yeah but people also have different opinions about whats offensive or lewd. Like the example the OP used “bootyslapper”. Some people think some names are offensive or lewd far too quickly. Shouldnt you be worrying more about your name infringing copyright?
For a few reason.
Mainly that WOW is a premium service/environment/game. So therefore you would expect a premium level of quality (yeh I know). I don’t expect to see just offensive words in my premium gaming experience.
You pay money for the safe and friendly environment. I realise this is something Blizzard has been struggling with recently, but the point these are the rules and expectations of the people paying to player. Therefore, they should be enforced.

I would report that name.
It would be most sensible in cases where different people have different opinions of what is lewd to just go with the strictest option.
Better play safe than sorry.
Imagine standing before trial for calling somebody a**hole after he murdered your family.
And the judge goes like “we’re not talking about murder here, we’re examining your insult!”
if such an innocent name is bad shouldnt you also be worried about your name infringing copyright? thats also serious business.
And where does being offended by usernames stop? Some people name their chars “forthelulz” because lulz is another way to say lols. But in my language lul is a ruder way to name male genitalia and also used as an insult. Clearly i am outraged and want that name gone because its not appropiate for little children.
But is the name lewd? Or am i lewding it. Should blizzard cater to me and ban the use of such names? Its the same with bootyslapper, Some people are just making it far more lewd than it is. Just because your are a puritarian does not mean its actually concidered offensive by most people. And i don’t think very small loud minorities should be listened to as if they are the main targetgroup.
On top of that the game is 13+ and contains suggestive content alcohol, violence and what not. Names like bootyslapper should be allowed aslong they are not extremely explicit. It does not reference to any direct sexual act

Fair point. But I would probably go with what was considered the most likely implementation of the word in this case. It’s clear that this player would be speaking English over whatever language you speak. And if it’s on an English speaking server, then the rules should follow English.
I think the thing is, the name OP is referring to is a lot more clear cut on what it means and is suggesting.
And back to, WoW is a premium gaming service and in a premium environment to expect a level of quality and a safe and friendly gaming environment. So it doesn’t really matter what the age restrictions on the game is. If the game promises a safe and friendly environment, it should enforce it.
The game is 13+ due to child safeguarding laws. You’ll find Facebook and other web services had a 13+ policies as well. It’s not 13+ so it can include naughty words.
Not every country gets its own language servers, and if the games gets sold in multiple countries they should be equally appropiate for such said countries if they all play together. EU servers are not like the NA ones where there are pretty much only english speaking people. Don’t you think the game should be appropiate for its age rating in all the countries its sold instead of just the UK?
yes it is, and slapping someones butt is not a sexual act. Sure its inappropate to touch people randomly irl no matter where it is but it is not an sexual act. And clearly in the game he isnt capable of actually touching anyone and its not a lewd name. So why is it offensive?
As i said its just you lewding something wich is not a lewd action on its own. Its like saying “I have a balloon fetish so clearly balloons in names or in game are lewd to me, and because of that nobody else should ever be exposed to them”
Just because you give lewd intention to a pretty normal action or object does not make it lewd and inappropiate for all people

It’s not though. I’ve reported British swear words that have gotten through the filter, because the game is tailored towards its American audience.
First of all, I haven’t sexualised or lewded
Anything. I just said I would report the name.
Secondly, go into public and start doing that act and see how far you get and enjoy having your name on the sec offenders register of whatever country you are in,
Thirdly, imagine you are a victim of said act and it’s really shaken you up and scarred you. Now imagine you log into a game that’s supposed to offer a safe and friendly environment and you see someone named after this crime… imagine how you would feel.
Now let’s go back and remember you are defending this!
Next time you look at yourself in the mirror and just remember that you are defending abuse.
So… if someone were to name themself say… Onepunchman. Would that be reportable? Cuz i cant go around and punch ppl therefore the name is not appropriate if i now follow your line of thought here. Say a rogue named Stabby? I mean there is a line when its just ridiculous.
