Keeping WOTLK Classic servers

Amen to that, amen! Please Blizzard stay a while a listen for once! So many will leave wotlk right this moment if you don’t speak up right now! We need assurances!

I canceled my sub back in February after getting the Pink Love rocket on retail (Which ofc happened like 4 days after my yearly sub renewed) and the only thing that could even make me CONSIDER re-activating it would be if they added permanent WoTLK servers. Cata marks the big divide of how the game felt / played and I for one have no interest in carrying on unless they keep WoTLK going JUST LIKE they have done with Classic. There is no reason for them not to do it, they have all the reason and voices to do it - But as for now it seems like Blizzard is just okay with losing subs over this…

Actually it was… in the WOW Q&A someone asked about permanent wrath servers and they answered that they have no plans for any wotlk servers after Cata goes live.

I would love to have permament wotlk server. I rly enjoy taking my time playing wotlk as it is my fav expansion. For work related reason I often have big periods of time when i cannot play wow and when I come back game is alrady moved to next phase and it feels like all gear I have is worthless and in the end it makes me feels like what’s the point of gearing if It’s gonna be worthless in few month of time. There’s have been plenty of private serers focused on wotlk that keept huge playerbase depsite no new content. I think there’s more ppl like me who want some permanence in thier progresion and wotlk is the expansion to do that.

I have been playing woltk for over 13 years. It’s great that there are official woltk servers. Why do i need to cancel my sub for cata? Why not keep woltk most popular wow expansion and play it permanently and keep subs alive?

if this is true - this shows best how much blizzard hates classic and people who play classic

they got forced by players to open classic and how they want to show how much they hate players for doing it.

a lot of people would never come from private servers to blizzard ones if they wouldnt thought that there will be "forever " versions of expansions

its horrible move from blizz . complete PR disaster

it also shows how dishonest they were during blizzcon about listening to players.

Noone can Force them to open anything. There was profit in classic So they opened classic. In their latest q&a they said there are too many classic versions of the game And they can’t afford to split the classic commubity even further cos interest in wrath is rather low. Which is true cos after cata release wotlk would die anyway.

Need to wait for their analytics, maybe they will see what people a really expecting

reality is so many streamers started to openly stream private servers leveling and stuff on twitch that they had no much choice in this matter.

so yes they were forced to open them . and they hated it from very beggining

its a shaame that tens of thousands of people will be foreced to play on private servers again if they dont keep classic era.

those people will never play cata thats the reality

I mean, it’ll likely split anyway, except those splinters will go to pservers instead. They can’t force players to play on their servers, either.

They could ask streaming platforms to ban them since its against TOS, instead they saw possible profit so they decided to make own vanilla.

Most people will continue, no wotlk era servers were expected from start since there were no tbc servers, most people play with that in mind. Yes many people will quit however thats also expected cos thats something that happens all the time (as in naxx for example). After what happened with vanilla servers after tbc (they died) you can’t really expect them to keep wrath servers up. Having empty servers looks bad.

that is kinda my situation, I came here from private servers to play specifically woltk and I think i will leave back after end of woltk

I’m gonna post this here also. This is what i feel too.

Let’s be fair. I really want to believe that they changed. But on 1 hand saying i want too respect peoples time. And there are so many good games. We don’t wan’t too force you into our game. But then force people to play cata on classic. Is a clear sign they really haven’t learned anything. And make the same mistakes again. If they really changed they would give the people what they wanted. 50% cata and 50% leave those servers alone. People that want cata should be able to have it. I really want them to have it if it brought them joy. But there is a other side too that deserves as much joy. This is like doing exactly why people are mad at you, while saying sorry and that it will never happen again. The Q&a was better then we have ever seen. But some things said there made me want to quit the game for the first time in 20 years instantly. Classic is a love letter to our players. And we build it that we can bring it back in an instant. (But we are still gonna make 50% of our players mad by doing something that made them want classic in the first place again). I really don’t get it.

Source?

They said in the Q&A that they did a survey and that the player base was divided in the middle on getting Cata and let the servers be at wotlk.

I personally don’t believe its 50/50 but thats what blizzard tells us

according to server population trackers there is atm +/- 200k people playing wolk.

even if its 50/50then its around 100 thousands of people who would potentialy play on wolk realms.

if blizz dont care about most of those leaving wow and going to private serers then its idiotic management decision as its potentialy 100k x 11 euro lost monthly .

sure for blizz it may be not super much - but costs of runign 2 - 4 servers in meitnance mode is nothing. and they are potentialy mising on at leave milion euro a month .

not talking aboutp otentian huge losses from the selling of char boosts and tokens .

i really cant phantom how they can even think about it for a minute.

unless its a stunt where they want to show how they “listen to players”

but honestly they would get much better PR if they announced forever wolk servers on blizzcon .

are they really that afraid so few people will try cata ?

I think it’s moreso about the opportunity costs. Maybe a lot of people if presented with the option would choose to continue playing wotlk for a while. But when not given the option some of those people may play cataclysm instead.

I think it is more the delusional way of thinking most company’s and managers have. They know what people want. And everyone should listen too them. And i think that old way of thinking doesn’t work anymore in the modern world.

Even if they force 10 players to go play cata that they didn’t want too> They see that as a win. We convinced 10 players. But the losses they don’t wanna see. We won 10.

Too much options nowadays. If you don’t like something you give your money to something else. And then the company’s get mad why don’t you buy our product anymore. They don’t wanna see that in a way.

Honestly i really don’t blame blizzard for it. It’s just a way of thinking that every big company has today. And it just is delusional thinking.
