I completely agree . Let people play whatever race and class combo they want. Right now it just seem like it is restrictions for the sake of restrictions.
And while we are at it. Merge red/blue alliance into one.

To be fair it was a long time ago since WoW was an RPG and when the lore was cared for. Itâs just a hack and slash game today and all everyone cares for is high dps or healing on the meters or logs. I donât see why this would âbreak the RPGâ when it doesnât exist anymore in WoW.

Illidari are not simply demon hunters. Its just a name. The lightforged Draenei are better demon hunters than the illidari and their techniques are nothing alike.
The Illidari are quite specifically an elven technique of fighting demons that only Elves have ever mastered. You can be a demon hunter without being an illidari, but demon hunters as we know them are what Illidan came up with and only ever taught other elves, because he is quite certain only elves have the means of becoming one, even then, 1/5 of people who attempt becoming one survive.
It is a very long process, so long life is a must, it requires magic affinity to its fullest, your body is literally going to explode with magic on a daily basis, and it requires high levels of agility. 3 traits Elves have. Now you could make some comparisons to other races, but its clear not everyone can do it, in fact they will never be able to do it.
The Illidary is literally warriors/warlocks that ate a demon heart. We saw that in their intro. There is nothing more fancy to it.

I donât mind player freedom personally. So many wacky things have occurred lore-wise that race limitations seem rather arbitrary at this point.
