How much do you care about the lore, story and characters?

Last rime i cared was during wotlk. Honestly from vanilla till wotlk the game had banging story and it peaked at wotlk. It was crazy good and i couldn’t get enough. Past that , cataclysm was fine but then it went downhill. Like serious big dive in quality.

Last 3 expansions have been at the level of bad reddit fan fiction

A moderate amount for me, maybe 5/10. I like the setting of the game, the characters are okay - I like them. I’m fine with whatever story the game has. Can’t say however that I’m super invested in either of it though, just fine with it all, come what may. Probably used to care more in the more distant past, but that’s because I was playing the game more hardcore, whereas now I only do it casually while I am having fun then quitting until next patch or expansion.

Before Shadowlands at least a 8/10.
But since Shadowlands 1-2/10. I don’t care anymore because i don’t expect anything good coming from the writers/team.

Which is sad, years back i spend hours reading more about characters i found ingame because old WoW lore was so interesting.

Yeah the damage they done to the lore in Shadowlands appears to be irreversible, unless they are willing to retcon it which will take massive effort and some very skilled writers to bring the game back with good writing. It seems so far that this isn’t the case. But i must say i like xalatath and i love her feet

thank you have no feelings

i was crying when they turned my arthas into the dust with garrosh

Nah BFA was much worse. Shadowlands can be easily ignored.

I am finding this a little fascinating right now and especially considering how much DF was disliked for it’s touchy feely “girl boss” vibes.

Been following a sleuth of news articles that are showing just how this is being rejected across the gaming and film industry. Most of these are nearly always followed up by stories of how non AAA games are becoming far more successful as most of these do not have any of these concepts or elements put into them. Often ending with a final note to say that it does not matter how much money you throw at the movie or the game as long as the story you present is appealing to your audience they will support it.

Yet the TWW has nearly none of those elements except they still have the “girl boss”. I suspect the real reason for this is that they are forced to go this route or face some government tax penalties or something along those lines for not complying to diversity.

If it weren’t for the God awful combat in FFXIV, I would have been playing that game instead. Not sure about the overall quality of the story but it seems a lot more engaging than the one in WoW.

In WoW you’re being given walls of text for the most part and the only times I find myself reading a quest is when I’m doing something wrong (no quest progression).

girl bosses? Are you afraid of having female characters in your stories? Weak minded.

Before giving a personal attack answer read the comment again. I would give a like but I have absolutely no likes to give you.

Ignore him, he is just a troll.

No I just stopped caring. Makes life much easier and opens the door to enjoy the game when you just ignore the parts that ruined it.

You have always been a troll though. And you are a troll because you change your opinion every 3 mins and you need to be a perpetual victim.

Indeed. I enjoy things far more if I stop nitpicking and looking for plotholes etc, just enjoy it for what it is.

He probably means the negative narrow minded “girlbosses” of today.
You can have good strong female characters like samus, lara croft, or if you are into movies, ripley from aliens. Those are good strong female characters.

Captain marvel is a good example of girlboss done wrong. A man with that personality would be insufferable. Logic dictates that a girl is too.

Well written female characters are welcome. Quota filling girlbosses are not.

That’s what I think they meant anyway. If so, I agree.

Perhaps I should have added that to the comment, but yes, generally these articles and streams are mainly talking about the forced which comes across as disingenuous.

i stopped caring after shadowlands when arthas became sylvanas’s makeup

Watching Arthas poofed from existence was the peak of shadowlands. Quel’thalas was finally avenged.

Lowering your standards will make things more enjoyable, yes.

we are paying hard earned money.

Do NOT lower your standards. Thats what they want. So they work less and earn more.
