I like reading the forums and I’m just killing time really. It’s that simple, taking a break from the game for a bit. Girlfriends are busy at work. I’m going to be visiting my dad in the hospital today, but that’s pretty much all I have planned. Does that answer the question?
That’s similar to what I’m doing at the moment currently, killing a little bit of time, but I think a lot treat this forum like reddit or similar when it’s the place a lot of players are directed to to provide feedback. I’m surprised they haven’t done more about it or made a feedback area that has a character limit above a few lines.
Blizzard honestly doesn’t really care much about the forums, they are here I suppose for players to chat and connect. However I can’t remember the last time anything said on the forums has had real impact on what blizzard does.

Uhh, there sure are cultures (religions) that are not to keen on spreading the idea of a quadrillion genders. There was only an option to pick your sex, which according to science there is only two of. There’s never been an option to pick a gender, so why add one? Being attracted to weird things doesn’t magically change your sex?
The only pro gender change argument I hear is that it’s ‘not a big deal’ and ‘doesn’t affect gameplay in any way’. I should agree with that, because implementing these things is purely and solely a political move.

I don’t think religion is a valid argument, and even so these changes don’t attack religion at all, it’s a minor change. And saying there was never an option to choose gender before is weird, as I distinctly remember making my character female. So that’s that ya know? They aren’t adding more genders either from what I know. You might be able to choose whether your character identifies as one or the other but as far as I’m aware that isn’t the case. It’s literally just a reskin of the male and female buttons from what I can tell.
It is a political move but it doesn’t hurt anyone.
The only way to please everyone is to make “male/female” and “body type 1/2” a display option in the game options menu.
And the option can also affect any changes made to quest text and dialog in the game.

Just want to say this is the “Why not though?” thinking. Political changes isn’t what a lot of people want in games, or even to support. Reskinning the entire game doesn’t hurt anyone either, or changing anything in the game, but bothers more than it doesn’t.

I consider myself to be atheist, or maybe even agnostic, but why is religion not a valid argument? Religion and even more so culture made this game and every other game as it is. It’s kind of the backbone in our society, even though I would rather not see it this way.
Gender =/= sex. Sure, you were able to make your character male or female, but you weren’t given the option to turn your male warrior into a ‘menstruating person’ by putting bobs on it and painting his nails because the guy felt kinda fluid that day.
We would never be able play this game or even discuss this issue if we were born in a culture where torturing gay people or hitting women is completely normal.
Politcal moves always hurt people. In this case it hurts my eyes and tiny gnome brain.

Religion isn’t a valid argument against a change like this because religious tomes have many things in them that are outdated, if religion was a valid argument then slavery would still be extremely widespread across the world. Also many were born in a society where torturing gay people was legal, conversation therapy comes to mind.
Religion isn’t a valid argument because “god said so” isn’t valid it’s a nothing argument. Intellectual people should be able to come up with reasons other than religion why something is bad.

This thread fills me with hope. Seems there are sane people left and they are even in a tentative majority judging by the likes.
What a blatant political virtue signalling by Blizzard. This change is both pointless on a surface level, but also insidious deep down, because it is a tiny little potshot in an avalanche of ongoing assault on traditional values of society. It is one cut in a death by 10 000 cuts.
Such things must never be looked over with a handwave, but pointed out and denounced. And I denounce this insidious change.

All blizzard literally had to do was to add Body 1 and 2 ALONGSIDE the genders, then we wouldn’t need to have all the 100s of threads created about this. But no, let’s exclude all players who identify as male or female and include players who identify as neither gender only. Great idea, not…
In this day and age when freedom of choice and everyone’s right to be themselves are more important than ever I’m very surprised Blizzard decides to exclude such a big portion of their player base.
Let people who identify as male pick the male gender and females pick the female gender and by all means have body 1 and 2 as options for those who rather identify as body 1 or 2 but DON’T REMOVE CHOICE.
This choice is important for many players as it is a role playing game and you create a character with a certain image in mind. Maybe I want to be the heroine of Falconwing Square but blizzard now says Nope, you will be body 2 of falconwing square. See the issue here?
Add back genders and keep body 1 and 2 aswell. Problem solved!
