LF a Blizzard response: All talents that reduce Spell Resists in PVP no longer works since Phase 2!

Where is a source for that interpretation? What makes you think it’s not a random bug?

Its literally inside this topic. And Wowhead. And bluepost tracker. And even simple google search will pop it up.
If you are clueless, you should atleast educate yourself of what is a public knowledge for months already before posting…

Why so mad? I’m on your side, I just missed that re-post there.

"Excess spell hit can no longer be used to cancel out the effects of talents that resist certain mechanics, such as Unbreakable Will.

  • This rule was introduced in patch 2.4.0 of original Burning Crusade, and we’ve based all other underlying game mechanics and formulas on patch 2.4.3."

You were right, it’s a “feature” rather than an incidental bug. I agree with you that it’s a bad feature for PvP health.

“During the development of patch 2.5.2 for Burning Crusade Classic, we found and fixed a bug”

This means we’re not using 2.4.3 code. If we were, this disastrous formula for resists would be present in Season 1, and we would have noticed and complained earlier.

“This led us to discover several pertinent changes that had happened over the course of the development of original Burning Crusade. These included alterations to the order in which spell hits and spell resistances are applied. We brought those fixes into Burning Crusade Classic patch 2.5.2”

Again, what happened to 2.4.3?

But anyway, the actual change that is ruining arena for everyone at the moment came supposedly in 2.4.0, which is Sunwell patch, but we get to “enjoy” it for 2 more long seasons for the purpose of mirroring the behavior.

Nobody asked for this. Nobody. Same for tornadoes in arena, but Blizzard went on with it anyway.

2.4.3 has some great balance changes - the same as 3.3.5 of Wotlk, which we will likely be playing as well - and I think it’s the way it should be. But that doesn’t mean you have to squeeze in the dumb ones, especially in a cherry-picking manner, with zero information, and with nobody wanting this change.

how pathetic it is to re-release a game with bunch of bugs

Yeah, shadow is wheelchair even without these bugs. Right now playing vs disc is just miserable.

Blizzard: TBC Classic matches our reference 2.4.3 client

Also Blizzard: “Patch 2.5.4 contains an update to how data is exchanged between the client and server. This update should be completely invisible, but we would encourage players to utilize the in-game bug reporter (default hotkey: F6) to report any issues or irregularities that you might encounter, particularly regarding player stats, spells, abilities, items, looting, inventory, or any issues encountered during combat.”

Let’s keep pretending spell hit works as intended, instead of working as both remembered and expected from community. We wouldn’t want players to be happy now would we.

Did anyone notice even more resists (if you can believe it) in emulated ZA patch?
I wonder what undocumented change got cherry-picked this time.

Bump.
Still not fixed.

Bump.
Arenas feel like a slot machine.

Anecdotal

Nothing did

Blizzard doesn’t think there’s anything to fix

Maybe play a comp that is better at dealing with bad rng if you don’t want it to feel like a slot machine

You can be fine with the horrible state of PvP after P2, that does not make it any less broken and fix-worthy.

April 10th, game still unplayable.
I didn’t want to post this, but I just could… not… RESIST

Well, yeah I am aware of their incompetence. Thanks.

push, still important

Playing shadow is just sad, random resists that are supposed to be 1% all the time. Disc priests will resist fear and silence more often than not.

There is something more to it than shadow focus not working in PVP. The resists amount is just insane.

Disc have 25% stun silence resist from talents, more if they use a meta, it’s not a surprise that you get resist even if you are hit capped and spell pen capped in PvP. Fear resist is normal especially when you fear someone that have spell resistance.

It’s just how the game is supposed to work. If you want 0% resist change, wait WOTLK.

It’s 15% from talents. 10% of that should be negated by shadow focus talent in shadow tree, but it doesn’t work. Read the original post by op.

In one of the interviews, Blizzard said that they wanted to shake things up a little bit every season, not to make them stale.
That’s why in Season 1 they brought in the tornadoes NOBODY wanted, then took them away.
In Season 2, they broke spell hit mechanics for the sake of consistency NOBODY asked for. For Season 3, they disabled skull/mqg/belt and other broken items, which was good!

How about, for season 4, revert the spell hit change.
It will make some specs playable again (the other myriad bugs vs 2.4.3 won’t hurt as much).

It’s 15%, there is no meta gem that increases fear or silence resist chance, only 5% stun, there is engineering head that adds +10% stun resist chance, which noone uses for obvios reasons, hit or pene does not affect stun/silence/fear resist chances that are given by the talents and/or gear, which is the stupidest decision they could make. It’s especially tragic for a SP, because they are the least mobile class, no escape, no defensives other than just being somewhat tanky with the ONLY CC which is fear on 26 second cooldown which gets resisted very often even when noone has more than 15% chance to resist incoming fear ( other than feral druids obviously, but we’re talking about normal classes )
