New addon in the works that is intended for the hunter class. As the title hints at, the addon is focusing on hunter pets, specifically things pertaining to the use of the stables, along with features involving the process of looking for, and taming new pets.
If anyone’s interested, we would very much like it if you check it out, both for personal use and/or to provide feedback towards its ongoing development.
Disclaimer: This addon is in an ALPHA-state, and is considered to be a work-in-progress; certain features are incomplete/unfinished or havn’t yet been implemented.
Sorry for the hiatus, due to some IRL stuff, development of the addon had to be put on hold. It is now back up, and there’s a new alpha build available for use/testing. If you’re using an addon-manager for installation, it may be required to flag the addon for alpha releases, in order to see new updates.
How exactly is this addon meant to be opened in game? I downloaded it trough Curseforge and it shows in my addon list in game but there is no minimap button or an /command to open it.
The addon is a replacement to your default Pet Stables interface, which you can open by talking to a Stable Master NPC in-game. If you purchase/craft one of these items, you can access your Stables from anywhere in the world, for a limited duration:
You can also open the new interface without talking to a Stable Master, however, if you do so, you won’t be able to interact with it in any way. Open it this way and it will be in a “view only”-mode.
Whether you talk to a Stable Master, or open it in “view only”-mode, it’s located as a separate tab in your Collections Interface, the same place where you can find Mounts, Battle Pets, Toys, Heirlooms, and your Transmog tab.
Ah great. Thought it was a minimap button. Addon looks really good. I would like to make a suggestion about the pet list on the left. I’m currently using another addon for hunters and that one shows all pets at once, instead of a scroll down bar.
Also, thank you for the feedback. Currently, there are no plans to add a grid-based layout for the stabled pets. Having said that, it can certainly be considered for a future update. Why wasn’t it planned? Before we started the development of this addon, any time we saw someone talking about the default stables interface, or mentioning what they would like to change, they brought up the idea of a scroll-frame, as a replacement to the grid-style.
We agreed with what they were saying. A scroll-frame generally improves readability, and it allows you to do more with filter options, assigning favorites, etc. Again, though, that does not take away from the fact that it’s less about a right/wrong choice, as much as it’s about personal preference. We’ll see what happens in the future.
On that note, I would love to hear your input on why you prefer the grid over a scroll-frame.
Also, as you’ve probably figured out yourself, the addon is still very much in development, and it’s by no means finalized. You can see everything we have planned in terms of features and functions, on the main page:
The one thing i didn’t like about the standard wow grid were the pages you had to flip trough. The one i showed as an example has all pets in a grid visible without the need for flipping trough pages or scrolling. Also i like to orginize my pets which is a bit easier to do in a grid like the one i showed.
