Surprised to see the thread is still active. What have I missed
A headache.
I misread the title as “I’m cornered by the amount of high elves” and was wondering what kind of elf street gangs was causing the trouble.
Pssh, nothing personal kid.
You wake up in a dark alley. You don’t know how you got here, you don’t know where you are. You only want to get home. You leave the alley to regain some sense of orientation, only to find yourself on a street full of identical elves. As soon as they notice you, they all turn towards you in perfect synchronicity. “One of us.”, they chant as they encroach upon you. There is no escape.
Mfw reading through 800+ missed replies in the past two days:
https://media.tenor.com/ADo7oDxUE_YAAAAd/despair.gifYou mentioned that some things Kheenah as a character shares might be too public overall - which should be changed to an extend, at least from now on. Anything non-WoW site/outside Dust Scavengers Discord/not in-game related was with some sort of liberty before, but it should now also apply to names and context of the caravan and officer members on most reasonably related sites.
But why not everywhere and everything restricted? Well, it may come as a surprise to everyone, but nobody pays us to run the guild. We’re not a company with a quarterly reports of “vulpera reputation in community” stock. Our responsibilities are reasonable to what we perform within the guild, and we’re VERY strict about our quality and moderation wherever you would interact with us on our Discord or in-game or any ‘official’ media we use for caravan.
Most of the examples of mean-spirited comments/jokes/whatever you provided as some examples of ‘accidents’ by Kheenah, were specifically surfaced by one or more individuals with personal agenda to make Kheenah look as the devil and unfit for duties. I guess if you only see those things, they do look totally evil, but this is not in any way how they behave and rp ‘where it matters’ in terms of our guild, community in-game and what not. Otherwise, they would be judged harshly for it and removed from the guild.
I’m in the guild for over three years by now. Bit less than that as a Silverfang, and I tried my best to make sure everyone behaves there fairly and up to standards. But we’re also adults outside the game, having their own lives, and internet is a big place. I can’t in honest manner expect to policy everyone everywhere all at once, and judge them to a point of never having mistakes. We’re more of friends in the guild, than soulless members, and if I can see the work, will to be better and commitment, I’d rather look at that, than will of the masses to burn people to the ground for not being perfect.
I guess the topic is bit overdone, but I just wanted to add my words out there. Either way you’re entitled to your opinion, and I don’t expect you to change it, or recommend our guild in future ^^ What will happen, will happen. I believe we do honest work where it matters with our community and our RP, and it will show.
So to clarify: Are you saying there has been no in-game referencing to the stuff that was mentioned by the character?
I’m bit confused how the question is put. Feel free to quote specific part ^^
We really trying to make some moral debate between murder and paedophilia over trying to get your rocks off on an online massively multiplayer online roleplaying game?
Truly, this is Argent Dawn.
Stuff like this and wacky goreposting get brought up often enough and the general concensus is “what? no that’s weird”, far as I know.
Though those topics don’t usually last as long because they don’t have people crawling out of the woodworks to uhm ackshually them, or defend it.
Dare I ask what happened here?
Press X to doubt. You can’t compare the stigma ERP has to these other bits of RP. And I am not even talking about “whacky goreposting,” whatever that is. I mean the RP of killing and hurting things in general as a more mundane example, and high octane torture RP as an extreme example.
Recently, I watched a worgen pit fighter in Tanaris create shadow magic tendrils that slithered into her enemy’s skull through the nose and the mouth and the ears like that scene from Pirates of the Caribbean and crushed his skull into pulp. Just a thing that comes to mind.
But ohnononono these people are writing smut ohhhh how dare they ahhh the insolence the depravity the degeneracy
I’ve never understood how violence is less taboo than sex in our society. A bunch of people can’t even approach their romantic interest because they’re so frightful and awkward and insecure. Some of them made up whole religions that admonish the object of their insecurities! And it’s always, always under the guise of some supposed moral superiority.
The game is dying. The community is dying. Let these vulpera phuk if they want to.
There’s nothing to defend, it’s just funny how precious people get specifically about ERP, which in most practical cases that I’ve seen is North RP guild officers who are all in relationships and on private discords do stuff by the pond in the garrison I guess.
I don’t even know what this means.
I have tried to keep myself from answering despite reading the post because I had no wish to derail the topic further. But I believe it is better I provide atleast one answer to sum up everything that I have read, I am afterall the main crux of the hate you seem to want thrown at the Dust Scavengers.
Accidents or not, those were posted and did come from my mind. For the first Twitter case, I don’t remember posting it, tried to deny it because of it, owned up to it when evidence was given ; For the second Discord case, that was supposed to be dark humour based on a meme about “hey look, the water to the Life Pools comes from the dragon spa”. I am someone with a very dark and liberated humour, to the point of -those- subjects being on the table, and usually I have a crowd that enjoys that kind of no-limits crass jokes ; If you’ve played Cards Against Humanity, you can envision what I mean.
But then it happens I made the jokes to the wrong crowd, got called out on it, deleted them when it was done ; I should have done more to ensure that I was speaking in the right one, being proactive rather than reactive.
I can only say “Deeply sorry this affected your vision, and it is a work of improving to be better on that point”, and add that absolutely nothing of those two stumbles have anything to do with roleplay-related character traits, as we make a good and intransigent point of stating in our rules that NSFW should not be seen in the confines of our guild’s roleplay and Discord.
At any rates, that is me, and not the guild of the Dust Scavengers. While nobody in our guild is perfect, I am proud of having been able to lead it for a bit more than two years now, alongside the rest of the Silverfangs ; There might only be Niko, Xan, and myself left as the leadership now but all of them did an amazing job while they were there, be it for moderation or creating quality Vulpera RP for the server to enjoy.
Dust Scavengers is a work of love by its community and for the community, be it DS or the wide of Argent Dawnn nothing more and nothing less, with its qualities that we highlight and its flaws that we try to correct. And yes, sometimes it can look bad because we do revendicate accepting novice roleplayers in our midst, whom can do a lot of mistakes when they start and we can’t snap our fingers for it ; Everybody needs to start roleplaying somewhere and we have no intention of being that community who expects exclusively quality out of the gate, even if that can be a bit problematic at the start.
Once again, everything is always a work of betterment and progress. To quote what someone else linked, “Don’t be sorry, be better” and we live by it.
TL;DR : Mindset of “You can joke about anything and with everyone” backfires badly, nothing is actually in-character or remotely a personal stance, only crass OOC. And I will not expect to be told “oh okay, do more efforts in being better then”, you are entitled to not liking the mistakes I have made.
Such a mindset is not the norm in the guild, or even used within it, so please atleast direct your hate fully on me rather than dragging in my wake the good people I am proud of leading.
Now that this derailing is done, back to the actual subject of the High Elves ! I actually had fun making an official account of the amount of high elves that exist in Lore based on Lore information gleaned here and there, and let me tell you something, they shouldn’t be as numerous. Here’s the breakdown !
Around 150 000 high elves lived before the Third War started
Arthas eradicated 90% of the high elven population - roughly 15 000 high elves remaining
Then only 10% of the high elven population does not become blood elves - meaning only roughly 1500 high elves existing in the whole world
All of this worked backwards from the official info of “Kael’thas took roughly 15% of the remaining population into Outland, and his armies numbered around 2000 elves” and “Arthas massacred 90% of the high elf population”
Of course, this is all BC information so that’s very likely outdated and retconned, but I think it was still a fun count to make for the giggles.
So my answer to the amount of High Elves ? Wait and see what Blizzard says, because the information that is relevant time-wise is too scarce.
Just report heavy violence and ERP.
Don’t pick one or the other. They both break the ToS… Take annoying swearing RP with it too.
Personally I’ve come across more public ERP than extreme violence. Most battle emotes are quite tame and vague. Haven’t seen torture RP personally either.
But anecdotes are anecdotes. If something is bad or makes you uncomfortable, make your feelings known. If needs must, report it.
Its also worth noting as always that we as players are more restricted than Blizzard. Blizzard is regulated by the esrb and its pg-13 rating, which allows them some light swears and some violence etc.
But as players we are completly limited to the ToS and CoC becsuse online interactions cant be regulated by the ESRB.
And to make sure things are safe, we are held to a higher standard.
This one:
From what I understood, these references (note, not actual things, but referring to them) happened in game, but according to you they did not?
Furthest Blizz seems to go with violence is with the sheep tyhat fall from the sky in pandaria’s grassy zone with the giant lizard with canons on, that explode when they hit the ground and leave a pile of blood lmao
It’s not that all for me, personally. I will quote Akamito on one of the best posts ever made on this forum, because it is a deeply damning and at the same time eye-opening post that really answers all there is to the issue of ERP in the game.
I suggest you give it a read.
