It’s possible that they want to test this feature now, before applying it to tWW. There’s always plenty to fix after the expansion launch, if they can test some systems now, it will only smoothen tWW launch.
It’s definitely not made for those that can solo the dungeon. The tool is made for those that need to go slow and aren’t anywhere close to having a grasp of their role or class.
We are simply not their target audience and tbh. I don’t care.
I am happy for them to have their playground. Some will be happy with their followers, some might see why things happen as they do in LFG and will appreciate that LFG is faster. On the other hand people in LFG don’t have to be angry with those that are slower, as they probably won’t be there.
It’s a win win for everyone.
yeah that might be a good reason, although I think it should be tested in PTR not live But we all know Blizzard so that makes sense to me.
Great for new players aswell, current form of LFD and LFR can be a very awful experience for new folks.
Not just that either…
It will be valuable for those wanting to try tanking or healing but maybe not brave enough to jump into group content.
Also is going to help with the directionally challenged! Many times in dungeons past Ive gotten completely lost and either been kicked or left because I was too slow and couldnt find the rest of the group.
Ive often wished in certain dungeons I could of had a really slow run through to work out where I needed to go!
this feature is as much help - in my humble opinion - to get to know tactics, mechanics etc in a very very relaxed way - (While i did the dungeon I typed to my sadly ill wow friend about the follower dungeon etc to cheer him up and the tank actually waited for me to finish before going on… try that in a normal dungeon ) - as LFR is for solo players and new to wow players to get to know some kind of raiding and mechanics.
Yes, for the raidguilds, m+ enthusiast it is nothing to write home about but trust me, the player base is very diverse and giving now something everyone else can enjoy definitely makes the game even better.
I might check it out once TWW releases to see the dungeons at my own pace. I feel so rushed when I join a group and the tank is already at the end of the dungeon
love your guild name, we kind of might be alike not just because being druids yes I use my lock to post but only because i cant decide which druid i like more atm!
Thanks! Im too old (and too lazy) for being on curve, so I decided to join the filthy casuals BTW Druids rock! The first class I ever played in WOW and still one of my mains.
Tank friend and I did a few of them for quests, we had a blast! And we enjoyed the typical dps shenanigans of butt pulling, standing in crap and what not, felt like a proper newbie experience
Very enjoyable to see the dungeons and bosses, and I learned a lot about monk healing which was awesome! Great feature, much appreciated
I love how it eliminates the human aspect.
It’s a great feature, and i expect it will be even better in TWW, keep in mind that follower dungeons are kind of “Tacked on” right now (End of expansion, we overgear them), but for TWW, Blizz can adjust the dungeons to AI-runs (Or adjust the AI to the dungeons).
I’m hoping that this will also drive Blizz to add more easter eggs and/or secrets to the dungeons (Like the readable books in neo-Uldaman), now they’re not just for speed-running anymore.
I mean, I’m one of those few players that always start a dungeon by a “hello” in the chat, and I’m also ignored 80% of time by the whole group.
Came back from FFXIV a month ago with this habit, didn’t had an answer in my first 3 leveling dungeons, and was starting to think something was wrong with my chat config’ when someone finally decided to talk in it to say to the tank that he was too slow.
I don’t think it’s the follower dungeons that eliminate the 'human aspect".
I talked in a popular wow discord about the fact that I love dungeons, and I love playing with others, but had a hard time because of the community and the gogogo mentality. Someone answered me that if I like dungeons and interact with others, it is better for me to not do dungeons and keep to quests during the leveling, to avoid toxicity.
Again, I don’t think follower dungeons are to blame. It’s just a bandage put on the wound, not the wound itself. And I would add that it doesn’t heal the wound, but relieve some of the pain, so I happily take it.
This sums it up so well. Exactly!
Well, no, now’s a great time in live because it’s a content drought so dropping something like this to be tested like cross-faction last expansion is a great timing in my eyes. Plus way more people get to try it than in PTR
I’d add that follower dungeons are mainly aimed at casual players and I’m not sure that casual players are a big part of the PTR population.
Exactly! You said it way better than me
I just did my first follower dungeon. Yes, they’re slow. I love them for that though, as dot classes actually seem playable and fun unlike any level below +20 keys.
That sounds amazing, i always hate doing timewalking dungeons on my demo lock or elemental shaman because i can hardly get a spell off before everything’s dead, so being able to run dungeons and actually do stuff except run like a maniac after the others seems great…
Now let’s hope that in TWW, Timewalking gets added to follower dungeons.
did one ruby life pools on my level 70 draenei ret
it went well
when someone died they brought their jumper cable engi combat rez
did it for one story quest
one hiccup with the tank npc losing aggro tho can happen with nokhud trash(where the undead birds/dogs are)
getting my horde hunter to 70 so i can get the legendary sylvanas bow
which other hunters are willing to pass unlike my melee dps and the red jaithys
(which is why i want said mythic bosses to drop a dinar so i can buy it instead)
well there is a reason why all the auto-battlers on mobile phones are really really popular and have like milions of players.
a lot of people want exactly that
