In all honesty ,
I don’t even understand why there are so many wise people , on both sides (retail and classic) and just continuously slamming each other for a reason of trying to prove which one is ultimately better. I can’t side with either, however just a few hours ago I tried classic for a good portion of time and I didn’t find it appealing. I don’t mind mechanic of sitting and digesting food like a truck load , it’s fun. I don’t mind quests which you are only able to take after certain animation on the quest giver window of text. But the hit times , the tedious process which in turn makes difference only after you put significant about of time and I mean… weekly amount to make a big one - it’s not what games are designed for.
Classic cannot bring you costumes and dress up things for a nice role play (not into it, however many people are)
Classic is more like a second job, or a woman , and to whom if you won’t give enough devotion - will not be with you and won’t make you happy.
The RPG feeling of early and mid 2000 - yes , it does give it a face full.
I was thinking. What happens when people hit level 60 in classic and all raids and instances have been went trough. What then ? It’s supposed to be vanilla right ? So they cannot bring the expansions back into play, and even if maybe stopping at Wotlk - That also would be … illogical and unvanilla like ???
I like classic for what it is, but I will stay to my cozy Retail which has been honed , albeit with its flaws - I find it to be more vanilla than actual classic.
As retail once was vanilla , it still has the foundation , it still is the same game, but with tweaks appropriate for its times,
Classic just tickles the nostalgia gland and bringing what once was , but is it really right way? In my opinion these things , like the game itself back in 2005-2007 , it is a done chapter with all its communication aspect, drama , ninja looting - it’s not supposed to happen more than once. I don’t think it’s even possible. Recreate the feeling - yes , but events and everything else which made vanilla experience what it is - unlikely.
