I don’t mean it in a “haha look at how bad Siren Isle is” way. I mean literally.
Have you taken a peek at all the transmog “weapons” available on the island? You can buy beer mugs, golden chalices, youngling’s wooden training swords or funny little brooms that you could use to sweep your room. I also found a polearm transmog which is a used dirty old mob to clean the floors with. Is this all some kind of practical joke maybe?
Same goes for all the supposed catch-up gear which is only Veteran and therefore useless for most players. All the items look like pieces of trash. The texture resolution on them is so low, they could be from Wrath of the Lich King.
Finally, the new Ring. Cyrce’s Circlet. It’s completely useless, but surely Blizzard didn’t do this by accident, right? They can’t be that far removed from the game.
I think this is all literally a joke. Next week we will receive a quest that will reveal the fact that we have been put into a dream or have been injected with some goblin concoction that put us into “work mode” on Siren Isle, only to give us a very poor payment for everything we do there. After we wake up from this nightmare or get an antidote, we will get the true rewards. We will receive a quest for the real ring, the catch-up gear will be Champion with modern textures and the transmog items will be actual weapons and armor. What do you think?
Eh about that, we have a pretty big discussion over at this thread about how its timegated to make it go into effective mode:
General consensus is indeed that its underperforming badly atm.
Edit: You’re even the OP of that thread…
Edit2: Blizzard listened to feedback and changed to make gems available (it is currently bugged but intended to be available).
I wondered the same… 584 veteran gear is a joke. At least make it 603 champion or something. You can literally buy a complete 580 set for a small amount of delve coins with a lot less hassle.
As it stands now, it would only make sense for people who just finish levelling their main character this late in the season (which I doubt are a lot). Everyone with at least 1 level 80 main character who has played even just a little has access to much better gear (again, delves and PvP gear ftw).
And the ring needs at least 2 secondary stats to be worth it. Using 1 gem for a secondary stat which is less than any 619 ring although it’s 639 (or higher after the upgrade) is ridiculous (and the heal + damage procs are a joke).
I have the feeling the the Siren Isle is just a minimum viable product that has been delivered to fit into the release schedule. The release schedule is used to give players hope that awesome new content is coming but then the developers (either lazy as hell or “busy” with DEI-activities or the teams have been cut in size to a skeleton crew or all of these points) deliver just the barest minimum to “justify” the content bullet point in the release schedule.
Same with SoD. Great idea, mediocre delivery, lazy design - and once people get disappointed, they publish an official post that goes pretty much like this: “LOOK AT S7, IT WILL GET SOOOO MUCH BETTER, KEEP SUBSCRIBING!!!”. But then they gave up both in SoD and in Retail on class balancing and class design in both PvE and in PvP.
That’s not the real Cycre’s Circlet. Don’t you get it? We are under a spell right now. The ring you are wearing is just an old piece of metal some goblin overseer found in his dusty cupboard. The “gems” you put into the “ring” are just some pebbles he found on the side of the road.
You have to admit that such unscrupulous behavior would not be surprising at all coming from the goblins. If they had the opportunity to basically mind-control all the super heroes of this world to do hard labour without payment for them, you really think they wouldn’t do it?
Regardless of teh OPs opinion, which knowing him will by definition always be as negative and trollicious as possible…
The Siren Isle is, for people that actually care about the lore and don´t view WoW as an entirely engdame performance based product, by far some of the best world Building they have done in many many year, possibly ever.
But you have to actually play through it with an open mind, actually read the tablets, and connect the dots yourself (similar to the way FF does it), and explore the world… like we used to do in classic, becore it was all reduced to “But Muh DEEPS!!!”
Who was this Cyrce? Why are their Kul Tiran graves on the islend? Where tf did these yrykul even come from? Are there naga on the other side of Azeroth? What even caused the storm? All of these questiona nd many more are answered on teh Siren Isle… Just not in a cutscene that spoon feeds it to you.
The isle is designed for primarily for actual mmoRPG players, not the cryhards that would have never cared one way or the other.
And smartly set up so that the latter can come by 1h/week for their “must have because purple pixelz” ring, just enough to annoy them the right amount, and then eff right back off into to their +10s. While the peole that actually play the game as an RPG can spend a few hours uncovering secrets and mysteries as well as some forseshadowing of future events, and have a reson to enjoy coming back next week when more of this is revealed.
Oh my god. A storm! I can’t believe it. I MUST find out what caused this storm. I’m at the edge of my seat thinking about this storm every minute of the day. There is nothing more exciting than storms, especially the rain part.
Because, of course, it bears zero relevance to why we still don´t know what´s on the other side of the planet, and also has nothing whatsoever to do with why Cyrce is dead, why there is a mount to be gained, the Old Gods, or Azshara…
Thank you for effortlessly proving my point that players like you were never going to care to begin with by once again failing to troll me on any reasonable level, and are in fact just salty that it´s not giving you "MOAH PLAYA POWA RITE NAO!!!"due to your IMO wholly misguided interpretation of what an RPG should actually be.
Because you obviously don’t care about the WORLD of Warcraft, only your pitiful little m+ score.
Storms are just crazy. Water comes down from the sky like magic and everything.
Also, I think “actual mmorpg players” like you called them - whatever that is - wouldn’t mind fun in-game rewards just like us unworthy plebs down here. A useless ring, unimaginative toys and worthless Veteran “catch-up” gear won’t impress anyone.
Nobody is forcing you or anyone else to do any of this.
And if you practice enough, instead of spending all day every day whining about other players having things to do that aren´t M+, then maybe, just maybe, one day you might actually clear a 15 instead of having to lie about it
You are the smart one who waits patiently for the early access game to be finished and enjoyable. We are the dummies who are paying full price to be beta testing the product for you right now.
