The more I look at pictures of Antonidas and Kel’thuzad, the more I am wondering…do they have higher testosterone levels than the player character? Why do they have bigger beards, while being Human? Just copy paste one (or two) Dwarf beards, really. If you are afraid of very long beards on Humans, then how about the size of Norgannon’s beard (https://www.wowhead.com/npc=154432/norgannon)?
Check these FAN-MADE beards. How hard and resource-demanding would it be, anyway? https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/4h7zsh/hey_blizzard_can_we_have_beards_like_that_please/
This is just a very important fantasy aspect, just look at Mithrandir! https://www.denofgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/ian-mckellen-hobbit-an-unexpected-journey-gandalf.jpg?fit=620%2C368
And just so we can enjoy more imagery, here are some “edits” made by me:
yeah no seriously. Why wasn’t this even in the customoblabla udate that my engrish cant spell. Blizzard this has been the top of the list for like three thousand years. Why are you denying humans their beard growth?
I think the main problem in giving long beards to Humans is that in order to look naturally, these additional body parts need to have certain animations adjusted to them. Otherwise they would look absolutely stiff.
And this goes beyond in just designing a beard and attaching them to the character models.
But yeah, wizard beards should definitely be a thing.
I just don’t understand why Blizzard don’t have a team of art devs, who are maybe learning or something, constantly adding customisation options. They could have like 2 guys for alliance and 2 for horde who are trusted in adding customisation to the game, who can just add the little options… whys everything got to be such a big deal? Imagine if they added 1 new thing for 50% of races per week. Alternating which races in their factions get a new customisation option. 1 new thing doesn’t seem too much of a stretch anyway. Surely they have some system where changing colour of something, or adding a hair style is really quite simple…
I would imagine that it has something to do with the fact that the game, and code, is now so old that even tampering with a beard length or other visual change can have unintended consequences elsewhere in the game. What we deem being quite simple may not be so.
Humans, most of all, because they can represent many cultures and fantasies. However, all other races deserve long facial hair/beards too, with some particular races needing them most:
Blood Elves
Night Elves (at least they have one long beard)
Kul Tirans
Void Elves
Undead
Draenei
Lightforged Draenei
Of course, this doesn’t mean I do not advocate for other races to get them beards as well, but lore-wise the races I mentioned along with the Humans could have them.
They give us a set that they themselves admitted to be inspired by the clothing of a Necromancer, and yet, they won’t give us the beard that defines a Necromancer. It seems like they are taunting us.
