It seems that our request has been heard

Greetings everyone,
It seems that our voice has been heard so the developers after a month of silence stopped imitating the ostricht.
According to wowhead, recently blizzard sent out a survey regarding possible fresh classic vanilla wow servers.
In this thread I want elaborate that what I think of the options included in the survey. I adress the possible changes starting from the worst in my opinion. Please consider that what I say here is my sole opinion and I dont want to speak for the masses. I m also aware the maker of this survey has been reading forums for the last couple of weeks since most of the listed options was adressed in the forums.
Some of the questions asked in the survey are closely related to each other, but I try to adress them separately.

  1. So starting from the most drastic option which is the lifespan of the new servers: I think the 21-22 month version was perfect, which was close to original vanilla. By halving or quartering the cadence may seriouly damage the content since it was meant for the original time period. There are many cons to do this e.g. how do you expect to gear out ppl from raids if one boss basicly meant to dropp 2-3 pieces of gear, and how is it feasable for 40 ppl who participating. Other things like reputation, honour, gold are affected by this change as well. For this option u have to raise these. Is the rank 14 even possible in 6 month long cadence?. - game breaking
I want you to leave this as it was in the recreation, it was close to perfect, with the 6 phases. If this changes I may not be as intrested in participating. Dont want to play on a fun server.
  2. Faster xp rates: I dont it is a necessity, it wont stop the ppl using mage services, however it may couse the lower lvl dungeons to be less likely favored. If you know what your doing it does not take that long to lvl up. - negative
  3. Increase in gold earning: This may couse influation of the currency. The ppl who less likely to farm gold have more gold in this case, but the ppl who farm it may have even more, thus nullifying the whole idea. Its like government monetary policy. Gold has less value. - negative
  4. Incrase in item drops: I dont really understand this, if an item is more frequently drops it has less value. E.g. farming a nature resist potion recipe which provided a good income and ppl bought it, in this case will yield less, so ppl who farmed it will wont do and the ppl who otherwise bought it from AH now have to farm it themselves. - negative
  5. Summoning stones: while at first it seems a good idea in reality it doesnt mean much since in case a 5 man instance u need 3 ppl at the stone to summon the last two. In raids u allways have at least one warlock to summon. Also the stone is more easly camped by enemy faction than a cunstom location. I dont play a warlock but if I do it woud offend me to loose one of my utilies. - neutral
  6. Barbershop: At first I thought its a meme question, but since we are here I want to adress this aswell. So since the selection of character features for me is trivial (like 8-9 pieces of hairtype) I dont think its a neccessity, however it is true that some hairstyles are clipping trough headpieces like UD mage in tier 2 headpiece, and the yellowish eye for bloodfang helm. It may be better to fix the texture clipping instead implementing a barber shop. The barber shop will likely remove some NPCs in major cities, since those are in a dedicated building. -neutral/slightly negative
  7. No world buffs: As I mentioned earlier its a player generated problem, which already has been adressed by the cronoboon item. - neutral/partially solved.
  8. Debuff limit: It may change the dps rooster, and classic dps dealers like fury warrior or rogue may not allways be on the top in this case.
Since I dont really want changes I dont support this idea, but I dont realy have an opinion on this as I dont usully play a class with dots or debuffs. It may also affect point 9. - neutral
  9. Harder raid/dungeon bosses: Can’t provide an exact answer here, it depends on what do they want to do like more health/stats or new mechanics? I m not fan of these change either. - neutral/slightly negative
  10. Original alterac valley: Have to try in order to form an opinion.
  11. Black market auction house: Depends on the rooster of items.
If I want to to summarise I think Blizzard made a good job recreating the world in the first place. For me the 2 year long session with 6 phases was perfect. I surely want to play on a fresh classic, but what I dont understand is why we have to keep adding changes when the recreation was a succes? I might also want to play tbc this time after the fresh classic. The only thing that casued interfere is the era servers which are like a third camel on Noe’s boat. So please consider the above and keep in mind I want to play classic, and there is a level of changes after which it may not be considered as classic anymore. The minmaxing/streamer crowd are already in TBC.
    Sincerely
    Narud

Fresh Classic+ would be good although I hope they find a way to combat mage boosting.

Summoning stones: Neutral on this one, although I guess this means BFD will be run more, which is a good thing
More difficult raid bosses and dungeon encounters: This is good, I think… then I remember that people still die to Onyxia flame breath all the time… could be interesting though
Increased debuff limit on raid bosses: Obviously a good thing, opens up more specs to be played, etc.
Barbershop: Hell yeah. Too many empty houses in SW and Org anyways, don’t mind a nice little QoL change like this.
Faster XP rate to level: Interesting… I think this would encourage more people to get to level 60. I know a lot of people stop because levelling is too slow.
No world buff in raids: Honestly, I don’t know. One of the cool things about Classic is how everyone gathers at set times in SW/Org and waits for the dragonslayer buff to go out. It’s a beautiful thing honestly. I’m not sure about this.
22, 12 or 6 month cadence: I’m gonna go with 12. Seems fine, especially if you increase the amount of loot that drops from raid bosses.
BMA: I’m not sure what that means.
Original AV: Is it more balanced than the one they used in Classic? Then, sure!
Increased rate of item drops: Good if it means more raid loot. Not sure if world BoE’s etc need to drop more frequently though.
Earn gold at faster rates: This would essentially mean cheaper re-spec? I’m down.

why cant we have the same experience as the ppl played classic? why do we keep adding changes if the original recreation was a succes?

How do you answer this poll because this is terrible

is the absolute worst. NO THANKS!

This is not Classic+ it is Classic light (Retail edition maybe).

I’m all for "NOCHANGES But if fresh (which I’m against if forced upon everyone) then make REAL Vanilla following the original schedule this time around.

As I said I have similar opinion as U do. Dunno bro I was not the one who selected the questions to be asked. We may end up with ppl buying character piloting in leveling/raids/PVP who only have a rank 14 raid geared character and havent even played the game. I never understood these ppl, these are the same ppl setting down the difficulty level on a singleplayer game and typing in cheats…

Well yeah. Modding is pretty common in a range of games because otherwise you are finished when you get to the end - as most have just done with WoW Classic.

Fresh will always have some interest - because I feel the game is more enjoyable if you are in a wave of people doing the same content. Levelling is fun if everyone else is levelling. Its less so if you are the only level 40 on the server and its taking hours to get a dungeon group together from the tiny pool of possible candidates.

Then you have a debate about what content you enjoy. If you found yourself largely raid logging in Classic, you’d probably be quite happy with more gold, more nodes, more drops and a faster cadence. After all, it just means the prepatory grind is less and if you have the raids essentially on farm from say week 2 you don’t need to do 5 months in MC+Onyxia, BWL and AQ40 before the next raid is released. Bringing that down to say 3 months each would be fine.

If Blizzard really want to milk their franchise, there will be “Classic No changes”, “Classic Express” (faster XP, more item drops etc) and then perhaps “Classic Reloaded” where they have a crack at more fundamental changes (such as class balance, hard modes on bosses etc). If they screw it up that’s fine, because Classic No Changes is right there.
Blizzard would be emulating what private servers have done with the content.

But I’d be surprised if they are that brave.

Dumbing down and making easier is not adding new contents.

In that case dont call it classic. For me classic means something close to the original. Maybe lets say WoW vanilla QoL edition, or shortcut edition for busy ppl.

I’ll be very happy if we get fresh Classic servers, I know that a lot of people want them  I’d probably play on one myself for a bit. It would also be interesting if they made “special” servers, such as servers that reset back to p1 and wipe all progress, or permadeath servers.

I like your term “special” servers

Fresh? I want classic+! But please outsource that, I have no faith in Blizzard.

You don’t really mean that. They’re gonna outsource it to some Chinese mobile game development company.

Who the hell wants any of those changes anyway? Barbershop is a meme, summoning stones is like ripping off one class’ signature move and giving it to all other classes, and the rest are just plain awful, xp and drop rates boosted, what the hell, are these private servers? Just go to any Classic Era server, it’s mostly empty and you can’t find anything, there’s your fresh start right there, why divide the low pop even more? Jeez, blizz!

Add some cute new race like vulpera but this time as cat ppl like khajit in TES games.
There is a crazy cat lady in elwyn forest maybe she may be involved in a starting quest where she poures some potion over one of his cats, which overnight transforms into a Pantera (yea thats a good name for the new race). And the introduction quest shoud be to get to the barber shop. On turn the quest coud reward the apprentice riding skill. Did I mentioned the new class mount? Crocolisk, but this time with 8 leggs. It has to be tamed in SW servers. What a great idea definetly classic±^2/* material. Yea these are some trash questions as u mentioned, I just wanted to procvide some sort of reasoning against it. Maybe the effort shoud be putted into dealing with bots and multiboxers.

I’m now leaving the forum in disgust, and if these dumbing down, watering out and “Retailizing” changes ever hit Classic, I’m out.
Over and out.

Faster XP: Neutral, can accept some what faster but not by a lot.

Barbershop: neutral/positive

No world buffs in raids: No thanks. Just have the chronoboon from the start.

Increase debufflimit: Sure, if bosses and trash get’s tuned for it.

Black market AH: No.

Original AV: The only thing I would want is if horde starting point gets moved further south.

More difficult raid bosses and dungeon’s: Yes, please. Increase armor values so a raid can’t almost zero it out and have them slap harder. Along with increased debuff limit it might even out a little for other classes.

Increase drop rates: Leaning negative.

Faster gold rates: Depends, if leveling speed gets increased then we can discuss it tbh. Gold making and leveling speed has to match.

Summoning stones: Neutral/negative (Would be nice to see if it could revive “dead” dungeons tho).

On the length of phases. I want it to be almost the same as it was. We can shorten it by skipping phase 2.

Reading to the posts my conclusion that it will be probably butchered with a number of changes… My hype is went down…

Faster xp? I don’t think this should even be considered, I personally play game for leveling primarily, it’s where the main game lies and all interesting interactions happen. As for the rest, I think harder raids would work out really well

Fresh and Classic+ were in the last survey and they didn’t come to pass. This one may be different but I don’t think so.

I’m not going to play on fresh. I still have lots to do on my OG Classic character.
