Isnt it about time to end factions? (In game)

I just don’t see why its a good thing to split the player base in two in a 15 year old game.
Every time there is a faction war Alliance & Horde always end up teaming up anyway because of Thanos is too strong to be dealt with alone. Jaina and Thrall are also BFF’s.

Why is there a need to have two factions in a 15 year old game?

I have been waiting for the Horde and Alliance to fracture for so long that everyone begins to question where or who their priorities/loyalties lay.

Just like the Pandarens we should be choosing where we go. But that’s just me.

Factions should have never been a thing to begin with. The war ended with WC2, one remnant killed off in WC3 and another in Siege of orgrimar.

Thralls Horde should have never been written as then one from WC2.

And even so if the factions were no more everyone could play their favorite race!

Which ofcourse is Dwarf.

Ha! Playing your favourite race what a preposterous thought.

Since we have so many elves (for whatever reason) we all can just exile them, so that they can create their on faction.

That would be great…

I like the factions, I’d hate to see them trivialised.

I agree. If they want factions, then I believe they should create a third faction where we have Alliance and Horde together and perhaps the original Alliance and Horde still hate each other and war against each other and maybe even us but we all get to choose. So essentially you’d have the likes of Anduin, Baine, Jaina and Thrall in this new faction and all who believe in peace etc and then extremists like Tyrande (if she lives) and Greymane in the OG Alliance and uh… whomever can’t stomach the Alliance on the Horde side… that’s still alive…

The tension between Alliance and Horde is what keeps me playing.

This vulpera remembers her caravan’s burning in Volduun.
And looks forward to throwing totems at Alliance mongrels on the battlefield.

What will they do for the next expansion:
Battle for Azeroth Again - The return of the revenge of Sylanas Windrunner’s former room mate strikes back.

The current factions do indeed not make any sense. It is long overdue to get them merged, and add a new flexible faction for villains instead - which would maintain the two-faction feeling and not throw off the story.

I have a whole thread about this:

When playing horde I always wished I could pick alliance races…
Now I’m playing alliance and I wish I could pick horde races…

Dangit. Neighbor’s grass is always greener.

I’m impressed, I haven’t spotted anyone using the games title as an magnum opus!

I was expecting someone going “Don’t bring peace to my -WAR-craft! The game is about Alliance V Horde! Everything else is secondary to NOTHING!” but nope, nothin’"

Or at least in those extreme ways of course.

Alliance and Horde - these two factions have existed for so long, that I can’t even imagine this game without them. Perhaps it’s true that they don’t serve their original purpose so well anymore, and in a way it would make sense to merge them, but even so, I hope this won’t happen.

(and besides, my orc shaman would propably have a heart attack if she saw Alliance frolicking around Orgrimmar… :stuck_out_tongue:)

to be honest i think they got the faction idea from the popular mmorpg everquest…

it was a cool thing back then to have waring factions…

it makes more sense in 2021 to have all races under 1 faction honestly…

everquest2 had the right idea back in 2004… you could exile from your chosen faction and do a series of quests to join the opposite faction…

they also had player housing way back in 2004…

why dont we have player housing in wow after 16 years???

i guess that is a topic for another day though.

not to mention everquest2 had playable ogres from day one… something the wow community has been asking for since the beginning of time.

I coulen’t agree more but i just went back to classic as blizzard’s just so lazy.

This subject comes up a lot. Anecdotally, seems like most players are in favour of allowing mix-n-match grouping for instanced content and communities. Maybe even guilds.

And indeed, I would be very happy to roll alts on both factions, knowing I was still eligible for the same chat channels, dungeons, and guild vault. We could finally bury the “I want to group with my friend but he’s horde and I’m alliance” nonsense issue.

Blizz however… don’t seem to realise how much good it would do the game to beef up the number of players in the group finder.

We’re in the flipping Afterlife and we trudge through Hell as it is. What is a “faction” to that?! Too late I’m afraid.

I don’t mind factions but you shouldn’t be locked to them. And allow cross faction play.
Let people swip-swap based on their allegiances and personal preferences our group with friends of opposite factions when desired.
Npc’s and lore characters already do it and it would solve or at least alleviate a lot of problems we currently have. Such as faction inbalance, op racials, group finding difficulties, que times.
