If you want to re experience the classic feel leveling wise every server can give you that som or classic era. If you want to experience all of classic endgame, well none of them can. I dont even know if there are any alternatives but you could prob try and look, either way you could at least try and enjoy the extremely plentiful classic wotlk that surely would give you a better albeit none vanilla experience.
Hi, don’t rely too much on that site.
They say their data is sourced from active raiders on WarcraftLogs and active players on the PvP leaderboards but the thing is that not all players put logs on it.
I’m playing on Firemaw, horde side, and I know it’s balanced. Both factions have at least (and for sure) 3.5k characters each logged under the last 30 days, and the population is growing each day.
Quoting from the thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/vy59yd/undead_era_the_actual_state_of_the_classic_era/
Regarding sites/resources that can help track down the amount of players logged to Classic Era realms, the old handy solutions we had in the past are not a thing anymore.
- Ironforge(dot)pro: hasn’t been relevant as a reference for Classic Era ever since TBC came out; they kept a useless non-updated archive of Classic Era characters before the connection/merge happened but then focused only on TBC/SoM.
- wowclassicpop(dot)com: since long time shows numbers for TBC only.
In addition to that, [there is absolutely no other reliable way to check how healthy Classic Era realms are other than having the CensusPlus addon installed and keep the results “pruned” (aka, clearing out from the scan all unique characters logged over the last 30 days) like some of us already do, so the data stays relevant for that threshold.
If you want to know more about it you should join the Vanilla Classic Era discord here: https://discord.gg/ZVVPRt8YGK
I think, for the most part, I replied with my previous comment, but anyway what you were told by your guildmate is right.
We are materially building a census ourselves through the CensusPlusClassic addon, and that registers every player logged during the scan itself.
That will automatically get pruned after 30 days, removing characters not played by that threshold. And the 3-5K are the already pruned results for each faction, so the total population is double of that.
About Pservers the short answer is “No one will ever be satisfied, no matter what happens”.
The long one can be my pov about it.
I’m not satisfied either about many decisions that has been made about Classic Era (no 1.5AV, no old epic mounts etc…) but I still play Era because it won’t go away from one day to another because of a random DMCA and, despite the complete absence of GMs, there’s no corruption.
They aren’t satisfied about Era because it has flaws compared to a legit 1.12 vanilla server, but they always seem to forget that Nostalrius was the only uncorrupted one (it started the whole Classic WoW petition in the first place), while all the new pservers that show up (even future ones) are always corrupted to some extent.
Yeah, no thanks, I’ve played on at least 4 pservers and I’m done with them, no regrets at all.
Many people mostly prefer to play the early part of the game.
Everyone has their own tastes but I think those Pservers players who, down the line, changed idea about the deletion of their characters just to make space for a fresh new Pserver realm, wouldn’t probably keep playing on those for this reason.
Vanillataur speaking da truth.
