Just feel like the lockdowns are counter-productive. The point of them is to force to even out the realms and not have a single big one, but many (dare to say most, but I don’t have any numbers so let’s just stick with many) people want to play on X because their friends, that already invested much time on their chars, are on that server. I don’t force my friends to abondon their guild/realm transfer or start from scratch just for me, so the simple solution for me is to just not play classic until the realm is unlocked. And that is the counter-productive thing I was talking about. Many will probably be like me and instead of evening out the realm population, they will just stop playing until they are allowed to play with their friends. Which in turn means, the realms will never even out and we’re kinda stuck in this situation.

well i know 1 month subscription from 1 player its nothing for blizzard but i cancelled my subscription 3 weeks ago and im not playing the game anymore until i can transfer my char to the server my friends play and i think this will be after AQ release

at the time of locking Golemagg there was queues 3 nights in a week, max 40 min each time. I said it on this forum 18.04.2020. So yes, its up to Blizzard to open realms, and not players, because they locked a layered realms, where it was not needed. They did survey before that, but only on US forums, where they had few hours long queues. This was not case for Golemagg and they locked it anyway.
All low level zones are barren. There’s no on leveling just raidloggers left.

opening servers before AQ gate opening wouldnt be the smartest so just wait that out and hope for mid august unlock
I convinced my friend after 14 years to finally give wow a try, he bought gametime and made a character and the server was locked…
C’mon unlock servers atleast for new accounts,
re-rolling is not a option as i invested 3/4 year into raiding and building my character and working on getting a fine non toxic guild,

faced the same issue 4 times so far since the servers where locked. 4 different cases of friends that i convinced to give the game a shot and all they wanted was to be able to play together or in my guild. None of them started because it feels really weird to play a paid mmo and being restricted to experience the game with your close ones.

Look, we all get your point, friends want to play together etc, it is fine, you invested in your characters, fine.
Problem is you just wont hear the other side of story - server is full. No room for other players.
If the cinema seats are sold out, you cant buy a ticket anymore and enter.
If Paris- Sidney flight at 6pm is sold out, you can not board.
I really dont get why it is so hard the grasp there no room on servers for additional players.
You act like Blizzard is on some crusade against players and dont want to earn more money from new players.
Blizzard stated multiple times that they understand that friends want to play with friends and that makes money for them. They just cant let more players in, whole server would be suffering if they do (lag, queue times, new bots, layers etc)
People above presented you with an options. Yes, options arent win-win scenario, but you and friends still have options, which is a good thing.
What makes people like you talk if you don’t actually understand the situation? None of what you are saying is true. People, including me, playing on high pop server that is locked wants it UNLOCKED because it’s incredibly dead 20 hours per day. Please just stay out of things if you’re not experiencing it yourself and actually don’t have a valid take.

And what else would be happening when it’s unlocked? I play on one and aside of raiding, some Silithus farming there isn’t much activity. Traffic in leveling zones is low to very low. Wanted to attune my mage for BWL as I didn’t played him for a long while - and ZERO UBRS runs. Will have to get a guild run organized tomorrow because there is zero traffic.
mate. gimme a break. what do u mean servers are full? Gehennas for example is empty on dungeon content. has only a few groups in pick times. on down times there is not even a mage in kargath. also there are no levelers in the world. the only leveling population is alts of gehennas players that getting boosted.

This is the reason why they will not open locked servers, as soon as they are open, ppl will flock to them because of friends, so it will not happen, they won’t risk getting 5k ques again.
So if you want to play with friends they either start with you on new realm or they need to transfer with their guild
