lets find out how he blames the PCU for it in his next article.

i get the principle and i support it to some level, but the Terms of Service are pretty direct about it not being allowed, you know?

Of course it also applies to RP.
But insults and threats to an avatar of pixels and to a player are different things, and I’m glad blizz realizes this because if they didn’t the RP community would be in dire straits indeed.

Except its against ToS as many have said already.

If those flaws are concepts that dont really exist in the settling they are rping, others have indeed the right to call them out on it, and if they go “bruh, my rp, scram.” then they will be ignored.

Being stubborn with concepts that are headcannon and dont exist in lore is, even more destructive (for the person doing them at least).

All these are against the ToS and the people doing it should be banned.

It does.

Yes, but so is a homophobic attitude/slurs/whatever. I fail to see the diffrence here.

Because some people on the interent claim that your opinion on homophobia is invalid if you didn’t expierience it in real life. Since I don’t know the people here very well (i mainly lurk at AD since I’m not fluent enough in english for RP and stick to our german RP realm)I just thought I’d mention it before. :man_shrugging:

Have fun in a setting full of holding hands, rainbows and cotton candy  It would be to boring for me.

LOL, so for conflict, you have to breach the ToS? Dude, you know nothing of rp so best stop making a fool of yourself here.

You can very well display conflict without the above.

Alright, so you would also say that dropping the N-slur IC is okay? It’s the same rhetoric.

fair does

Homophobia isn’t the only form of conflict in existence lol

going to do my little centrist dance here and say that its not entirely true.

For example emoting a glare towards a couple is actually not against the ToS

But blatent slur throwing absolutely is.

This is a very weird response to that homophobia is strictly against the ToS.

Why is this though? I never understood, or will understand why it’s considered bad to be considerate of other people’s emotions and feelings, especially when it’s a collective thing, both WoW and roleplaying.

It just sounds incredibly douchy to me to specifically go out of your way to proclaim how little you care about other people.

I know, not Exactly what I meant there.

yeah but it’s still extremely cringe if it’s because they’re both dudes/ladies + doesn’t stop the ToS applying to RP.

I still like the idea that if we take away Homophobia from RP the world instantly becomes :rainbow: :candy:

That it is.

It’s so utterly bizarre that when people just bring up that “Okay so homophobia isnt actually allowed in the ToS”, a fairly common response then is: “OKAY SO WE CANT RP AT ALL ANYMORE, ITS OVER!!”

Like if it was the thing holding it all together.

Contrarians and outsiders will always think that way.

“I can be someone who hates another race for something said race has done to mine!”

“I can be an uncaring bastard who murders everybody in the way of my profit!”

“I can be a crazy cultists that just wants to destroy everything for whichever reason!”

Some people’s choice:

“Better be a homophobe to get that conflict.”

Or torture… Or gore… Those are the only thing that makes suitable conflict!
