This should always be in the game. Can’t launch a dungeon key without a tank and healer spec. I feel like the reason they changed the way it all works is because they seen the MDI no healer runs and were not happy with it. I have watched a recent video of this season people doing no healer runs in a +10. 3 rets, an enhancement shaman for BL and a tank. It’s just not good for the m+ scene
Maybe they could give the tanks something else to do besides switch raid bosses at X or Y stacks.
This is 20th anniversary, and I stopped main tank since already few years.
Because after 20 years (15 for me), so far so meh… almost every raid bosses are just a matter of trading aggro at X or Y stacks. Some raid bosses bring tank on specific tactics, like Diurna, but it’s one boss on 2 or 3 whole raids.
When tanks want to do something else and go into PVP, they realize that Blibli does absolutely nothing to make tanking interesting in PVP… while there are games like Warhammer Age of Reckoning, almost as old as WoW, that allow tanks to be useful and active in PVP. It’s not hard : active protection to mitigate damages on one nearby target, and active shield (with CD) to mitigate dmg on the group behind them. Just these two mecanics bring little groups and huge raids to gather and move with real strategies. Bim, tanks in PVP ! But not for Blibli.
And in M+, the success of the timer depends almost exclusively on the tank.
Almost no team play. No need to control, no need to manage adds in a particular way.
Oh, yes, kick casts. Each player has their own target to kick. But that’s not an important point for the tank.
Bringing (imposing) crowd control on trash and bosses would bring real exchanges between players, and real group strategies.
To tank in M+ is just mass aggro after mass aggro, until timer’s done. Yay, such fun…
Not to mention Heals.
With TWW, Bli gives more work to Healers, by forcing them to heal tanks. But DPS must still be healed as much as before. So with TWW, healers must take care of DPS (as before), and in addition, heal tanks.
Rather than giving Healers augmentation tools, which would give them a real interest rather than being only HP sinks, Blibli creates a whole new Evoker+Augmentation class… without bringing interesting strategies.
So yeah, less and less tanks, because Blibli can’t make their game fun for the tanks. And it’s 20th anniversary.
620+ ilvl without ever stepping foot in a group on one of the characters since level 75 and have geared through delves only. With how quickly bosses were dying in the first week I barely got to see their mechanics and it will be a total circus whenever I decide to enter a ilvl appropriate dungeon until I get a hold of mechanics and learn to adapt my playstyle according to the level of incoming damage. Suffice to say that mythics 1 through 10 are already invalidated by the idiotic reward structure and the disruption caused by the implementation of solo rewards which are frankly too good for required skill and effort.
And resto druid has just been frustrating to play for the last two months. I have already given up on the current season.
Oh yea and delves suck. Entry levels of difficulty are a breeze and higher ones turn into a waiting game where as an overgeared tank I go into full panic mode if I pull more than three mobs at once without any available cooldowns. Other time it is a snooze fest and it takes me 10 minutes to kill something which has no special abilities and is simply not threatening to me in any way. If this proves to be the optimal gearing path in the next season I am definitely not touching it again.
The number of delves needed to finish the seasonal journey and level Brann to 60 was completely mental and non-rewarding. I have failed at something maybe twice out of 200 runs but it stopped being fun after two weeks. I retrospect I would have had more fun constantly failing together in a group with other players, doing raids and dungeons.
What the expansion needed was not more solo content, but group diversity and more opportunities, which you won’t achieve by adding new classes and must-have specialization such as Augmentation. My advice would be to start working on classes that can perform only a damage dealing role and introduce or revamp them so they can at minimum perform a dual-role, because with what wow had become, 2/3 dps specs will never be played even if they are performing 5% worse.
The tanks are also complete garbage in pvp and warmode with survivability and self sustain nerfs. It’s like playing a damage dealing spec but without dealing any damage. Not every tank is equal but druids are horrible because they are reliant on armor and every class by now deals special family of spell damage with their most basic attacks and there’s like 3 classes remaining that are pure physical. Also it takes forever to heal yourself up, while warriors for example are able to reset their 30% flat heal on each kill.
It’s a complete mess and no surprise at all why there is a shortage.
Congratulations. You just described how high keys work. No bad feelings when we deplete a key. Gg, nice try, see you guys. That’s it.
Time to give shamans tank spec!
I am actually starting to hate tanking because of pugs.
Most tanks only play with friends, because strangers are acting like enemies.
I have been a Tank since the Burning Crusade, and I’m here to say Blizzard doesn’t have to do anything to solve this issue.
DPS are entirely dependent on Tanks to get into Dungeons. The only place they can show off that DPS meter.
But the way Tanks are treated, you’d think they’re easily replaced. Like they can just be kicked and a new one will show up in 10 seconds.
Instead, the Tank gets austed for no good reason, the Group falls apart and the DPS hit the Forums to complain about how there aren’t enough Tanks.
The problem isn’t how Tanks play. The Classes are fine, the Mechanics are easy enough. The incoming Damage is challenging to manage for Tanks and Healers, but they can be overcome and that is exactly the challenge we signed up for.
The problem is the people.
More specifically, the people who play DPS and just see their Partymembers as a tool.
I will admit, I enjoyed tanking better before “active mitigation” became a thing. It’s just another button to push without anything exciting happening. (Yes, I know it’s existed longer than the period before they thought it up).
I wouldn’t shed a tear if they decided to remove Ironfur.
I also didn’t enjoy the Vengeance mechanic very much, as I was never in it to do high damage.
I enjoy tanking for what it is. Being the guy who takes the hits and enables his friends to go all-out and look cool. I like setting the pace, I like taking the lead, I enjoy seeing other people pump insane numbers on Details.
Controlling the Enemies through positioning, stuns and interrupts, to enable my Party to AoE them to dust more effectively. Using Survival Cooldowns effectively to pull even bigger groups so the AoE’s can hit even more.
Keeping a constant eye on the healer’s mana, realizing that’s an extension of my healthbar.
I love all of that.
I’d like to also add that I don’t particularly enjoy playing as a DPS.
That “I have to be the best” mentality, where everything that matters is being in the top spot so you can tell other people to “ST#U SCRUB” because they did 0.001% less than you, simply isn’t me.
It feels like I’m playing Solo, and the other people in the Group are more of a hindrance.
And it seems many DPS feel the same. Otherwise they wouldn’t be acting this way.
They need to increase the incentive to play as a tank (In M+ as well). A bag of 50 gold is not going to cut it.
Tank for Brann in delves
I’m an active tank. I only tank in my guild groups though, and that’s unlikely to change. People should stop relying on pugs to solve all their problems and join a guild/network and play with people you know and trust.
Playing solo and just teaming with random people + complaining about said random people is not a great way to play WoW.
its easy to just hop on DPS , turn your brain and interrupts off and go for a quick dungeon
people playing dps are mostly douchebags that cant apriciate
how much more goes into leading dungeon or healing it
problem ? go play tank yourself and stop being a douchebag
this is now mostly wow community, people want instant gratification while doing f-all
you think you get keyston hero mashing your dps button standing in stuff
this is why i heavily decline most of the dps when i start a key on my tank
Make pugging less of a pain and deal with toxicity, toxic players should not be playing mythic+
And without Aug! I’m tired of sitting in the queues!
if it was "easy " then we wouldnt get as many peopel doing tank dps numbers in low keys .
reality is bad players are bad - regardless of what spec they play .
as im playing on my aug this season i very much enjoy this state of meta
literaly instnat invites to where it would my hunter take like 10 minutes to find any group out there
this is now mostly wow community, people want instant gratification while doing f-all
and what is bad about it ?
as mop remix has proven , and as dvleves prove people literaly adore easy content.
its time to admit that game in m+ and raids is just way to hard.
i had a blast spamming hc icc in wolk classic on 3 chars so at some point 6 times a week exactly because as easy 11/12 hc was to get - and ofc only hard boss was for pugs hc lich king (and for some pugs sindy and proffesor ) because thats where mechanics matter
people like easy games
As a Tank, I simply do not pug anymore.
I am sick and tired of the hostility and the attitude of people in random encounters.
Start being nice, and we might return
Have tried most tanks, 3 i wont play as my hand is ruined enough as it is, wont be touching those 80+ apm classes. and the rest is just clunked/bloated/boring buttons not fun to press.
Cause it is just tragic how bad most healers and dps are at the game, a 1.5k rio tank is easily as good as 3k+ dps
a 1.5k rio tank is easily as good as 3k+ dps
AHAHA
No, absolutely not.
I just had a vdh that went from 80% to dead in 1.3 seconds that questioned why I didn’t heal him.
He died in less than a GCD. There’s no healer that can heal that.
