Ion take my levels!

At this point unless blizz fully rework old quests dungeons etc give them some changes increasing leveling time and reducing levels will result in the same complaints we have done this content again and again and again we need some variety a living world maybe where differant quests appear i know im asking too much in this cause its not gonna ever happen

leveling in WoW feels like a chore rather than something fun to do. especially the first X levels where X is equal to the previous expansion’s cap. It’s no wonder some people shortcut when they make a new toon on a new server. Start a DK, level him to 70, start a Demon hunter, level it to 120, it is the fastest way. The reason they make it a grind is so lazy rich people buy leveling boosts, it’s a smart business move, at least up until you start losing victims, no I mean customers because they get bored with this crap and quit the game.
So by all means Ion, chop off half my levels, set me back to 60 and we can start over, I would be a fan of that. Obviously they would have to rework where all the classes start at (DK, DH, Allied races) but that’s all good right?
actually they need to rework the whole game, like… Outland/northrend starts at level 20 to 25, MoP level 25 to 30, Draenor at 30 to 40, legion at 40 to 50 and BFA at 50 to 60.

I wonder if in all off this, that shelved idea off pristine servers could be used.
Same worlds, but with some different rules.
When you level, you need to visit trainers for new ability’s.
Those ability’s again, have different ranks.

Loot drops are far less frequent, but there will be best in slots to work towards. ( also during levelling, so no lootbags for sperg running a dungeon)
And the only rng on them, will be a low drop rate.

Make exp gained from, running dungeons over and over and over and over and over again less interesting.
But the the exp gained, from doing quest inside the dungeons stays up high.
And you need to run, around the world gathering those quests.

This will feel way more organic and less bland, inconvenient indeed  but will feel far more rewarding.
Levelling time during old contend, speeded up. But levelling time in the current and last expansion slowed down.
Let people enjoy, that feeling off progression a little longer, then a couple off hours, at the start off an expansion.
Investing helps with, bonding to your charactor/class.
Last one, the world while levelling should be a tad more difficult.
And rares unkillable on your own ( no tag sharing unless your grouped up)
Well unkillable alone, unless your on a class likeBM hunter, and have some real skills.
Imo, this could make levelling way more natural, fun, interesting and rewarding.

Now chop off some that ever growing level number, so the above would be condensed even more.

I know this will never happen, but one can dream right

I love this.

I’ve never heard of ‘pristine’ servers, but you’ve just basically fully agreed with me and Razien (see linked post above).

Returning levelling to be more progressive through class trainers and quests (druid forms for example). Give spells ranks, so you can’t empower an ability until you visit a class trainer.
Making loot more scarce so it feels more rewarding when you get it.
Make mobs more challenging so you feel more accomplished for killing them and it isn’t a walkover, including rares needs more than 1 person.
And dungeon quests… I remember Classic Westfall, levelling through the whole zone then finally getting the quest to take out Van Cleef and it was just like, oh crap. I finally have to go kill this guy who’s been causing ALL the problems in this zone that I’ve dealt with so far. Putting quests in dungeons for ease and convenience of xp gain killed that.

Basically, like I said, levelling needs to be reworked. Many people just aren’t levelling characters, because of how bad the situation is, despite the lure of allied races and such. More people won’t endure it for long, meh endgame and zzzzz levelling makes a overall disappointing game, that used to be a behemoth in the industry.

Blizz are cutting staff, where as if they really wanted to improve the game they would invest in the game and improve all these things that people are complaining about (within reason, obviously). Then maybe they’ll see their sub numbers return to something like it looked like before the calamity of 4 years ago that we won’t talk about. They need to invest to fix some of this stuff. Sorry for the rant.

I love how you expect wow to be online in a few years ;D

Jesus christ there’s too many of these threads that are about the exact same aspect of this topic going on right now to actually properly keep track of.

We wanted to let you know that we’ve been closely following the Nostalrius discussion and we appreciate your constructive thoughts and suggestions.

Our silence on this subject definitely doesn’t reflect our level of engagement and passion around this topic. We hear you. Many of us across Blizzard and the WoW Dev team have been passionate players ever since classic WoW. In fact, I personally work at Blizzard because of my love for classic WoW.

We have been discussing classic servers for years - it’s a topic every BlizzCon - and especially over the past few weeks. From active internal team discussions to after-hours meetings with leadership, this subject has been highly debated. Some of our current thoughts:

Why not just let Nostalrius continue the way it was? The honest answer is, failure to protect against intellectual property infringement would damage Blizzard’s rights. This applies to anything that uses WoW’s IP, including unofficial servers. And while we’ve looked into the possibility – there is not a clear legal path to protect Blizzard’s IP and grant an operating license to a pirate server.

We explored options for developing classic servers and none could be executed without great difficulty. If we could push a button and all of this would be created, we would. However, there are tremendous operational challenges to integrating classic servers, not to mention the ongoing support of multiple live versions for every aspect of WoW.

So what can we do to capture that nostalgia of when WoW first launched? Over the years we have talked about a “pristine realm”. In essence that would turn off all leveling acceleration including character transfers, heirloom gear, character boosts, Recruit-A-Friend bonuses, WoW Token, and access to cross realm zones, as well as group finder. We aren’t sure whether this version of a clean slate is something that would appeal to the community and it’s still an open topic of discussion.

One other note - we’ve recently been in contact with some of the folks who operated Nostalrius. They obviously care deeply about the game, and we look forward to more conversations with them in the coming weeks.

You, the Blizzard community, are the most dedicated, passionate players out there. We thank you for your constructive thoughts and suggestions. We are listening.

I find it a ridiculous concept – just another way to dance around having to fix the actual main game.

Nobody really wanted pristine servers anyway, it was just a suggestion in the place of actual Classic servers that we’re now getting anyhow.

It reminds me of the whole “We don’t have Coke, is pepsi okay?” aka “we don’t have what you want but here’s a worse version.”

TBH i would love to see a lvl squich to 60 again

Why? /10char

The whole levelling idea is a bit redundant, and perhaps should follow a simple story through each of the zones instead, which give an achievement, and once you have reached the requirements will unlock dungeons, then raids.

Yea and why? How would just removing levels make it smoother?

It’d see you ding less, and potentially it would take half the time. Neither of which is ‘smoother’.

You know a common problem here with the level squish advocates is they ask for it but apparently have no idea of what it actually means in practice.

Maybe they just heard Youtubers say it and they’re just repeating it? Well, you see that A LOT in WoW.

In my oppinion the sense of progression in starting a new char is musch rewarding gaining a new spell every lvl instead every 5 lvls or so

Already does. Have you even leveled through every zone?

Then you need to ask for the vanilla-tbc-wrath-style Talent Trees. Not for a level squish.

Level squishes don’t change anything to achieve the result that you want to achieve.

He can have them all.

For only 1 million gold a piece.

Why do you want to have a level squish?

I need the money.

Seriously though, I believe an ever increasing level cap doesn’t add much value. At the end of the day it is just a bigger number.

I’d rather progress in terms of abilities, talents and possibly different gear stat combinations.

I dont care im playing Division 2 a far btter MMO with an amazing end game.

Sure but you can just put a cap at 120 then and figure out a way to continue releasing content and give players something else than levels every expansion.

That’s precisely what I suggested in the other thread. Consider the following:
