Legion and Dragonflight: the polar opposites

You’re saying this after Blizzcon?

Disliking Dragonflight, I can almost get it. Not really, it’s a solid expansion, but I can respect most personal preferences, and tolerate the rest.
But acting like DF killed WoW is just plain wrong.

I have been to that rodeo, trust me you do not want that argument XD.

Pretty much the same for me.
Although I liked AP before the catch-up as well. I actually liked artifact knowledge and was on top of that; I saw it as a challenge.

Dude… Stop. Just stop.

Pot. Kettle.

Yes. Because they’ve done that many times before.

No. Also forums, social media and such.
All of which still represents just a minority of the playerbase.

Exactly. And they didn’t.
Not until Shadowlands which had big issues across the board on many levels.

And they didn’t return for DF. So what does that say?
The majority doesn’t want ‘this’? Because that’s what your implying with your arguments.

Not if it their image suffers because the vocal minority that’s most noticeable keeps on whining about it. Maybe they’ll add it back at some point when they’re ready to admit that they listened to the wrong people.

Still doesn’t understand tongue-in-cheek. Go figure.

I don’t want to either. I think we even butted heads about this EXACT topic at the start of DF. But they still seem to be sticking to their guns so :man_shrugging:

Yeah, he doesn’t. Because I’m completely 100% right.

He does have a point.

Ikr.

Anyway… Slapface has created another nice troll thread, didn’t he?
He likes the drama.

Well. Thats a different can of worms. People whose opinion you disagree with are the “wrong people” and people who agree with you are the “right people”?

I’m just gonna stop arguing with them because it’s not worth it.

However, one more before I go:

Your character is female (or body 2), so she was talking about me.

How so? I mean it is an interesting discussion, excluding Breaths insane takes ofc.

No. The people that make your game less popular with a larger audience (and thus potential cashcows to be herded), are the wrong people. These changes have been good for only a particular type of player. For all the rest it’s not become better.

The saving grace of DF, as far as I’m concerned, is that they’re churning out lots of content and some new evergreen stuff like the Trading Post. Without those things I’d have taken a long long break until 11.0 pre-patch probably.

Yea, the actual topic was an interesting one to discuss before breath completely derailed it.

He knows what kinds of topics get some people riled up.
And he can’t help but to try and put down Legion some more.
:dracthyr_shrug:

The interesting part will be to see what happens after DF.
If people are still not returning, then I think Blizzard will have to admit that they really did listen to the wrong people. People who were only out for themselves and not the health of the game as a whole. We’ll see.

DF is probably the best expansion feature wise cause they established some of those features as pillars going forward into new expansions. Crafting and flying for example.
But honestly I couldn’t give a crap about the story. Blue dragons this, red dragons that. Dragon drama. Don’t care.
And consider I was one of the people who was crazy about the wow story until BFA. That’s when I started losing interest. It also just happens to be when Metzen stepped out and Golden took over.
I’ve heard it said at Blizzcon that people involved in the development of the wow story are well versed in the WoW lore and they may be, but honestly in my opinion that department is severely lacking in creativity.

Oh no no no. You leave Breaths alone. His holy “anti-DF” crusade is helping me get through my boring 24h shift

Tbh. Its difficult to gauge popularity. If we look at the Legions/BFA AP farming era. Sure WQ got alot of attention by the player base but did they generally like the world content or they did for the “AP chore”. Sure, I wont deny there where people who generally liked that but I doubt the feeling of “Cant wait to finish work so I can run home and kill those 10 boars for the 17th time again” was shared en-masse.

I made a normal thread about the game.
I came up with arguments and examples. It’s a normal thread.

Just because it’s a Slapface thread doesn’t mean it’s a Slapface thread.

It’s quite easy: Salesnumbers and retention.

And yet…

It’s a completely normal thread. I even started it in good faith by listing a bunch of stuff that Legion did right.

Frankly, I don’t think much will change. BFA and SL kinda destroyed many people’s love for WOW. Combine that with the ‘Blitzchung controversy’ and the massive lawsuit that happened in 2021, well it’s not pretty.

And every expansion comes with multiple changes and people leave for multiple reasons, same as they re-join for multiple reasons.
Trying to equate X = sales numbers is the same as some forum posters use the argument “X was in Wotlk and wotlk had 12M subs so if we re-introduce X then we will get 12M subs back overnight. Cause obviously the people solely left because of one single X and no other reason.”
If anything, if I use the said argument myself then Wotlk didn’t had LFR so…remove LFR = we get 12M subs? Obviously this is not a serious argument and if it was then you would probably be calling the townspeople to burn me at the stake for such heresy.
