It is about time we toss up the factions!

Honourable and peaceseeking Horde members are merging with the Alliance after the conclusion of Shadowlands. This means that all Horde races becomes Alliance members - and the Alliance now consists of all races.

“Are WoW becoming a 1 faction game now?” I hear you say. And no, it is not. A new faction is becoming a faction for warmongering edgelords and everyone who wants Garrosh Hellscream/Sylvanas/Old Gods/destruction of everything. And which faction is that? The Twilights!

The Twilight as we already know consists of people from all races, which have infiltrated both the Horde and the Alliance for recruiting more members. And they happens to reach out to you and you get the options:

  • Slay the recruiter and confirm your loyalty to the new Alliance
  • Accept the invitation and undergo a quest line introducing you to the Twilight faction.

The Twilight’s new bases will become available, some smaller, some bigger, and even a couple well hidden cities. And the main objective is to infiltrate and do as much destruction to the New Alliance as possible, using the traditional means of the Twilight.

And no, it wont remove PvP.

Addition:

New characters will not “pick” their new faction at the character creation screen, instead only race and class will be pickable among with the usual customisation. And they get the usual choice of starting at their racial starting area, or at Exile’s reach. It is upon completion of either areas the players gets approached by a Twilight recruiter, and the choice is made then.

Now about faction switch - which could become available in a “free” version:

From New Alliance to Twilight: You speak with an recruiter in Stormwind/Orgrimmar and turn in the recruit quest at another NPC outside New Alliance territory. Doing so will make you hated with every reputation subfaction within the New Alliance, and you start at Hated with the Twilights. Better standing and acceptance within your new faction is build up during a lengthy quest line.

From the Twilight to New Alliance: You submit yourself to a specific New Alliance guardian which will imprison you in the Stockades/Tol Dagor/Orgrimmar/somewhere. Doing do will make you Hated with the Twilights and you start at Hated with the New Alliance. As a prisoner you start on a lengthy quest chain proving yourself worthy of being rehabilitated and later released once a certain reputation is reached.

Changing faction back to the former one wont restore the former subfaction reputations, all have to be earned anew.

The problem is that the game is entirely built around the horde/alliance dynamic, ever since warcraft 1 first came out.

Now avoiding the nonsense faction war stories is one thing, but changing this two faction dynamic is another.

Blizz will never remove the factions, they might enable faction crossplay for certain content though.

I hope so i’m tired of the endless wars sure it was fun the first few times but now it’s just getting silly stop beating the dead horse.

It is bound to happen soon unless Blizzard wants to make complete bullpoop out of the lore and force forward another unrealistic faction conflict between the Alliance and the Horde as a Warcraft-refresher.

I don’t doubt there will be more cooperation between the factions, I just don’t see them removing factions lol.

Not having a war is not the same thing as uniting…

As has been done previous expansions.

A select few members of the opposing factions lore wise only.

How can they not work together against the imposing threat upon all that is life right now?

It’s Warcraft. People (in lore) have their intricacies and disputes. Jaina has made an enemy with Lor’themar since the “purge of Dalaran”, despite helping faction leaders of the Horde in BfA.

We’ve fought against world-threatening villains time and time again, yet either faction opposes the other sooner or later lore wise.

With good reason from both sides.

Correct, the factions aren’t having a war right now, but I don’t doubt we will have one again before SL is over.

TL;DR

Every Expansion in WoW has their war, and peace merits.

Lor’themar will kill/wants to kill Jaina Proudmoore due to the “Purge/Cleansing of Dalaran”

We have a common goal right now, but that won’t last forever.

The New Alliance will not be as tight as the current one, but rather as loosely bound as the current Horde. Remember the frictions that always have been within the Horde. Lor’themar and Jaina’s relationship might not be better than a slight tolerance of each other, and Tyrande (if she reamains the leader of the Night Elves) wont have a better relationship with any Horde members (but the elves and taurens?).

In worst case neither the Night Elves nor the Blood Elves joins the new Alliance, but rather becomes an own neutral faction together - or alone separated. It’s many possibilities here.

The only times the Horde and the Alliance have had different goals is when either have had “war victory” as the main goal, and we have had Daelin Proudmore, Garrosh Hellscream and Sylvanas Windrunner as war starters.
This is far different from the current leader’s common goal of honour, survival, peace and tolerance - for real. The only exception here is Tyrande which might become a warmonger - but we do not know yet how her fate turns out through Shadowlands.

Yeah war in world of warcraft, what a silly topic

They will huh? Because a level 60 blood elf paladin with a mere 5k achievement points said so? Alright.

How did you got the impression that the Twilights and the New Alliance were to become buddies?

No… Thx

This faction merge and the upcoming of the new faction is enough content to fill a whole expansion cata 2.0 - and at last an update of the old zones on Azeroth.

horde 2020 looks like alliance 2005 so…kick elves out, make horde horde again, make alliance the elfy pretty faction. zug zug

I do not want the factions to merge. I want the factions to break apart into smaller coalitions.

The current factions are too bloated and nonsensical to keep existing in my opinion.

We need a faction of all the races we have put through a holocaust.

Playable Centaur, Naga, Murlocs… too many to mention.

Would be awesome to get to play as the under-dogs again. Have actual faction resentment. And 3 different factions to warmode with eachother - with some fixes and warmode that would make it about PVP and not PVE bonuses.

The blood elves started it that blood elf mage could just had accepted the consequences but had told her that he was the one there was responcible for it and not the rest of the blood elves.

We can have war against other kinds of factions or allow any race to join certain factions cus the lore is a mess atm so i don’t think anyone would mind.

Hope both Tyrande and Jaina dies.

Jaina to the hands of Lor’themar

As if they never worked together before.

It’s always war, peace, war, peace, war peace, war, peace.
