Player base is to blame. So many people rolling Horde and mindlessly zerging around killing every Alliance player on sight, regardless of level, isn’t really Blizzard’s fault.
People do not care about anything but min maxing, so therefore, they rolled Horde, regardless of having played Alliance, originally.
Blizzard’s fault lies with not creating enough servers and not putting a cap on total population. They should also have created faction queues as soon as the ratio became anywhere near 60/40.
But ultimately, it’s the players who pick the faction and actions in game. Thus, the Horde ruined Flamelash, Shazzrah and probably more servers in the future.

Maybe if blizzard released official server statistics people could make a more educated decision on what faction and realm to play.

What are the chances they’ll allow faction transfers? idk how many people will be willing to reroll?
If official numbers and faction changes were implemented (if only temporarily), how many would actually leave the “winning side”?
We see loads of forum posters on the Horde side claiming to be willing to roll Alliance should faction change become available. But I doubt many would go through with it.
That would just make everything worse.
Everyone would just gravitate to their own mega servers that would slowly stagnate and die.

i dont see why it has to be temporary, they could permanently allow faction transfers within a realm (with a cooldown) and eventually it will balance out at somewhere that both factions are happy with (not necessarily 50:50)
I’m afraid that it would cause more harm than good. As in, more Alliance players going Horde just to be safe in numbers. Because the Horde players on the forums represent a tiny fraction of the overall faction, so the vast, vast majority would remain Horde and nothing would change.
What is so bad about alot of allys and alot of Hordes moved to ES. Wont it just balance out anyway. The ratio is still 50/50 ish no?
Horde wouldn’t leave because why give up a good thing? Transfers have been available for a long time, no horde left. And there’s like one PVP server that’s majority alliance, if horde transferred there it soon wouldn’t be. PVP servers seem to be 60/40 H/A on average, some worse than others, you can’t merge them to achieve balance. While 60/40 might not seem too bad, on a big server that’s quite alot more players on the dominant side.
In the end people would just have quit if it weren’t for the transfers. Now at the very least the ones that did transfer have an honest shot at enjoying the game, and Blizzard gets atleast another couple of months of sub cash.
Earthshaker already had a significantly higher population than vanilla servers that got locked for new character creation 14-15 years ago. Within 24 hours the amount of active alliance players increased by about 50% (based on number of auctions, pvp standings and number of guilds who transfered). If the rumours are true the horde also saw a significant population increase. That has a huge impact on both the server economy and the community. If you think that’s a good thing you may aswell start advocating for server merges.
Keep in mind that this is a server people deliberately transfered to to escape mega servers like Gehennas. If we wanted a high population server we would have stayed where we were three months ago.

To be fair, there’s really not much they could have done.
The only way they could have prevented faction imbalance would have been to restrict what faction people could choose (like lock a faction when it reached 10% difference or something), and as smart as that would have been, people would definitely whined about that too.
And right now, because people (somewhat understandably) panic and run as soon as they get an opportunity (and then are stupid enough to announce it to everyone, no less), there’s really not much they can do to fix it. PvP realms are either fairly balanced or horde dominated, so merging is not an option. Any alliance only transfers are just gonna make imbalance worse, and there’s no PvP realms for only horde to transfer to without either messing up balance or making it even worse.
You actually think horde players would ever give up their advantage in numbers willingly? The transfers were open för quite a bit and no hordes ever left until alliance did.

And where exactly do you suggest they go…? What difference would it make for them to transfer to another PvP realm if all PvP realms are horde dominated? They should just transfer for the sake of it and make things worse on another realm?
Bloodfang has more alliance players than horde so… There?
You can run. . . muhahahahaha.

No, Bloodfang fluctuates around fairly balanced, with minor faction advantages based on the most recent transfers. And even if it was ally dominated, what about every other realm? Or should every horde just move there?
Ally that stayed on flamelash will enjoy free rank14. Well done.
Mmmm. Seems like a few of us needs to transfer to Bloodfang. kek

The client notifies you that free character migrations are available if you’re stuck in a login queue.
How about spreading out instead of all going to the same? But sure, all going to the same server and creating flamelash 2.0 is probably the best idea.
