If WoW only has 100k players in it thats 60% of the playerbase who mythic raid. Now heres 2 factors.

Without number of players playing at the time of you saying 2k guilds mythic raid you cannot transfer into a % of the playerbase

Gw2 and more survive on 100k sustained playerbases for years and years.
Due to store and ingame gold buying each players value per month has risen 10 fold. People buying boosts are buying 10 odd tokens a month, thats 170 pound a month.

Gearing processes. your Taking a sample size but ignoring the fact theres 2 Other types of content that provide the same rewards. the only reason ur able to say such low numbers, is because ur discluding the % of the players who do these other types of content completely.

you are talking a % of people who raid Beyond the demand of the Mounts in raids, which btw is TINY in itself. most AoTC Raiders only do it for the achievement + mount and Most Do not raid beyond that.
Most players also take breaks after a Month or 2 of the expansion, so gear progression is completely redundent to them.
the % Of players u are referrin to I.E those that stick around to Gear up characters in itself is only about 10% of the playerbase.

if 3% of Players only Mythic raid, and 3% of players only do +20s, thats 6% of the playerbase achieving that game of the Playerbase who engage with the game Beyond 2 months of each Patch.
which means 4% of players are missing out on their demands for more gear progression.

- you cannot conclude that removal mythic difficulty will decrease or increase the number of players.
