Leaf quest

Since you removed your post I cannot reply directly to what you wrote.
I did the quest on my level 60 hunter and I really struggled at the beginning. Being ganked, seeing other hunters stealing the demons… All of this discouraged me a lot.

Almost three weeks passed since I got the leaf and still I couldn’t do any boss, mostly because I felt helpless. One day I told myself I HAD to it and that I couldn’t abandon the chance to get that awesome bow. With help of guildies and consumables, which are mandatory if you wanna do it smoothly I killed them all in 3 days.

You don’t have the idea how much satisfied I felt after completing that quest. Really, now I want to level another hunter just to repeat the quest again for how much I had fun doing it.

Some advice I can give you: watch yt videos and read guides, but most importantly bring consumables and people with you, both for defense and encouragement. Just don’t give up on that!

Says the guy hiding behind a retail hunter… amusing.

It’s definitely easier as “MM”, granted. But not mandatory.

But…

This is utter bullcrap.

The only true part in this sentence.

I did the quest with this spec without much trouble:
_https://legacy-wow.com/vanilla-talents/hunter-talents/?tal=5300020151000000055510305130510000000000000000

Consumables make it easier. Agreed too.

But…

This is utter bullcrap. I did it with crap gear, crap trinkets and no demonslaying gear.

“THEY BE SEEIN ME TROLLIN THEY BE HATIN MON”

Were you doin’ your fingernails too? Tell us which colour did you paint them.

No problem, man. I really enjoy helping players being bullied.

I am going to write down a detailed guide for you and the OP.

First off, the baddies are condescending because they did the Leaf Quest not solo but they had half of their guild helping out.

The Leaf Quest becomes trivial if you have half of your guild helping you out with the right buffs. This is how the butt lickers who pose as L33T did the quest. They had half their guild helping out. They didn’t solo.

  • Silithus Demon is trivialized through Warlock and Priest for the Shadow Resistance buff and Stamina buff. Warlock also gives you a debuff (through duelling) that makes you unfearable. Warlock not needed if you have a Dwarf Priest helping you out.

Lookup curse-of-recklessness.

  • Winterspring Demon is trivialized by having a few people on mounts killing mobs for you or training them away mounted.

  • Un Goro Demon is trivialized by being in the same party with a second hunter who has Aspect Of Nature Resistance Rank 2 turned on. It’s an aura-type buff so you get it while fighting the demon with aspect of monkey turned on throughout.

  • Burning Steppes Demon is trivialized by having Scatter Shot and Deterrence and also by having a few guildies to help you clear out mobs before the encounter and guarding you from itinerant gankers.

This is how baddies like the nelf above did the quest. They had had half their guild helping and therefore they didn’t need special equipment nor consumables.

==================================================================

Practical advice for fighting demons solo.

  1. Un Goro Demon:

Tactic: All melee

Items required: Magic Dust, Nature Protection Potion, Major Rejuvenation Potion, Night Dragon’s Breath, Elixir of the Mongoose, Elixir of Demonslaying, Thorium Arrows, Demonslayer Sword (or Barbarous Blade) with Demonslayer Enchant.

Talents Required: Improved Traps, Deterrence, Aspect Of The Wild Rank 2, Aspect of the Monkey.

You start with Aspect of The Wild on, lay a freezing trap to trap pet, open with aimed shot, then conc shot the demon and then viper sting (vulnerability) then melee the demon to death. When demon comes to melee range you activate deterrence and melee. When deterrenc wears off, you switch to aspect of monkey.

When trap effect wears off, you sleep pet with magic dust and continue meleeing demon to death.

All-in-one Melee Macro:
#showtooltip
/stopcasting
/cast Raptor Strike
/startattack
/cast Counterattack
/cast Mongoose Bite

When not pressing the all-in-one melee macro, spam wing clicp rank 3.

  1. Winterspring Demon

Tactic: Kiting

Items Required: Major Mana Potion or Major Rejuv Potion, Night Dragon’s Breath, Elixir of the Mongoose, Elixir of Demonslaying, Thorium Arrows, Demonslayer Sword, Towel and Restorative Potion just in case you get debuffed by demon so you won’t die.

Talents required: Aspect of Cheetah, Extended Range (Hawk Eye), Entrapment helps when procced fm Immo Trap to get a few free shots on Demon, Arcane Shot Rank 1.

You start by talking to a demon near a specific spot at the southernmost point of its patrol route. Specific point described in Private Server guides. Then, you go up the hill and kill two mobs that will be on your way, a bear and a chimaera.

You lay down an Immolation Trap max rank, open by aimed shot and then run. You use Arcane Shot rank 1 on Demon every time its off CD. If Demon gets entraped by Immo Trap you stop and auto shot him until he releases himself. You apply serpent sting max rank (vulnerability). You must maintain >35 yards. Easy with 3/3 Hawk Eye. You kite demon on the road to avoid mobs. Repeat until Dead.

This demon is meant to teach you how to kite warriors (35 yard range charge/intercept) with 3/3 Hawk Eye.

  1. BurninG Steppes Demon

Tactic: Kiting with limited melee and strafing.

Items Required: Major Mana Potion or Major Rejuv Potion, Night Dragon’s Breath, Elixir of the Mongoose, Elixir of Demonslaying, Thorium Arrows, Demonslayer Sword with Demonslayer Enchant…

Talents Required: Scatter Shot, Scorpid Sting Max Rank< Wing Clip Rank 3.

You lay down immo trap, start with aimed shot then scorpid sting demon (vulnerability) whenever he gets red. If demon is entrapped, get off a few free auto shots. You strafe when in close range so you won’t get dazed, wing clip and get to ranged to auto shot. if idd dazed, use scatter to gain distance. Repeat until dead.

  1. Silithus Demon

Items Required: Major Mana Potion or Major Rejuv Potion, Night Dragon’s Breath, Elixir of the Mongoose, Elixir of Demonslaying, Thorium Arrows, Demonslayer Sword with Demonslayer Enchant, Greater Shadow Resistance Potion, Gift Of Arthas, some Shadow Resistance gear.

Talents Required: Entrapment, Improved Traps, Scatter Shot, Wing Clip Max Rank (vulnerability), Explosive Trap max rank.

First off, talk to him near AQ gates so you will fight him in AQ courtyard so you avoid the annoying Silithus mobs altogether. Once spawned, throw down a Frost (Frost, not Freezing) Trap and then Feign Death after he goes through it. This will remove his red color, and make him easier to kill. Lay down explosive trap and open with aimed shot AT MAX RANGE then concussive shot. This fight is a ranged dps race. He will get dazed or stunned, he will spawn bugs, bugss will go through improved explosive trap, get killed, while you still do max dps. Continue reapplying conc shot to slow or stun while doing max dps. If done properly only a few bugs will escape the Imp Explo Trap which MS will take care of and he will only fear you once or twice before dying.

Enjoy your flashing Rok/Lok. Like I said, I have done the quest in every Vanilla private server solo.

Hey Dartan :slightly_smiling_face: I couldn’t read your original post before it was edited but I can grasp the gist as to what it was about.

The quest in question is indeed one of the more challenging between classes and is remembered fondly by many a hunter solely due to that fact.

Each demon has a weakness/ability that you have to work around/exploit in order to best them. I feel that this is a great way of sorting the “men from the boys” and in the end you’ll feel truly worthy of the reward believe me.

Think tactfully and try again and again until your muscle memory builds enough. It will happen don’t worry.

GLHF.

P.s It’s pretty dark reading through some of these replies/comments. Some of the trolls and toxic players could do with “gitting gud” at life and maybe contributing some constructive criticism/ideas. Not everything is as easy for everyone as it is “apparently” for you. :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

No jokes man, your making this way harder than it needs be…
Winter spring demon… wait until he’s near the main road up north to activate him. Go to max range, drop a freezing trap. Aimed shot to conc shot, should get one auto if not two off in that time… and run away… don’t sting yet… drag him into your freezing trap and run to max range again. Bandage up if youve taken any damage… wait for the max (should get a tick of mana regen there… before trap breaks precast another aimed shot, conc shot/ auto shot into sting… now kite down the main road where there are no mobs, rank one arcane and max serpent sting. He dies before you meet the first fork in the road. No adds to dodge. If you can strafe kite it’s not even a challenge. If you’re a “jump turn shoot turn” type kiter, well then best of luck to you!

Burning steppes is easier, you don’t need the sword, I killed mine with two bone slicing hatchets… it’s as simple as wing clip. Run out of range, Scorpid and then auto shot till he gets to you. 2/3 melee white hits, (he only hits for 1Hp while pacifed… then wing clip, run away from him to where he started from, turn, scorpid and auto shot him until he gets into melee again, 2-3 white hits… wing clip… and just go over and back between the same two points… no need to clear a big mad area.

Ungoro is as simple as dropping a freezing trap. Aimed shot to concus on her, let her pet take your freezing trap and then just kite her in a straight line don’t use concus on her you want to out distance the pet… she will be 5% tops before the pet catches up which case just turn around and melee her, soaking both damage. Kill her. Loot the body and feign death (or just straight up die, cause your probably oom)

Silithis is painful I will admit… solo at least you end up using a bunch of rocks jumping up and down off them to make the bettle mobs just constantly chase you but never hit you. Gotta need shadow res pre pot and healing pots for this one.

That weird manky survive spec you posted is going to get the dude absolutely creamed +440 AGI is the break even point for lightning reflex spec Iirc, so mid BWL level gear. Dudes probably in blues with some epic and some greens. He’s not gonna have the level of AGI to make that spec work… just saying. And I did all my hunter quests solo. (Like I said in vanilla I had to do the silithis one at 3am…

The only bad one here is possibly you.
This time, the only demon I used help for was the Silithus one, yes, I used the warlock trick. That’s not even close to “half the guild” helping me.
Consumables: Elixir of Demonslaying, Major Mana potion, Greater Shadow Protection Potion.
If you don’t manage to do the others solo with average gear, you are just bad. Or at least, worse than me.

And back in Vanilla (the real one, not cheesy private servers), I did them all without help. I did the silithus one in the middle of the desert and not at the AQ gates, just circling him to avoid the bettles.

All with my MM based spec. Not with your crappy survival spec.

Ye cuz the demon was buggy and was resetting like hell , I could never finish him having almost full mana and 50% health while he reset at around 10-15%. 1st attempt with a warlock and the guy was dead got feared once somehow even tho I had curse on me but he died within 30 sec.
