How do people enjoy the slow, boring levelling grind?>

I think it’s hard to explain tbh. I just enjoy the slow pace of it all. It’s about the journey for me, not just about the end game. To each their own I guess, it’s not gonna be fun to everyone.

Because without work there is no feeling of accomplishment. If you prefer instant gratification without any effort thats cool though. People enjoy different things.

For me personally the journey I am going through is what I enjoy most.
It is painfully slow sometimes (I mean it’s frustrating when you get one quest item after killing 50 beasts), but in the other hand it allows me to really go into the world and feel like my character really belongs there.
But that is me. My friends doesn’t like the classic because of this and how “hardcore” it is… and surely there are lot of ppl who thinks the same.

How to enjoy the leveling? Kick back, pour yourself a glass of wine (or make a cup of coffee depending on the time), play your favorite music, relax and just play the game in a chill way, taking in the sights, stopping to gather materials and chatting in general :sunglasses:

These are the things I absolutelly love about Classic. Everything is connected. You keep returning to low lvl areas to advance in the quest. Killing is slow so you usually end up in the group to make it faster. And you create new friends. Long runs are awesome. People actually now where these dungeons are. In BFA most people don´t even know…

and classic wont ? people go in MC in quest greens at 57-58 level -_- ignoring any sort of preparation for raiding .

such a difference

To me leveling is actually part of the game. In retail, it’s more of a long useless tutorial. Take your time and don’t feel like you have to rush to get to 60.

Yeah people who have done this again and again and again for what seems to be their entire life

I dunno about all these hardcore players but today I will probably reach 31, and that will be a nice rewarding time for me.

The keyword here is “immersion”. It is exactly this slow-paced leveling and the feeling of progress that immerse you into the game, which is what defines the RPG genre. Without immersion, you’re not really playing the game, you’re not investing yourself into it, and there really is no point in playing at all - you’re just wasting your time.

My girlfriend, who is younger than me, dislikes this slow pace and prefers other games where you start a match and finish it in 20 minutes or less. As soon as she touched BfA, however, she said “I don’t see how it’s fun sitting in one place and just queuing for stuff” as well as “why is no one stopping and why is no one talking?”.

The answer to all of these is the same: “that’s just how modern WoW is”. Modern WoW is very far from an MMORPG. It’s more like a MOBA but you have a character that you can look at while running around the current expansion’s shared capital.

And so she is playing Classic with me now. She still dislikes all the walking and how much time it takes to gain a single level beyond 20, but when we’re playing together these things don’t matter. We use travel time to either explore the world (she often wanders off somewhere and I follow her) or to talk IRL stuff.

Good luck doing MC in quests greens at level 57 with your average raiding group lol. They will probably wipe at the first core hound

Levelling is slow yes. But the gameplay beats flying around doing emissaries. At least for now and at least for me.

Yeah I do, it feels meaningful compared to checking out stuff off the list

Welcome to Classic Kid, this was how it was back in Vanilla. It’s what people wanted, right?

The difference to me is like watching people do it and just “get it done” for a quick fix, or taking your time when you really like that person. The american censosrship doesn’t allow even hints but you probably get it…

To be honest it does not. This is why many people go grind instead . So ok, i semi afk kill same mob over and over for 7 levels (which i do today), it feels not very rewarding, but it is least giving me levels that running around does not.

Absolutely on the contrary doing a quest one hour and get item you cannot even use and minuscle exp feels like nothing as rearding and my talents do not do much either, on 5/5 - good for me I miss the murlock a bit less.

I’m having an absolute blast playing the old WoW again, I love how it’s slow and how it’s a little tedious and grindy at times, and running here and there and everywhere to get your quest done listening to the music marvelling at everything. Just so enjoyable to do a couple of quest when I have the time, taking it slow. So glad we have got it back!

well my objective is not to level asap but to have as much fun getting there by accomodating quests from multiple zones of the same level if I have to.
There is already enough forced grind due to the low quest item drop rates for me to avoid doing grind of the sake of grind

This guy gets it.
Classic isn’t all about max level. It’s about all the world at any level. Everywhere you choose to go you can enjoy the game, make friends and feel like every action actually improves your character.
