I’ve been playing PVP with Horde since classic released. I wanted to relive my original vanilla experience, so I created a Spriest on Alliance. Levelled all the way to 60 just to find it’s almost impossible to get rank 14. Wait times range from 10 to 20 minutes. Unless I quit my job and take this on full time, it’s gonna be hard. I re-log to my Horde and I get instant AVs. It’s a shame it can’t be resolved. I guess I’ll get to rank 10 and call it a day. For The Horde anyways!

Odd, it could be the realm you are on. Usually there are more Horde on PvP realms than Alliance, since you can’t have horde and alliance on the same realm in Era, the section you posted in.
If you mean on Wrath, oops Cataclysm, (as you posted on an 80) then most PvP realms are so very one sided.

I play old-school Classic Era - Firemaw. I guess this is an era issue. Anyway, was nice to level with Alliance and see Stormwind again after almost 20 years. The Stormwind music hit me hard.
BGs are all EU one battlegroup, so must be something else.
Yes, that’s what I thought. It’s frustrating that the wait times are so high with Alliance. There’s an imbalance with the queuing. I guess there’s more Horde PVPing than Alliance.
I would guess so too - same as PvP servers always Horde heavy.

If that was the case then the Horde queues would be longer so it must be that the alliance are PvPing more, who would have thought it?

Not exactly true, you can do server transfers and thus getting Horde and Ally on same realm. Blizzard removed that restriction in Era at the 3rd attempt of SOM transfers. You still cannot create chars of other faction unless you server transfer one char first.
It took me 8 weeks to get R14 on alliance firemaw-eu so it is possible but will take time and patience.
Queues are usually 10-20 minutes. Few times I had 40 minutes to 1 hour queue.
Alliance have bigger population of players that’s why you wait in queue. Usually there is 1 or 2 alteracs happening, during AV event 3 to 4. You need to wait in line till one of alteracs are over in order to get to next AV. If average AV takes 15 minutes, you wait 15 minutes till its over to get next one queue pop up for you. If there is AV turtle well you wait 40 minutes till its over or perhaps someone leaves and you can come in as replacement for 1h 23 minutes already ongoing AV.

I’m also on the Firemaw Cluster (but it doesn’t really matter, they are all linked together for Battlegrounds PVE+PVP) and it’s really strange, up to 22 or 30 minutes for a BG Pop and it was AV Weekend now… Ally side btw.

Thanks for this, you’ve given me hope. The grind is much harder playing Ally. I got used to instant AV pops and I need to come to terms with the long queues with Alliance.
I ranked last time in September 2023 and find it quite easy because of instant queue as Alliance.
I took a break from WoW and doing it again on a different toon now and now queues take much longer.
Getting the 500k/418k was much easier last year, now I am not sure if I can cap within a week.
Not in classic era. Even on firemaw cluster alliance is dominant
Did a few AV’s last night and the queue times as a horde player are <5 min, and keep in mind this was in the middle of the week and we still had 2 AV’s up at all times.
Downside is that we lost every single one and it wasn’t even close.
At least it is fast

Actually yes. All Era Ally dominated. Is quite fun how this got here. I wonder is so in-game too, or only raiders/PvPers? We never know.

Not related to this topic but since you are rank 14 i wanted to ask you about this, because i have done some reading in a few posts around Reddit (and yes Reddit can be a weird place) and also in some forum posts.
Is it true that in PvP the Horde is much stronger than the Alliance? I mean there’s the question about racials and their impact on that environment and apparently Horde racials are better for PvP but also there is this notion that the red team is more united than the Alliance? That they are more tactical and invested in team effort?
Maybe at the end of the day it all comes down to each one’s experience and that Alliance can also cause havoc and destruction on the Horde.
Rank14 was originally meant to be for a really small handful of people in order to distinguish who will commit these hours, you do not have to agree that was how it was.
Then they made it a lot easier, removing honor decay, the current one is considered very easy.
It is not for everyone, as I said you do not have to be R14.
A lot easier!? They killed pvp completely.
