I no longer see WoW as a game with a story

Like 70% of this things has cartoon named gravity falls, do we deem gravity falls very dark and gritty?
None of this elements make the setting dark just by itself, most of the really dark things that Warcraft has is exaggerated to the point of being silly, or caricature, like for example half of forsaken warcrimes throught their main storyline is brushed aside as tongue in cheek joke.
Blood splatters also are very unrealistic on purpose because game is 12+ and we have cartoony gore bordering on completely unrealistic since Warcraft 3, guess why.

Warhammer fb is largely satire on dnd and has many instances of being borderly silly with large amount of puns in names, what WoW really is - tame more appropriate to masses Warhammer with large DND influences (mage spell names is bright example of directly taking elements from dnd)

They’re making you feel safe for when they just randomly kill off a bunch of important characters and nuke Azeroth

I feel like people either dont read the quest texts or just dont pay attention…given this game is child friendly you wont get x rated horror style content.

But Ive just watched Fyrakk straight up burn his own followers to death. Plus in the Waking Shore some of your first quests involve helping a Drakonid retrieve some dragon eggs which have been corrupted and must be destroyed…meaning you are essentially killing babies!
Those are just 2 random examples from the game.

Seriously its not Blizzards fault if you lack imagination!!

WoW is trying really hard to be Happy Tree Friends right now.

It’s not going too well.

It is, and it constantly ridicules these kind of themes or don’t talk much about them, won’t ever make anything gory too graphical, we are getting “screen fading out to black” when someone DAAARES to axe someone’s head or use any other weapon in any graphically violent way since forever, none of the dark themes gets properly flased out, last time they tried it was burning of teldrassil but it was so awkward half of community still doesn’t understand that this act supposed to be condemnable by horde players too, not just alliance.
Deep dark fantasy

So, you saw it as one before? Weird… story has always been bare bones on this game.

I don’t even pay much attention to the story. I skip the cinematics even on first viewing, and I have an addon to blast through the quests without reading them.

If I wanted a good story, I’d read one of the many great works of literature out there.

Playing with my friend who’s a first time player and he loves the lore so far in BFA lol

Because world building, lore is almost always good, like from the recent look at q’onzu, very entertaing classical trickster god.
Usually its main storylines that are bad

Nobody is asking for extreme content, just a return to the level of grit that existed in prior expansions.

The character just came across as annoying to me rather than charming and I usually like trickster figures.

Social Contagion, plays a big part in this; you rarely see a movie where the antagonist wins in the end and it’s romanticized, and as a result, we have less interesting stories.

Plus, Go woke go broke.

It’s happening everywhere, Disney Snow White: she’s now a Girl Boss who can beat up all the men, she’s The One who will dismantle the patriarchy.

Annoying can be applied to trickster type of god too, he just feels done right, annoying, chaotic

Why is it always about “next xpac will be better”? Why not start now? Why do we have this kiddy disney crap NOW? In that trailer with Fyrakk talking to Alextraza, he should have been beheading her and putting her head on a spike and then the others assemple to get some sort of revenge on him. That would be more warcraft.
Not this marvel disney garbage for 5 year olds. Nothing has consequences, all the good guys win and are alive and happy.

If they cant fix it right NOW, they wont fix it later and you will get same marvel soy disney crap for the rest of their entire “saga”. Story might as well be nonexistent.

because every expac has occuring theme to it, an idea, as you can see df wasn’t a daemonculaba from the start, and won’t be in the end too.
Anyway QUACK QUACK QUACK

BECAUSE SHADOWLANDS.

That expansion damn near broke my spirit with how dark, edgy and depressing it was.
I am so glad they’re doing this kind of story now.

Don’t like it? Deal with it.
Undoubtedly there will be other themes in the future (but hopefully never something like Shadowlands again - everything dark and edgy everywhere is NOT a good plan).

Take BfA… The systems might have been crap, but the zones and themes were nicely balanced: Some were pretty and cozy and others were dark and brooding or violent. That’s fine.

I view DF as a cleansing palate for the horrible taste Shadowlands left.

I agree instead

Not neccesarily, a lot of creatives that I know, including me, wish to someday be able to create and work on our own stuff and IPs. I mean I love spider-man, I would love to draw/write for spider-man but I would love more to create my own spider-man.

No no no cant have emotion. Only blood guts and war /s
