Which is the better, Hunter or Warlock in PvE?
And why do you think that one is the better one?
(My advice to people is to play the Class you like more, so that is not the reason I’m asking this, the reason is because these are the only two pet Classes in the game and both are awesome!)
Hunter is better than Warlock in early phase. Why ? Because they do lot of damage baseline and don’t have glancing blow, but they scale poorly.
Warlock is better for middle / later phase. Why ? Because they scale more and early they lack hit rating.
Since we are soon in BWL, go for Warlock.
Damage wise they are similar but I have far more fun with a Warlock especially solo.
Warlock is always wanted out of the all dps classes. And it seems like there are not many of them around as many guilds especially on my server are searching for Warlocks.
bad thing is though you have to roll against all the wannabe vurtne mages which you will have 10x of each in your raid.

It is also more entertaining than lock. Easy to gear up aside from ring slot…not sure if bwl will be enough for lock to surpass hunter either. Who knows. For hunters we get full dragon tier I think increasing hunter raid damage. Not for 1 hunter but all hunters also we get a new weapon and possibly a couple more items.
As alliance . Hunter also gets kings for more scaling and might for pet unlike horde hunter which doesn’t get anything …And I’m rarely beaten by a warlock even as horde meaning should be even easier as alliance.
Only plus side right now for a warlock is that they might be more wanted in raids
I was leveling a Warlock to 60 first. Then I decided to create a hunter twink and for some reason never touched my warlock again.
If you prefer a real pet-class then stick to hunter. Warlock pets just exist to be sacrificed or to provide some buffs/utility, not really meant for tanking or dps’ing.
Feign Death is also the best skill in WoW.
If dps is a factor for you, play hunter. Dungeons can sometimes be painful though depending on tanks knowing (or not knowing) about hunter’s handicaps.
Keep this in mind.
Hunter is more versatile and fun.
I’m glad you mentioned tanks being poor tanks. People judge to fast the blame on hunter when alot of the time it’s a tank issue. They are just simply not used to play with a hunter in group and so they mess up easily.
Also yeah hunter is the only proper pet class.
So it requires abit more from you to keep that pet alive and give it instructions
If you get a really good tank, hunters can even compete with mages in aoe dps.

Yes I know . This is mostly while leveling but yes it’s true.
Begin with Multishot in close range, then Feign Death + Explosive Trap (most tanks lose their aggro instantly again after Trap detonates so you are screwed), then volley followed by another multishot.

Anyway, up til a day before launch I was torn between the two. I am slightly more fond of hunter it turns out:p
Bring a mage and you don’t have to worry much about aggro . Slow plus frost nova. A hunters best aoe DPS best friend

PvE always Lock over Hunter since Hunters were hated in vanilla and in 12 patches nobody even give them buff , like for example let’s take T1 legs and T2 legs , if you upgrade from T1 to T2 you actually lose 1 agility lol
lol I don’t even want to imagine a guild/server where Hunters are hated so much they don’t even get buffs.
Never heard of this anywhere else by the way so it must be your experience only or some rare weird guild/server.
They don’t get buffs because all buffs are MELEE attack power so they don’t work for them , all they can use is squid , mongoose and kings buff.
Also by buffs I mean In game Buffs to gear from patch 1 to patch 12 through Vanilla they got no buffs not about server or something , hunters were buffed in TBC started doing damage.
