Just wanted to know peoples thoughts about the level 19 bracket in BG’s. An argument broke out in WSG last night between a ‘twink’ and a non twink. The twink said that everybody knows that lvl19 BG is the twink bracket and “scrubs” or under geared/low level players should not join.
My level 19 priest is not a twink, but very under geared, but I can get some heals out and also act as an easy kill distraction to peel sometimes. I am collecting honour/marks to gear up. I would have though that twinks could just make a premade to filter out the “scrubs”?

There aren’t any separate queues in classic.
Obviously everyone is allowed to play bg’s and those twinks have nothing to say.
They play their super pimped out twink because their main sucks and they want to feel super strong against other low level players/victims… They don’t want to have such victims in their own team.
Anyway all brackets are full with twinks even the 59 one (!). Some lvl59 twinks get help from their guilds to get some epics that they can already use before 60 and then they try to rank up in the 59 bracket.

In my opinion, if you got exp for honorable kills the same way you get for mobs the whole pvp twink thing would not exist and people could just queue for a bg while levelling without running into people that deal thrice their damage and have five times their HP.

Given that there seem to be more twinks than non in the 19bracket, Dont expect to be praised when entering the bgs with sub 700hp

I wouldn’t know, I haven’t played retail in years. Thing is, when I levelled back in Vanilla there weren’t any PvP twinks around, I’d sign up for battlegrounds every now and then, play with and against other levelling characters and it was kinda nice. It might have been different on other servers, I wouldn’t know, the BGs weren’t linked yet at that time.
People were a bit annoyed at seeing low level people then, like a lvl 10-14 in the lvl 10-19 bg (and the same for every other bracket) but if you were lvl X5-X9 nobody complained and you could pull your weight in there. 
No, they play it because it’s more laid back and relaxing and they can do it by themselves without coordinating with a premade. Twinking is a little side hobby, always has been.
It’s been years since exp was added to battlegrounds: mid way through WoTLK. Twinking has been dead on retail for far longer than it lived.
The flaw in his argument is that when twinks were seperated from non-twinks in retail, twinking died overnight. I have a twink so I’m guilty of this too but let’s not pretend that the fun in twinking isn’t in curbstomping non-twinks.
…Twinking went dead overnight because it wasn’t popular enough to have consistant battlegrounds.
Most people don’t want to sit in a queue for an hour for a side game.
Funny you’d say that since there have been multiple twink cups since xp was added in bgs… I belive the prize pool were in excess of $9k at some point, and even the highest rated rbg team in us attended, got 2nd place iirc
But yes I know it’s hard to admit defeat without the excuse of “twinks just stomp lvlers”
WotLK also added heirlooms so by then it probably didn’t matter any more anyway. A new player would be at an even greater disadvantage then.
May sound harsh, but the twink was right.
The lower twink brackets, particularly 10-19, are grotesque. The different of having best gear and enchants versus someone in greens and whites is huge. Having +100 HP on helm and legs versus someone that doesn’t, you are just going to win hands down. Crusader proccing 100 strength on a Level 19 is just bonkers.
The Level 40-49 and 50-59 brackets are a bit more lenient. Of course having the best gear and enchants is still an advantage but the gap is a lot smaller.

Battlegrounds are about entering prepared, if you enter lower than the max level for that bracket or if you enter without optimum gear you are not prepared and deserve to be beaten down by those that have put effort into their character.
If you enter a max level battleground in all whites or greens what do you expect would happen? People that enter any level battleground, expecting to be carried without adequate preparation are wasting the time of their team mates.

And tbh, I’m not even anti-twink but I’m certainly anti people being elitist in low level PvP

What are we supposed to see? “I’m new to the game, better try fighting people that have years worth of experience over me before I even bother learning the game”?
“Oh, I’ll try some PvP while I’m at a low level because I’ll be playing against other people who are also new at the game.” It’s not like the game flashes up a message as you queue “WARNING: THIS BG IS FULL OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE PUT LVL 60 ENCHANTS ON THEIR LEVEL 19 BiS GEAR!”
I have no problems with twinking (I have a twink myself) but there’s no reason to be a jerk to people who are non-twinks or are low level in the bracket. People getting salty because they lost a low level BG is bizarre imo

Real pvp is done at 60 ofc, and you may endorse twinks or not, but you can’t deny the negative impact they have on new players.
What else there is to say, fact speak for themselves - it disappeared the moment it became a legit game system.

No, the amount of “new” people in this game is drastically low. Old games like this have a lot more returning players than new players.
