Im happy that we have retail

Okay.

But I never said people do not act this way in Live. I said that a lot of people there do not greet people, etc because being friendly or polite does not grant any significant advantage. Some people are polite everywhere they go. Some are only polite when they feel they have to be or if they think they will get some manner of advantage from it.

So not sure why you were trying to make a point to me when I didn’t contest it at all.

Dunno, I was agreeing with you, only pointing out how it’s funny that the same people who would call you names on forums for playing retail then tell you to go play classic because of how nice the community is

One more thing that came on my mind - not only that Classic makes people somehow act nicer, but it also amplifies the dickish ones.
Epecially when it comes to open world - mob tagging, quest objects and treasure chests.
Since the tags are not shared, you have to beg for invites, which only makes the a-holes feel better about themselves, or the situations when you fight your way to either a quest item or a treasure, only to have someone run ahead and loot it while you’re still fighting, not even lending a hand.
You don’t have this on retail, simply because it’s not possible.

Fair enough.

Well the Classic community APPEARS to be nicer. That’s not the same as actually being nicer. There are a lot of players who are all smiley emojis to your face but would ninja loot your BiS in a heartbeat if they think they can get away with it.

The more truthful thing to say is that the Classic community sometimes gives better first impressions. Players will usually opt for being polite and friendly because doing so will make people more likely to pass loot for them, invite them for a second dungeon, etc.

But as I said before people always eventually show their true colours. There aren’t legendary stories about ninja looters from Vanilla for no reason. The game had plenty of bad eggs. It just so happened that many had a friendly face until it no longer suited them to. And it’s the same in Classic.

I am happy we have Retail too. Now lets hope Blizz look at it and realise how bad it is.

Isnt so bad as the ppl say. Zones are marvelous as the levelling exp. The majority of the dungeons are enjoyable and fun. Even Raid (ok not all but some).
There are some terrible flaws (professions, azerite, essences, PVP). But not all is to put in the thrash

I enjoy both. Classic for its slower pace without us DPS’s shouting “GOGOGO!!!” and strong sense of community with people spontaneously helping each other. I also like the retail with endgame and all QoL things.

The biggest problem with retail it seems for most people is “communication aspect”. Blah-blah-blah , so cold to each other, ooooh he did not answer my message while doing this quest on probably like 15th alt in retail :’((((( bad game, retail is baaad.

If you want human interaction - go outside and communicate with people.
This is a game and people play it how they want. Socialising is something cut out for the outside world nord.

It’s a fantastic game if you got someone to play with while leveling

This is a choice. Not a given.
You can play Classic with the same kind of mindset. Rushing everything. Using addons that hold your hand every single step of the way and give you the most advantageous result.
And on the opposite side of the spectrum; you can play through current WoW in a slower, planned way without some of the guides and such (yes there’s addons for that too).

So all in all, that you choose to do 1 thing in Classic and another in current Wow; that’s all on you.

I hope they don’t. Danger is not fun. Dying is not fun. Corpserunning is not fun. Downtime between fights is not fun. Want those things; play Classic.

That’s cause people romanticize the verbal exchanges in Vanilla (not classic). In my experience it wasn’t all that grandiose back then. You basically whispered the guy posting on LFG and that was it. In fact, there were less chances to get kicked for moronic reasons (like not socializing enough with some brat) cause nobody wanted to spend the next hour running back to a city and looking for a replacement.

then they give us wotlk and burning crusade then retail dies… retail will be wiped out if they give us wotlk

well. wotlk after all was where subscriber numbers peaked and espeically pvp was at its peak. We even had Arena Tournament back in the day, a private server dedicated to PVP only. This is indeed an interesting scenario:At least from a PVP perspective, PVE wise no expansion has the advantage over modern wow. The boss mechanics simply werent there back in the day.

I think for pve MoP was the most fun of all of them so far. At least, as far as pve is concerned, it is my favorite.

Well the farmed empty part is because you tried playing it at launch or shortly after, ofcourse many people are going to be in the same place. and walking from different places and then learn the fp is what makes it a world and exploring

retail wow has tedious leveling. Pointless super fast leveling and mostly boring zones due to cataclysm, gear is irrelevant and everthing is in queues

You mean you don’t like to play RPG games?

In all honesty ,
I don’t even understand why there are so many wise people , on both sides (retail and classic) and just continuously slamming each other for a reason of trying to prove which one is ultimately better. I can’t side with either, however just a few hours ago I tried classic for a good portion of time and I didn’t find it appealing. I don’t mind mechanic of sitting and digesting food like a truck load , it’s fun. I don’t mind quests which you are only able to take after certain animation on the quest giver window of text. But the hit times , the tedious process which in turn makes difference only after you put significant about of time and I mean… weekly amount to make a big one - it’s not what games are designed for.

Classic cannot bring you costumes and dress up things for a nice role play (not into it, however many people are)
Classic is more like a second job, or a woman , and to whom if you won’t give enough devotion - will not be with you and won’t make you happy.

The RPG feeling of early and mid 2000 - yes , it does give it a face full.

I was thinking. What happens when people hit level 60 in classic and all raids and instances have been went trough. What then ? It’s supposed to be vanilla right ? So they cannot bring the expansions back into play, and even if maybe stopping at Wotlk - That also would be … illogical and unvanilla like ???

I like classic for what it is, but I will stay to my cozy Retail which has been honed , albeit with its flaws - I find it to be more vanilla than actual classic.
As retail once was vanilla , it still has the foundation , it still is the same game, but with tweaks appropriate for its times,

Classic just tickles the nostalgia gland and bringing what once was , but is it really right way? In my opinion these things , like the game itself back in 2005-2007 , it is a done chapter with all its communication aspect, drama , ninja looting - it’s not supposed to happen more than once. I don’t think it’s even possible. Recreate the feeling - yes , but events and everything else which made vanilla experience what it is - unlikely.

classic is anything but friendly, pal

Irony is I used to say that to Retail aswel  but then I realized you have douche people In both versions.

I enjoyed classic and totally understand why people love it, but I started in TBC so it didn’t hold any nostalgia for me. It was very interesting to fill in the missing piece in my WoW history.

I realised that even though retail WoW is far from perfect, I have returned and now appreciate things so much more than I did before.

I think if Blizz merged the best of both versions they would be onto a winner.
