The notion that Blizzard themselves are using bots is absolutely ridiculous. There is a bot problem, but c’mon…
No is not.
In fact, it makes total sense. Blizzard owns the code, has the keys to all the gates, and decades behind perfecting its online “Matrix”.
By allowing or running bots and the Gold Market, they can guarantee themselves an insane amount of complementary profit.
If bots truly hurt Blizzard’s bottom line, the war on them would be relentless.
Also, I have played on pservers in the past that had way, WAY better bot detection and deletion. This is a big red flag and the reason why I entertain the possibility.
Why run bots though? If Blizzard was selling gold they could just spawn it in no need for bots at all for them.
On a lot of pservers GMs have been known to sell gold, they didnt use bots they just spawned it in.
Agree - Still, bots would need to be ‘allowed’ to provide cover for the operation. Blizzard doesn’t have to have the monopoly, just run it stealth mode.
This is tinfoil hat nonsense. No-one believes this, not even you.
We live in a world in which all sorts of money moves underground.
I am laying down the possibility of this happening. I am entertaining the possibility. What do you entertain? That Blizzard is good and righteous? If so, please tell us why?
Maybe then you can add something to this conversation.
Every Bot pays a subscription, so it isn’t really in Blizzard’s best interests to prevent them playing.
In many respects the existence of bots continually farming materials will depress the value of goods on AH, not increase it, so there is a fringe benefit to the player base which should not be dismissed lightly.
In 20 years of playing WoW I have never had an instance where the existence of a bot has caused me any issues in game - they are simply there doing their thing - it could just as easily be another player I was completing with at a farming location.
I think the whole discussion about bots is a distraction.
Stop and think about how they are really having an impact upon your own personal journey and for the vast majority the answer will be no impact whatsoever
I do agree - I think in many ways the discussion is around principles → RMT is bad because it does offer an unfair advantage to players, and the ones who do not (the majority) feel cheated on.
I do however think the RMT crowd to be more cutthroat than your regular Classic andies. I do not have factual evidence to support this, just anecdotical. Therefore, I tend to assume that the more RMTers a server has, the worse overall vibe / community you have.
Also, there is the whole Blizzard doing what discussion, which again goes back to the ethics and principles of the game.
Also, I have played on pservers in the past that had way, WAY better bot detection and deletion. This is a big red flag and the reason why I entertain the possibility.
I think an explanation for that may be that Blizzard needs to be 100% sure before they ban an account. If they didn’t, it’d be bad service towards paying customers and they’d end up with a bad reputation that way.
I have no experience with pservers, but I could imagine the playerbase being quite a bit smaller too? If that is the case, the big money would probably be in the official version, which could potentially lead to more sophisticated bot programs in WoW, to avoid detection as long as possible. As Blizzard said themselves, it’s sort of an arms race, and I’m guessing their war is on quite a bigger scale than on pservers.
That said, I understand the frustration when a clear bot is still running around doing the same thing weeks later.
a friend of mine tryed a Pserver 15+ years ago, he could just /print gold /print level by himself
bots have no benefit on Pservers
/print level 150, ding you are lvl 150
Why run bots though? If Blizzard was selling gold they could just spawn it in no need for bots at all for them.
Smoke and Mirrors
The reason they are so infested is that the players participate in RMT to a very high degree. Large demand = More bots.
You can argue that blizz aint doing sht about it and you´d be right too, but the players are still more to blame.
Smoke and Mirrors
Makes no sense tbh, less people would complain if there were no bots and the people who buy gold would still do it
That pserver sounds like a trip - which one was it?
In the ones I played (Feenix, Kronos, Lightshope) there was an attempt at making things look “legit”.
i don’t remember the name its too long time ago, when we were in internet café
i suppose the admins of Pservers can make whatever they want in features → you could have 100% talent points in all trees if you want, anything everything
Makes no sense tbh, less people would complain if there were no bots and the people who buy gold would still do it
Why fight with bots if people will still buy subs after complaining
Every damned troll mage/hunter are bots. This is not real, so many bots. Iv never seen that many from year 2004.
Im really thinking about stop playing wow.
I think blizzard will not help us.
Spineshatter horde
Why fight with bots if people will still buy subs after complaining
Why not remove competition if you sell gold yourself?
Why not remove competition if you sell gold yourself?
Bots still pay subs.
Every damned troll mage/hunter are bots
So people dont play troll mages and hunters?
