I couldn’t agree more that all technical things in classic should have upgraded to recent equipment and technology.
I’m pretty sure though that the 10 iq #nochange people will disagree with that.
Could you try rewriting your post in a more constructive way explaining what situations make you think it should go, “especially in PvE”? “Remove X” is hardly productive.
Two rogues being able to simultaneously sap each other or two mages sheeping each other were part of it (and in fact this was possible for a very long time).
And batching still happens on retail, by the way. It’s just it works differently.
We did not ask for our internet connections to be nerfed. This thing in particular is very probably a knee-jerk reaction by the developers because we prefer to play classic than their beloved retail game.
Both leeway and spell batching are stupid and are artificial mechanics of making the game feel clunky.
Leeway is the extra range that players and mobs get, which is supposed to allow people with bad internet to play the game. The problem is no one plays on 56k modems anymore, so leeway is obsolete and clunky.
Spell batching was Blizzard’s way of dealing with data in the way that it is sent to the servers in “batches” instead of individually. This is what allows 2 mages to sheep each other, for example, because the server thinks they both did it at the same time. Just like leeway, this mechanic is obsolete and clunky.
My question is, who in their right mind would actually want their game to feel clunky?
Coming from pservers where neither leeway nor spell batching exist, Classic actually felt like a downgrade to me, if it wasn’t for the shiny Blizzard logo and the entitlement of a sub. As a warrior, leeway does not allow me to Hamstring-kite. Because of leeway (and the SPY addon) I didn’t roll rogue. I cannot even imagine how hunters feel…
I get what you’re saying, bro, however those of us who wanted an authentic Vanilla experience were well aware of the limitations that would be put upon us.
I’ll admit it took a couple of days to get used to the leeway mechanic when I leveled my mage (AoE - naturally), but once I did I found ways to use it to my advantage instead (such as making the Cone of Cold spell reach further by jumping while you cast).
#nochanges for whom ? It seems not for me, for example I want to be able to use the cone of cold spell without being hited/destroyed by melee players/mobs, like 15 years ago.
15 year ago internet connections were not soo bad for a lot of people, My ping was 40ms (and i lived in a corner of europe far away from the blizzard servers), now it seems i have almost half a second lag, that is crazy !!!
Funny how Blizzard compromise on #Nochanges when it suits them, but stick rigidly to it when it’s to the detriment of players who actually want to enjoy Classic.
If Blizzard are not deliberately trying to sabotage it, how would anyone tell?
