if blizz ever did classic wod i think it safe to say wow would be over! wow+tbc+wrath will get a classic version, after that cata/mop would require a large conversation, wod onwards are to modern and still playable
Personally, I will only continue paying my sub if I can continue playing Nicolay into TBC. If there is no TBC, or there is no way to port Nicolay into it, I will discontinue my sub after I clear Naxx and will look at Classic as a pleasant memory.
If they will make us unable to copy the character into the tbc/new classic realms then I most likely won’t be playing that. It heavily depends on friends and guild at that point.
I’m on a balanced realm so it’s not really my problem, but I do sympathize with anyone playing on a horde heavy realm and I think Blizzard need to adress the issue in some way. I don’t know which way, but the imbalance needs to be adressed. It wasn’t like this at all in Classic and then you have to compensate for it somehow.
I’m just not sure if it’s good doing the crazy stuff like giving all humans EMFH, buffs to alliance like I heard some pservers doing or some kind of controlled transfer to a 1:1 realm.
Vanilla private servers didn’t really had faction balance problems. TBC servers however had severe Horde domination, often to a point of nearly mono-faction. And in this expansion you are always in few zones doing stuff that is fragile to faction imbalance.
What pservers did to balance the factions is to give both faction paladins both seals (Horde have a “better” one + OP belfs) as well as give some other benefit to Alliance - often of convenience nature like increased rep/exp rates and/or free respec cost.
…and on Classic discords and forums some Alliance players already level or think of leveling Horde alts for TBC (or rolling PvE realm) so the faction problem awareness is pretty high for it.
I’m really curious to see what will happen about faction balance too.
My gut says that they will do nothing, they don’t want to make things fair and well balanced, they just want to hold some population active in hope to hook more ppl into the main game.
My head though tells me that the issue might be so big (especially on PvP realms) that they either do something or face a huge shizzlestorm that might also cost some retail subs and/or shop boycotting.
I levelled on a PvP realm and what I did is get to 60 then go to Zangarmarsh. Hellfire Peninsula was a complete gankfest, not only other people at the same level but 70s too.
Same here, if they does that it ruins my security of get to keep my characters in the expansion i am wanting to play and therefore i will cancel my subcription and will only time to time hear from internet how tbc evolves in to wotlk then cata and all that kind of crap and smile happily i was smart enough to jump out from it as the history repeated itself and blizzard just gave us another retail.
I see Alliance comments pointing to Horde alts for TBC or rolling PvE. On reddit or even realm discord. With no balancing Horde will have better racials, better palas and more players, more guilds.
Then can we just call it permanent sharding? They marketed layers as solution for heavy population drop that never happened. If people need to play on 6K+ realms then shard it like retail and be done with it.
