Hunters need entire Rune Rework, not just buffs

Well but you still bring kings and top 3 dps. What does A rogue bring ? Id rather take A diff spec that brings something to the grp as dps then not bringing anything.

And with kings there is atleast 1 spot every time. Atleast Thats my take on it. Hope ranged gets some love. But as we all know they will make ranged op and then ur getting nerfed again.

Man I totally disagree with this sentiment completely. Just because melee hunters are doing alright shouldnā€™t mean ranged is left to rot.

Same argument for rogues. The ā€œfixā€ of mutilate to 40 energy for an entire phase to ā€œbalanceā€ rogues is a horse turd argument.

People are completely allowed to be offer their views on how they believe changes made to a class could balance it much better.

A broken spec that is not what we want to play. Because big news , people who want to play melee have war , pal and rogue. Sham in the horde. Not hunter.

Just imagine , I suppose you like melee DPS , thatā€™s why you chose rogue. Ok now they give you the best tanking in the world. God tier. Would you appreciate when you complain about how your DPS is not enjoyable that everybody just tell you ā€œdeal with it , at least you tank spec is OPā€

You would say ā€œIt is not the point and I donā€™t care about tankingā€ , which is a valid opinion. So now use your brain and realize that we donā€™t care that melee is OP Because all we want in hunter is , depending on which person , a big pet (BM) or shooting a big gun/bow (MM)

Rogues got 2 shadow steps.
Warr can charge in combat, and has Intervene.
Druid have 41 yard on starsurge (good luck kite with Aspect of chetaah)
Priest have DISPERSION.
AND HUNTER YET DOES NOT HAVE DISENGAGE, WHILE THEIR DMG SUCKS.
RANGED HUNTER IS IDENTITY OF THE HUNTER, NOT MELEE, NERF BEAST MASTERY ITā€™S FOR NOOBS, FIX MARSKMAN ASAP.

I thought of another rune that could be interesting for any spec:

Consume Command
Your pet consumes a slain foe with edible flesh and gain 10% of its max health back along with a buff that last for 10 minutes. Pet will channel the consume ability for 3 seconds. 15sec CD (Mechanical and elemental enemies are exempt from consumption)

  • Beast - The pet triumphs over its lesser in the eco system and gains Apex; Due to its intimidating nature anyone growled by the pet suffers a loss of hit chance against all targets for 5 seconds.

  • Humanoid - The petā€™s new taste of blood is unquenchable and gains Taste For Blood; The pet once sicced on a humanoid target cannot be commanded away from that target but also is in a frenzy to kill and cannot be feared, slept or charmed.

  • Undead - While the pet can stomach the vile remains consumed its mouth is now a haven of disease and gains Toxic Saliva - Any target attacked by the pet gets the Frail debuff and any pet attack on a Frail target has a chance (2%) to knock the target down for 1 second.

  • Demon - Your pet is struggling with internal corruption and gains Corrupted Mind; The pet gains a 20 second debuff that once it hits 0 has a chance to turn hostile for 5 seconds towards anything in its surroundings, the debuff resets at 0 to 20 again and will continue like this for 10 minutes or until the curse has been lifted. Any enemies attacked by the pet (apart from the Hunter and its teammates) will suffer the same curse for 40 seconds with a greater chance of turning sides and becoming friendly with your party and hostile and mind controlled against the other party for 5 seconds. If no other mobs in PVE are aggroā€™d it will suffer a mental break that stuns it instead.

  • Giant - You are what you eat and your pet is now gigantic and gains Colossus; Its physical damage (no lightning breath) is increased by 25% but its attack speed is lowered by 40%, threat is increased by 50%, health and armor are increased by 20%.

  • Dragonkin - Your pet seem lighter on its feet than normal and in the corner of your eye you swear you can make out wings that are not there when you stare at your pet headon, your pet gains Draconic Flow; All pet attacks are enhanced by 10% extra fire damage and it gains 20% movement speed. Any non-physical offensive abilities are instead enhanced by 20%

Thereā€™s no way this is ever gonna happen but it was just a fun idea I thought of that is probably hella overpowered in some way.

Another week without ANY change for hunter runes.

bLizzard? Just give us what we need ffs. We are not even asking for increase in numbersā€¦ Just change where some runes are placed, make some runes actually usable and move freaking LION to a QOL skill BOOOOOOOOK!

While I agree that Hunters need their runes reworked, we also are in need of better scaling. Ideally theyā€™d get rid of all SP scaling and convert it into AP scaling. That way weā€™d see spells like serpent sting, arcane shot etc do some actual damage.

I think we need at least wotlk style autoshots too. In pvp the current one is a bit outdated, other classes got some really op stuff and yet we have to cast auto shots. It was OK against base vanilla classes but not when others can 1 hit you with instants. Or when a rouge have shadowstap and shadowstrike +between the eyes i think the vanilla hunter autoshot ****s.

Blizz should revert the change that reduced the dmg of pets, we need to make BM range hunters great again!

Ranged BM hunters also need some kind of button to press besides multi-shot. Kill Command should be reworked for this purpose.

Lone wolf is okay as it is. Okay you loose pet utilities but you go more into the marksman sniper stuff. It is not causing too much damage (Ok if you got aimed shot ctit+ multi shot crit + chimera crit you are dead but it is very rare and any class with 3 crits can kill almost anything.

To me it is a decent rune that should share its rune spot with BM rune and melee specialist rune. One for each spec. And everything in between.

I still advocate for a lock and loaded rune based on a proc for an instant aimed shot. Like mages have for the instant pyro.

Should probably change Expose Weakness to that.

Exchange or put it in a new rune, like ankle or head. The code for it would be very simple to implement.

I just thought of more ideas for things.

Letā€™sā€¦ KEEP Lion as a rune.
Yeah, shocking, I know.

But what about Cobra Strikes and Master Marksman? What do we do about them?
Well, Chest is either a solo rune (Lone Wolf) or it is a buffbot rune selection.
However, those two are not buffbot runes. So we need to turn them into that.

Master Marksman

  • It is now an aura ability that gives any party members within 6 yards a 5 second buff that is refreshed every second (so that you have a 5 second grace period if the Hunter moves) that will do this:
  • -15% mana cost to any ability
  • +5% crit chance to any ability
  • +4yards to every ranged ability (stacks with Hawk Eye for a total of 10yards)

You wanted a sniper? Thatā€™s your sniper. And it could definitely compete with Lion.

Cobra Strikes

  • nothing changes

Wait wut?
Nothing changes? How is that a buffbot ability I hear you ask, well weā€™re not changing that ability of course. Weā€™re changing Invigoration!

Invigoration

  • When the pet critically hits with an ability it grants every party member 5% of their maximum mana.

Thatā€™s right, itā€™s a mana battery synergy.
Couple this with Steady Shot doing +10 Focus to the pet with each hit and Explosive Shotā€™s additional crit chance and Sniper Training and you could effectively make mana concerns a thing of the past.

Quite the radical change for Master Marksman but Cobra Strikes remains unchanged, Steady Shot is just given a way to generate focus for the pet, not a huge change really, and Invigoration does what it does now, just to more party members than just the owner of the pet.

Also I already updated this in my OP but after looking over Mage geting +15% crit chance to Burnout and Warlocks getting +10% crit chance to both themselves AND their pets and for these crit chances to affect ALL their critable spells it makes Sniper Training pathetic in contrast.

Why does Hunters have to stand still got 6 seconds only to get 10% crit chance to ONLY their shots?
So yeah, Sniper Training should be changed to 3 seconds and give us +20% crit chance. Too much? Nope. Itā€™s only to our shots. Not our traps or volley or even melee attacks. Our pet doesnā€™t even benefit from it at all in contrast to a warlockā€™s demon. Mageā€™s get 15%. If we have to stand still for 3(6) seconds then ours should be the best crit chance over the rest, simple as.

Or just give us 15% crit chance to all our Shots and no standing still at all and make it contrast Mageā€™s Burnout rune.

Way too soft. Donā€™t give them half good idea. Invigoration need to be ditched or put into use like for exemple giving focus to the pet.

Mm hunter needs to do at least 25 or even 30 % more damages to even compete with the 5th DPS.

We need a lock and load , a non clipping steady shot. An usable marksman on legs. We need to get rid of group buff runes that forces you to lock one rune for other people (same way goes for druids and windfury , we understand you guys).

We need something game changing , not some kind of little adjustment.

Just look at mages runes. Instant pyroblast , +50% Crit damages , which goes well with the +15% crit in exchange for mana. Ans also a ton of good procs , missile, pyro , mental frost.

At level 15 and 6 runes I had more impactful runes than on my hunter with all itā€™s 18 or 19 runes at level 40.

Runes on hunter are pathetic. Really , we need something on par with mages.

Iā€™m just playing around with ideas, seeing what sticks.

For damage I honestly think we just need more agility gear or RAP pieces and for a skill book that either converts all abilities to RAP scaling or if that canā€™t happen (because of the coding or whatever) then just make RAP also give SP by 2:1.

Or just change the damage calculation for arcane shot , explo shot , serpent sting and traps to count AP instead of SP.

Simple and effective. Having attacks that count SP is a flaw that came from blizzard lack of experience at the begining of the game.

I agree, but again, it might not be possible cause theyā€™re hardcoded in some way.

Maybe I have no idea how it is coded. But if they can code it as a rune I donā€™t see why they couldnā€™t do it as a non rune.

A new rune to correct design flaws is a bad idea. This is exactly what happened in P2. Almost every class got very good runes and we got trap launcher (I mean it is very good but it should not be a rune , traps not usable in fights is a design flaw coming from times when blizzard had little experience in it) while mages got instant pyroblast for exemple. And donā€™t even make me talk about shamans).

Still praying for a lock and load rune
